No flop here but no guarantees either since I'm not done yet. This game agrees with me on so many levels it's astonishing.

I can't think of an rpg I've liked more up to this point. Does that mean there won't be better RPGs down the road? I hope not.

I have 7 named sidequests remaining, but some of them are locked off because of decisions I've made in the game. I quite like that.
 
Wow, this game is extremely random. Atleast in the wasteland, all items, enemies and creatures seem to be completely randomly generated.
I'm not quite sure I like that to be honest, but it should make each playthrough different I guess.

I'm really liking the game so far though.

There is a lot of hand placement, and only some elements are random. Some containers are random, others are always the same.
 
I found a tape called Grady's Last Recording in Marigold Station and it tells you to find a key to open a safe. I found the key, but can't find the safe. Does anyone know where it is? It says the room is marked by a spinning light but I havent noticed it.

It's in a narrow space between a train car and the side of the tunnle. You really can't miss it because of the light. The thing you pick up is totally non-sensical, unless someone wants it from you later?
 
Just finished the main quest line. I barrelled through towards the end about half way into it. I saved it right before the end.

To see all of the possible endings, can anyone confirm that the only endings are created by:

1) tampering the water, inputting the code
2) leaving the water, inputting code
3) tampering the water, letting the paladin input the code
4) leaving the water, letting the paladin input the code


or do other events in the game effect the ending dramatically

doing the quest Head of State apparently gives you another video at the end.
 
I have a question about The Family questline. I
went the peaceful route and worked out a deal between them and Arfue
, although I'm not terribly happy with my choice since I'm not sure why I'm being so nice to cannibals. What are the alternate outcomes for anyone who went a different route?

And what would happen if I went back and wiped out The Family now?

I wouldn't really say its the lamest perk. I made the mistake of only putting 4 points into strength so the perk has really helped me. That perk plus the bobble head you find in Megaton (+1strength) helped me a ton.

In Lucas Simms house. (the Sheriff) As soon as you enter Megaton its the first house to the right.

Game is so awesome, and im really glad i bought it on PC, it was cheaper and it runs super f'n smooth on high settings. Amazing.
 
Hey about that pipboy music stuttering problem, some of the users at the bethesda forums are suggesting this:

But im not really sure if installing a codec pack would help out. I dont really use a wide range of audio/video stuff ( just basic stuff like Zune software and quicktime). Would a messed up codec actually cause the music from the pipboy to sound like it was buffering or something?

Is there a weapon I can build that uses darts? That's the other thing I have hundreds of.

you'd be suprised how often stuff comes out of left field. For instance, there is an
Ent
in this game, and he has a group of worshippers whose rituals you can participate in.

The repair lady in magaton sells a fission battery, and you will eventually find crutches laying around.

You can get a dart schematic from one of the vendors in tenpenny tower.

Question: Has anyone had any framerate 'stuttering' problems. My machine is running this on high 60 FPS indoors and specific locations (ie a building or megaton) and 30-45 FPS in the Wasteland. Is this the problem Chiggs was having and offered a solution to? I in fact tried what he suggested, but still seems to sutter about every now and again.

I can't tell you how much better the game looked when I turned up mipmap detail (whoops, had it turned to min.) It looks SO MUCH better, I love it. Even without v-sync enabled, the game runs so well.

Once you sell something to a vendor do they automatically have it in their inventory so if you need a piece to build something you can just buy it?

There's a pressure cooker in the first house on the left approaching Minefield, Steam thingys and Fission Batteries in RobCo, crutches you can find pretty much all around.
 
I'm level 11 and I wanted to sell a bunch of scrap metal to Walter (the Megaton Water Treatment Plant guy) but he's gone missing. He's no place in town. Has this happened to anyone else?
 
Any place to get lots of ammo near Megaton? Right now I'm doing the fireant quest and those little fiery fuckers are hard. I did manage to get pretty far in there nest however now I am all out of ammo and explosives so I bounces before they turned my ass into bbq. Right now I'm going around Megaton looking for dungeons where I can get some ammo. Btw I killed the supply lady so I cant buy from her.

The residents of Megaton have a tendency to fall off of the high rise walkways to their deaths. It is a really annoying bug which I hope gets fixed at some point.

Fucking Fallout.

SO, status update. I just found Rivet City and holy shit, man. As I said earlier, it's just mindboggling how they've added so much vast diversity to the Oblivion formula of cottages and castles. Turning every corner into every new area is a true marvel.

I don't even know how much of the game I've seen. Haven't even started on the Dad Quest. Just doing Moira's work. On the way there, I cleaned out the Fire Ants, (HOLY FUCK I can't believe I pulled that off. Thank god for three Lunch Box Mines.) This game's vastness. I don't believe it. Like I said, it's the same scope as Oblivion, only filled with seven times as much awesomeness.
 
I've been really impressed at how the main quest feels. It gave me an epic feeling a few times. Especially
when the brotherhood popped out and attacked the super mutant I was fighting and especially the fight with the behemoth.
That's something that Bethesda really didn't pull off so well with Oblivion, but I'm glad to see it here. I am really enjoying this game.

Are you serious? I mean, I know NPC pathfinding isn't great, but...
 
Hey, quick question--for the skills like "Small Arms", what effect does it actually have on your small arms? Is it just accuracy, or damage also, or what?
 
Anyone know where to get some decent armor? That's been my only real issue so far. Since I started I've probably only worn like 3 different pieces of armor, not including the specialized +5 barter, +5 medicine, etc ones that I only wear for a few minutes at a time.

Having said that, I haven't been to Rivet City yet. I assume there are higher level vendors there.

Also, where's Elder Lyons at, the Brotherhood member who's supposed to train you in Power Armor? Is he at the GNR headquarters? Because I didn't see him there.
