The Nintendo Switch 2 | Officially Announced (Switch 2 Direct Scheduled for April 2nd)

Backwards compatibility is a BIG win for me. My physical collection is over 150 games for switch. Looks like my sons get a hand-me-down switch for Children's day this year!

This was as expected.

Cool but the video is so basic that it almost seems like a rushed reaction to the leaks.

So is it releasing April 2 or is that when a Nintendo direct for it is?...

When those joycons were skirting on the surface (the :messenger_grinning:); were they showing off the mouse pointer ability of them? Why would they be sliding like that otherwise?

looks fake.

I'm with team fake.
Mario kart (9) looks graphically the same as 8 the fuck is this shit.

Most meh reveal ever, cant belive they showed a Switch transforming into a Switch 2, it just screams incremental upgrades, you would never see sony announce the ps5 as a ps4 transforming into a ps5.

Also why the hell is the direct several months away, would laugh if this came out during the holidays instead.

Would be interesting to see how the non tech savy consumers view this reveal?

Released over 12 years ago. Switch is now one of the best selling consoles of all time, this just looks like a variant of the same thing. People will eat this up, and have been anticipating it for a long time.
This is exactly the same situation the Wii-WiiU was....

I wouldn't have expected anything more here. I'd be surprised if they get games at the fidelity level of a PS4 Pro.
It just means there is probably going to be a 2-3 year cross gen period for all Nintendo games. Probably smart from a financial point of view. But I was really hoping to see what Nintendo would do with the new tech. My excitement levels have dramatically dropped, at least in the near future

So it's not gonna be out till probably fall 🤮
They made sure to get in the back compat note so people don't stop buying Switch games in the meantime :messenger_tears_of_joy:

Cool. It's the same as the renders.

Fair play to Nate the Hate, I'll listen to what he has to say from now on.

Mario Kart 9 - the most obvious play ever.

To be honest I just want to see what third parties are cooking for launch window.

Watch it end up being like "Holiday 2025" or something lol
Definitely could happen, lmao. I think it's important to just limit expectations these days and just take it one day at a time. At least until we get concrete information and details.

Did we just get a reveal that pretty much just confirmed the leaks and not much else?
Yes, lmao. All that was really received from this was Mario Kart running on it, and the April 4th direct about it.

I'm guessing every game that doesn't have some special interactions with the original switch joycons will be backwards compatible. Sorry Labo and Ring Fit Stan's, but we have a console for you: it's called the Switch 1.

Biggest takeaway here is that they don't guarantee full BC (same as with PS5).

The upcoming 2 and a half months are going to be insufferable, especially if they don't throw us some additional bones here and there.
