The Official Fallout 3 thread of post-apocalyptic proportions!

Just after the Enclave encounter.

I had Dogmeat and the Brotherhood of Steel woman with me when I was captured heading out with the G.E.C.K., and now I'm out of of Raven's Nest and all who's with me is Fawkes. Are the other two gone for good?

Whoo level 19!

She died on me in about 2 minutes, luckily she has one of the best guns in the game, so I decided not to reload.

Anyway, just finished the Trouble on the Homefront quest.
Amata sure is a cold bitch. So I blew her head off with a 44.

You can refind your woman back at the Citadel, and I heard Dogmeat goes to Vault 101 if you lose him (I can't confirm that though).

Where do I get Grady's package?

In the metro station in the Grayditch area (forgot its name), the one with all the fire ants. You need to find a key inside a Fire Hose box, and use the key on a safe in a side room in the metro station (it's a locked room that has a spinning active light outside).

I'm sorry I can't be more specific. The item's name is Naughty Nightwear btw.

*ugh* Ok.

I think I saw that somewhere inadvertently. I remember seeing naughty nightwear somewhere.

I'm five hours into this. Does it get better?

Just keep going, 5 hours is barely anything in this game. It does get awesome. I've had a couple friends tell me they think it's boring or whatever, until around 10-15 hours in and then something just clicks and now they can't put it down.

Can you get your follow to use a different weapon? I have Clover following me and she asks for a different weapon other than the shot gun she's carrying. I put different weapons in her inventory and she doesn't use them, but she will use the armor that I put in, strange.

Just to confirm: Tagging skills in this game does nothing but give you the initial point bonus, right?

Unrelated: I wish you could target body parts with melee weapons.

It never really clicked for me unfortunately. I felt like maybe it would in the final mission (which seemed like it was going to be awesome), but it was such a let-down that I went back to general apathy.

I was bored out of my mind five hours in, now that I'm eight hours in... I'm still bored to death of it. Walking for long periods of time across areas that more or less look the same just makes me so sleepy. So, to me.. didn't get any better, just got "more."

It's hit my shelf already, and I moved on.

Jericho was the same way for me, he took it out when he started fighting though.

So who are the good guy followers and who are the bad guy followers? I have the guys from the
Ninth Circle, but as he wasted a guy as we were leaving I figured he was bad. The game also told me he went back to where I found him, I guess he quit.
:lol

I think she'll only use weapons you give her if their damage output is greater than whatever she's carrying. I use Jericho who by default has a Chinese Assault Rifle, which is one of the most powerful small guns in the game, and he's only used stuff like the minigun, rocket launcher and flame thrower out of long-range items I've given him.

Works the same way with armor, depending on the damage resistance.

How do you hack the terminals that you come across?

They say very easy or easy on some of them....yet when click on them they always ask for the password which I obviously don't know.

So am I missing a step somewhere on how to get into these things?

SO i picked up the 'nerd rage' perk but it didnt make my strength go up to 10 like it said it would.. What gives?

I know it's probably been mentioned, but I haven't seen it: Is there a screenshot button on the PC version? Or do I need to use a 3rd party app?

Gun Nut as a perk is great, as it adds to both your small arms and repair skill and can be taken multiple times.
All skill point bonus perks can be taken 3 times (or 3 ranks), with the sole exception of Tag!.

Nerd Rage's bonuses only kick in when your health is < 20%.

If a terminal/safe/door asks for a key or a password, it is normally found with the correlating npc, or hidden somewhere nearby in one of the containers. Alternatively, if your Science and Lockpick skills are high enough, sometimes the option will be given to hack or lockpick them. There are some unique doors/terminals that cannot be bypassed using skills, and finding the keys is the only way to get through them.

You have to be wounded to a certain extent for it to kick in. I think your health has to be below 20-25%.

"Print Screen". Press and hold it till you get the msg.

Was so loving the game until hit the lvl 20 cap. Now, there's really no point in killing things. Kinda took the fun out of it for me. Really stupid decision to put lvl cap so low. Going to just finish the game, but right now, don't really feel like moving forward. Maybe, play some GoW 2 and come back later.

Meet 1st deathclaw yesterday. Heard how badass they were and was expecting tough fight. 2 consecutive VATS headshots later with sniper rifle and dead. Talk about disappointment.

It depends on the password length. Very easy terminals have short passwords and diverse words. Harder ones are longer and the words are more related.

Yeah I'm hoping a mod will come along that removes the cap and allows you to continue increasing your skills.

Yeah I know but I didn't know if there was a way to just 'hack' into it or what. I have the game rented from Gamefly w/ no manual so I didn't know if there was a way or not.

Very nice pics.... what type of sword are you using? :D

I'd like to know this too.

Finished the main quest in 17 hrs 45 min at level 16. Some questions:

I thought the Colonel was in the chamber with your dad when he was killed. Why isn't the Colonel dead (or was that not him)? I'm confused about his relationship to the President and what the Colonel wanted to happen. The President wanted to purify everyone, but did the Colonel just want to be the one controlling the water? Finally, Liberty Prime was hilarious and awesome.

Is there a way to actually look at my character's face in the 360 version?

What's the point of spending time on details like brow height if you never get to see your character's face in the game?

Hold LB and swing around.

Holy crap this game is amazing. It has absorbed so much of my life I wondered how many rads I'd consume by making coffee with tap water this morning.

Hed to boot up a previous save yesterday after I accidentally found a way to completely bypass the "Following in his Footsteps" and "Galaxy News Radio" quests.

:lol :lol That reminds me of when I first got Crysis and obsessed over the settings, I'd go outside and be like 'foliage needs moar AA' or 'who turned my volumetrics down.' Seriously, it was messed up, I suddenly realized my specs weren't good enough to run the real world .

I don't know what it is about Bethesda games that screw with your mind like that. After playing Morrowind for over a hundred hours, I remember mowing the lawn in my backyard, and absentmindedly peering into a tree stump to see if anyone had stashed some money.

I wonder if Bethesda made the level cap 20 so that they could release DLC later that let you go higher.

The level cap was in the previous games. Besides, you can beat the main quest at much lower than 20, and by the time you're 20, you'll probably have a lot of maxed out skills anyways.

(starting from level 1 with 10 int, that should be 23 skill points per level up, so 230 skill points. Include base stat skills, as well as tagged skills (which is a total of 45 or 60 extra if you take the perk), and books... you get craptons. Not to include other bonuses from perks 'n bobble heads... you get 10 per bobble head, and the bonus to the skills from the stat ones...)

I read an interview with someone from Beth (I think it was Pete Hines) who said the upcoming DLC most likely won't raise the level cap, because they felt the player is already powerful enough at level 20.

Hey guys....(spoiler)BATMAN DIES BATMAN DIES

:lol Sorry total brain fart :lol fixed it now. I hope the name alone wasn't to telling for the guys that haven't "done it" yet.

Sorry!

I just beat the main quest as a saint, and the ending was a huuuuuuuuge cop-out.
I had Fawkes with me, and he could have easily dealt with the radiation, but he refused because he didn't want to interfere with my destiny. Uh, what?
