The NX Prediction / BSpeculation / Fanxiety Thread

What's with the ultimatums? So if we don't hear about it tomorrow, there's literally no other day it could get announced and have the console still come out on time? It could still get announced Thursday or Friday.

Pretty much and yea. It's gotten so late in the year it's hard to see them unveiling it at this point. I feel a delay is coming.

Don't judge my credibility based on when NX is revealed/announced. Judge my credibility based on the NX info I've reported for past 6 months

LOL

I am reading this patent and I am incredulous that there hasn't been more discussion about what I am finding. According to [0034], the detachable input devices in the system can be powered wirelessly. I assume that explains the new kind of force-feedback that was mentioned earlier. Each input device can have a unique operation that can power it. The buttons could light up and show different images on its surface.

Wait WHAT??? I have followed the patents moderately well but I missed this.

This would solve the logic conundrum I had with the IR-sensing input patents and detachable controllers. Originally, I could not conceive of how button inputs registering via cutting off IR beams could work if the controllers could be detached, since I assumed that the screen portion with the battery itself would be the only source of power (and putting optional batteries in detachable controllers seems very inelegant.)

What if the controllers themselves emit the IR and can do so when detached by being wirelessly-powered? This could allow them to have swappable button/pad layouts when detached or attached and still have powered guts in both modes.

What is wrong with her man? It's getting annoying. One minute she's going all in on what she says and standing by it THEN she's like "oh please don't judge me on that..."?? Like are you serious? You're going to get judged on everything you report man.

She should have never said anything about NX info this week if she wasn't 110% confident. We're pretty much guaranteed some NX info next week, so I'm not sure why she couldn't have just stuck with that.

Fortunately I've been able to keep my expectations mostly in check since early this month.

Pretty much lol

I mean, if she hits on everything about NX except the announcement week then it's a good point

not sure why she cares enough to tweet about it though

Emily, don't sweat it.

This wouldn't be played up as much of a big deal if people's heads weren't almost literally popping off in anticipation.

Unless I'm missing more tweets she doesn't seem to be walking back anything about this week... She's just noting that things like the exact reveal date are probably a lot easier to change than hardware specifics. And that she's not entirely confident about a reveal this week.

And to be frank she's right that things like exact timing for a reveal or announcement is undoubtedly much more malleable than things like the hardware specifics. Insiders get their info from sources who are given info from their superiors. Some of this info can change drastically day to day. It's hard to blame insiders when that happens.

First off, what we're going off are the "RUMORS" that suggested we may be dealing with a hybrid in the first place. Those same rumors also say say its likely a TEGRA chip. And one of the main leakers on the rumor of the Hybrid had this to say about its power

"In terms of raw power, numerous sources tell me that NX is much closer to Xbox One than PlayStation 4. Even that might be stretching it a tiny bit"

I dont see why we can only talk about some parts of the rumor and not others. This is all the same rumor. If we can talk hybrid, then we can talk about the other info surrounding this same rumor.

any opinions surrounding power are not based on nothing, they are based on the info provided from primary leakers of the hybrid rumor.

the other half of this is just common sense. Even if you could develop a portable machine with the power of the xbox one and ps4. What do you think the battery life on something like that would be? making such a thing consume less for the sake of battery life would definitely affect its performance.

Also. PS4 should be the new standard for power given that we have the ps4 pro and scorpio on the way.

Aiming for something under that puts nintendo right back into a place where its going to get a noticably inferior version of 3rd party games. That sort of thing has never gone well with the userbase of any NINTENDO console. Always been a recipe for disaster. Other companies seem to do fine under these conditions, but Nintendo has never been one of them. They get crucified for anything being below parity with their competition.

also, regarding wiiu's 1080p output. Look at the games running at 1080p. None of those games allow you to move in a full 3d environment (except for monster hunter, which looks like a wii game), nor are the pushing much in terms of polygons or complex shading. What are the games again? smash? kirby, monster hunter and the latest mario rpg? am i missing any

I know all that, both their comparison between it and the PS4/XB1 as well as that it runs on a Tegra. I'm not arguing that at all.

But that doesn't mean Nintendo is caught in yet another mountainous power gap between itself and the competitors. Wii U was something slightly more powerful than a 360/PS3 versus the next gen. Wii was a Gamecube with a remote and overclocked RAM versus the 360/PS3. Is something noted to possibly be an inch or two short of an Xbox One really the same problem?

Also, noting base PS4 should be a standard for developers to work on isn't the same thing as them actually believing that and working off of it. It's not like Pro is adding anything that much more performance-wise to what we've seen so far from the games making use of it.

Yeah me too, that video kicked ass. I wish GameCube had been more successful. Between Nintendo 64, GameCube, Wii and WiiU (and not counting the NES or SNES) the GameCube was my favorite Nintendo console.

It really had a great library of games. The PS2 was just unstoppable and the Xbox was the cool new kid and had Halo and the successful Xbox Live among other things

These input devices cannot be powered outside of the device. They are detachable, but not usable while unslotted. The patent describes the powering of them to be very short range in centimeters. They are powered via short-range induction like how mobile phones are powered with those induction pads. The NX will have an induction method that powers the detachable control schemes.

Get ready to have your mind blown...

Want to guess what the last 2 inputs are?

The third one is a single button, that uses the 9-way pressure sensor of the input slot, a single completely analog button.

The fourth one is.....a fucking amiibo. You can insert an amiibo (maybe not of the current iteration, maybe a smaller one), and using the 9-way pressure sensor, you can move the character by applying pressure to the figure. If you think about what the patent said about wirelessly powering input devices, we may have powered amiibo in the future, folks and as a controller. Fucking bizarre.

There is news this week. I just think everyone's behavior toward me is weird. That's all.

Weird? Is she serious?

Guys chill the fu...

aw Eff it, go nuts, nothing has stopped you all yet, you're gonna freak out over every little word, this is the state of nintendo fandom. I get it. You guys want info.

It is really baffling. From what I seen she hasn't really said much of anything new on NX for a while, so there was really no reason to bring this up if she wasn't completely confident.
