They need to defy trends and allow you to remove the battery and replace it with ease again. I think that could make waves if done right, unless people are conditioned to being happy with buying new phones whenever their batteries weaken now days.

That might add complexity given the IP65/IP68 rating?!
Also, I don't personally find it a problem. In everyday use, my Xperia 5ii lasts me all day and then some. Maybe I'm just older now, but things which are simple and just work are vastly more appealing to me than the days when I was optimizing PNG sizes in a ROM on my HTC Diamond so the UI was snappy.
