The Official Fallout 3 thread of post-apocalyptic proportions!

Is there a item which can permanently or a at least temporarily increase my weight limit? I'm always over cumbered. ;(

Any drink that ups your STR/Strength (I think whiskey? Which is all over the place) will bump up the carrying limit by 10 pounds. Also, there's a perk that lets you carry around 50% (or was it 50 pounds?) more stuff permanently.

EDIT: beaten with an even better suggestion. :lol

There's a strong back perk, which gives you an extra 50 lbs.

Or you could increase your strength using power armor, perks, or chems (temporary)

You could also get a follower and use him/her as a walking inventory/pack mule. That's what I do and I also have the strong back perk and maxed out my strength by using power armor. I don't know, but I always take all the crap I find with me to my house in Megaton.

I just got to the extremely bizarre
Superhuman Gambit
quest. Is there any way to
peacefully resolve the situation? I got to the AntAgonizer, and the only two outcomes I can produce are either her sending me to kill the Mechanist, or turning hostile and forcing me to kill her.

I really wish the level cap was higher. I'm at level 18, 32 hours in with much more I want to explore. :(
Higher levels are needed to explore? You can already have a character that can do a wide range of things with level cap. With out level cap you would be able to do everything in one play through which would be stupid imo.

You can convince them both to stop fighting. I think the option automatically appears when your speech skill is high enough and then you can end the situation peacefully.

Did you have enough speech? I made them both stop by speech challengues

I think if
your speech is high enough you can calm her down.
I'm not sure if that's the only way.

I used
Lady Killer to convince her to give it up.

That's what I want to do though. :P

Where do you go to get the Reilly's Rangers quest?

Underworld (Museum of History) or getting near Old Lady Hospital and listening to their stress call.

This. I love how different your character can end every new game. You have to specialize into something, you just can't be good at everything with only 20 levels.

If only Fallout 3 had a car, then you could store everything in the trunk ;-p. ALthough that wouldn't really work in the kind of environment F3 has.

Yeah, you could drive over all those rocks and cliffs with a vehicle! I don't really think the game world is designed with cars in mind.

Planes with nuclear bombs, fuck yeah.

Or a glider on top of tenpenny tower....with nuclear bombs!

That would only work on the PC once someone puts out a comprehensive world mod like with Oblivion where there isn't a partition for the towns......

PS: DRAGON MOUNTS ON PC VERSION = WIN!

Man this game is awesome. And this is from someone that played Oblivion.. got bored and gave up on it. I've never played a game that gave you so much freedom.

I just wish the level cap wasn't at level 20. I am already at level 16 and I have only done 2 of the main quests.

Fuck. I don't know how to do spoiler text. I'm such a newb.

Remove the space from the bracket.

Can Bethesda re release the original Fallouts? Can they use those properties? They should bring those out on DS or maybe even live if they wanted to clean up the graphics.

What the hell happened to my follower, Jericho?

I just finished the main quest mission where you
get captured by the Enclave and then you talk to President Eden. I mindfucked Eden which made him self destruct and when I exited the building I realized Jericho was gone.

WHERE THE HELL DID HE GO? I really need him

Haven't read a single post in this thread for fear of any kind of spoilers. I'm seconds away from starting my epic, post-apocalyptic adventure and just need to know what difficulty do you guys recommend playing on? Normal, Hard or Very Hard?

You can change difficulties at any time, so it isn't a huge deal. You can start on medium until you get your bearings and then change to hard, or just start on hard (or very hard). If you feel the combat is getting too easy, you can always change the difficulty through the menu. The ease of combat in FO3 will mostly depend on how you allocate your skill points.

What a great feature...thanks for the info.

This is a question about a thing that happens near the Reilly's Rangers Compound (small spoiler):

It's that psychopath in that alleyway that has a doom-like speech, with 4-5 nukes around that are armed to blow. I know you can convince the other wastelander to run right up to them and blow them all up :lol , but I chose to shoot the maniac in the head with my scoped Magnum.
Was there any other way to resolve this for any kind of reward?

Very Hard. Make sure to at least 9 INT as it helps.
It'll be tough at first, but once you overcome that it really feels nice.

Thanks, I already have the strong back perk. I will try Buffout. Is there a special shop where I can get them? I don't think that I've seen it so far.

There's also the nerd rage perk which increases your strength(and thus carrying capacity) when your health is low... which actually happens a lot to me as I'm always looking for a bed instead of using the extra stimpacks.

Do you guys recommend the mysterious stranger perk? I need like 50 in science which would cost me lots of points and I dont think I really need the help since I'm playing on normal

I checked my house in Megaton, I checked Vault 101....no luck. Would he be walking around Megaton or be in a specific spot?

I'm surprised some of the areas in the game are "instanced", meaning if you were to somehow jump over buildings you'd end up in emptiness. Of course, I'm talking mainly about the Great Wasteland. While trying to take a shortcut I accidentally went somewhere I wasn't supposed to, check this out.

So I decided to take a shortcut to Rivet City and there was no Rivet City to be found :lol

I blacked out the area in which you can do this so Bethesda won't try to patch it, assuming they haven't already or if someone hasn't tipped them yet. It's not game breaking, or exploitable so I see no reason to patch this above more important matters. Just thought it was something interesting to share.

Does anyone know if Best Buy is selling the PC Collector's Edition? It's not listed on the website.
The Best Buy I was in a couple days ago, had a couple PC CE and 360 CE as well. They only got 3 for the PS3 and sold them all.

Anyone else experience the game locking up when fast traveling on the 360 version? I fast traveled from just outside the family's lair to Ten Penny Tower and the game endlessly (10 minutes before I gave up) circled through slides on the loading screen. I turned off my system and tried it again and got the same results.

I just had a strange mole rat moment. Over near the Anchorage War memorial, I came across four mole rats. They did not attack me.

I kept getting closer, waiting for them to attack, but instead they stood up on their hind legs, and when I got really close they ran away.

Anyone else have this happen?

A similar bug has happened to me 3 times consecutively when I tried to fast travel to Tenpenny Tower as well. After the slides finished playing, all that greeted me next was 5 minutes of a blank screen but Tenpenny Tower won't load. Eventually I just fast traveled to a location near Tenpenny and made the rest of the journey on foot.

Why would I use power armor when the ranger armor gives me only 1 less DR?
Because Ranger's Armor's stat boosts aren't as impressive as Tesla Armor if you're going to go Energy Weapons, or Linden's Outcast Power Armor if you're specializing in Big Guns. It is definitely unique, since it gives + 5 AP and + 1 Luck and is the best body armor for Small Guns.

Get 2 followers and you will have increased your carrying capacity. One of them has to be Charon, and you can pick from another 6 more in accordance to your alignment.

Well, just beat the game. Glad I made a save before starting the last mission.

The main quest was pretty lackluster besides the final mission.
The commie-hating giant robot was freaking EPIC. :lol Anyways, I decided to go into the purifier room myself and did the good thing and didn't listen to Eden. Take that government! Don't know if that makes up for all of the evil shit I did before that, though.

Besides the main quest though, the game is amazing. I'll be happy to go back to my save and finish the rest of the side missions.

I just leveled up to lvl 7, I'm trying to get science, speech and lockpick to 100 fast and my attributes all kind of balanced, everything is 6-7 except for INT 8 and LUCK 5.

But know I don't know what perks choose, I picked already three times the intense training one and comprehension, but I'm not sure if I should continue getting more of the intensive training, and instead pick up others like thief, scoundrel, gun nut or daddy's boy.

Anyone can give me some tips to not fuck up my perks? How are your characters?

Keep upping the base stats imo. The others only give a slim 5 to a stat while a point in PER will give you 2 to energy weapons and increased detection of enemies. AGI give you +2 to small guns and more AP for VATS and so on.

I'd mainly focus only 2 stats at the start, it was mainly small guns/medicine/lockpicking for me, however I stopped medicine at 60 then upped lockpicking to 100 while I left small guns at 40, didn't cause too many issues at the base levels since I was using a sword with 18 unarmed/melee combat anyway. (Very Hard) :lol
