I doubt it. Nintendo has a tendency to overblow their gimmicks like they're the second coming of Christ. It'll like have some unique gimmick or hook that people will go like "that's neat" imo.
 
ok serious question: why is Emily immune to nintendo ninjas?

I mean, Nintendo's secrecy is legendary but this one person has knowledge about what moves they are gonna make? how?
 
What if, like SMD, Emily has gone insane without us knowing about it ?

What if she also has blind confidence in her twitter sources without checking them, just to get confirmation about what she said earlier in the year ?

What if everything we though was granted is false, and the NX is not gonna get revealed before December ?

WHAT IF IT WAS ALL A PLAN TO DISTRACT U.S. CITIZENS TO VOTE IN NOVEMBER ?

I always thought the idea that it needed secrecy was patently ridiculous and never put any stock in it. The far more likely reason was that software wasn't ready to demo along with it. I say this because Kimishima himself argued this as the reasoning for the March delay.

One of the reasons for choosing the launch timing that we did is so that the software lineup will be ready in time for the hardware launch. Not only at launch, but we also need to be able to continuously release titles after launch. We are planning for this to be a platform that consumers can enjoy for a long time.

2. The scenarios with the highest possibilities of happening

1) Announcement of the event AND the event this week: Serkan Toto himself says his source on NX reveal NOT this week is not as good as the one for the SMR tidbits. Also (I want to highlight this is my personal opinion), Emily said that this is going to be an "important week" for NX and that "the investor meeting will answer more questions about it", which could be interpreted as the reveal being a thing this week (announced in the next 48 hours at most, otherwise it's not happening) with the investor meeting being the place where stakeholders will be informed about other aspects of the device, more pertinent to their area (initial shipment forecasts, planning on sales-related initiatives, etc.). However, I must say that statement of hers isn't cut-clear on the matter.

2) Announcement of the event this week and the event next week (again, personal opinion: probably right before the Investor Meeting): this is how Serkan Toto's tweet and Emily's recent statements would not contradict with each other. Technically, the news of when the NX is unveiled is very important, even if the event does not happen this week.
Supposedly, everything should happen before the Financial Results for Q2 FY2017 are released (before October 26th), or at the latest the day before the Investors Meeting (right on October 26th, when the results are released).

We have four different sources saying this week. One saying next week.

Focus is all on Emily.

She doesn't give up her sources as soon as someone in a suit tells her to.

Also I could be wrong but emily rogers is a pseudonym and she stays pretty private.

Yup, I agree with that. Maybe back before the EG leak when the NX could be literally anything, but after that the only reason for this late of a reveal which made sense was to prepare as much software (and trailers) as possible.

I don't know if you're being sarcastic or not...

She's the one who actively responded to the person defying the other 4. If the others have responded, I haven't see it. Makes sense that people would be talking about her. There are plenty of active examples of misogyny. But I wouldn't say we're actively seeing that here; especially not when there's a simpler explanation, not without some evidence to back it up anyway.

This plus a handheld included is essentially what the NX is rumored to be. Except I guess the box shape.

Also, instead of Wii motion+ and nunchuk, it's just 2 Wii motion+ controllers, one in each hand, each with an analog stick. That's the dream.

First of all, let me just state that I have absolutely no interest in shining a spotlight on her tweets or promoting some silly insider showdown. My interest in this thread is twofold:

1.) I'm a Nintendo fan and am interested in news on the next platform.
2.) Try to keep some semblance of a lid on the nonsensical hype cycles that have invariably led to every other NX thread getting shut down.

Really, that's it. If there's news, let's discuss it. But fanxiety HYYYYYPPPPEEEE!!! stuff? Yes, I'm the NoFunAllowed.jpg type. Where am I going with this? While I'll never discount misogyny as a factor when it comes to being critical of a woman on the internet, I do think we need to keep in mind that she really is going out on a limb there in disagreeing with someone so publicly in terms of a rumor they've heard. It's hardly surprising that she's become the focal point right now.

The only issue with that being the reason is that the 3DS was revealed alongside Kid Icarus and a few demo videos for other games(Revelations, Naked Sample, Dream Drop Distance). Afterward they released screens and PR for other games.

The 3DS' reception was really strong despite the fact very little was actually shown alongside it.

Really? I've been thinking of the NX as basically the Wii-U Gamepad with removable controls on either side. When you want to play on the TV, you plug the middle section of the gamepad into the dock and it outputs to the TV. No "consoles" type unit aside from what the handheld docks into. Maybe I'm misreading your comment...
 
I think both Emily and Toto can be right. Toto might have gotten a polite response to his questions, like "expect more info next week at the investor meeting, nothing else until that" which made him even say that was anyhow expected. He couldn't have reported more than he got as info. In the end he even said he can be wrong, proof that he doesn't buy it 100%.
Emily on the other side seems fully confident in the info she got now and she went all in with a reveal and unlocked her twitter.

We'll see.
 
I'd like to take this time to thank the mods for NX speculation crowd control over the past friggin' year. It's about time this shit starts winding down and we get rock solid info our way.
 
Naked Sample was such a bummer because the budget got slashed from it (Kojima became enamored with the Vita instead, Konamk began to start going nuts) and the final game looked nothing like the demo.

It's a shame, too, because the demo was running off the internal hardware fine.
