The game is actually quite easy on Normal difficulty. Don't try playing it as an FPS or TPS, VATS is a must, especially early in the game. And like Anton said, stay off the right side of the map for a while.dralla said:is it just me or is this game really hard? I had no idea you could get multiple companions! On my second playthrough I'm going to try and get all six.
Minor spoilers:HK-47 said:You can only get 2 without mods and only Dogmeat and a another companion if you dont use a glitch.
Unless they found a new glitch

1) Would I have to play prior Fallout games to understand this one?
2) How is the PS3 version? Do I have to install the 5GB the game requests (says so on the back cover) up front? or do I have to install it in parts, like MGS4?
There's no install, but the game will cache data to the HDD as you play.Kccitystar said:I am also considering buying the PS3 version of this game as a gift for myself for christmas, but I have a couple of questions:

Volcynika said:Hm, GAF, I need some advice!
I'm thinking about asking for this as a gift for Christmas, but I have two options: the PS3 version or the PC version.
My PC stats are:
-Windows Vista
-NVIDIA 8600 GTS 256 MB
-2 GB RAM
-Core 2 Duo 2.4 GHz
-Monitor res 1440x900
For reference, mods are not a huge factor in deciding purchases for me (I barely have time to finish all my games at least once). I heard the PS3 version got patched recently, but I'm not sure how much things changed.
Thanks for any advice!

I couldn't have people thinking I was a bad person, now could I?
Taking a little break from this game. Going to start my second playthrough soon.

run backwards and shoot em in the faceSteroyd said:What's the most effiecient way to kill a murluk, beating them with a baseball bat is a definate no-no and I'm doing the locate family member quest which requires me to jump in a place filled to the brim with them. :/
Die Squirrel Die said:Okay this is a very specific query relating to book finding.
I'm in Vault 108 and I can see a book underneath a set of step ladders. Unfortunately the ladders are boxed in by several large crates. Now no matter what I can't get low enough for it to let me pick up the book, the collision detection of the ladders gets in the way. Has anyone else picked this one up? How did you do it?
mattso said:run backwards and shoot em in the face
I guess you could try vats baseball batting them in the faceSteroyd said:Isn't there a bullet-lite way? :/

Coverly said:Bullets are probably the safe way to go. On a sneak attack, you can kill them with 1 or two rifle shots, or a shotgun shot to the head/legs/arms in close range.
If you want to save ammo, always go for the sneak attack for the criticals. If you melee them you'll just use the caps you saved on ammo for stimpaks and armor repair. kind of your choice on this one. What lvl are you and what's your ammo situation?
Steroyd said:Right now I'm on level 7, holding out for the scrounger perk.
My ammo situation is... not very good I have lots of bullets for guns I don't have and when I go into the underground, I'm praying that there aren't many non human enemies because I run out of bullets just before I get to my destination.
I'm just too cheap ass on everything when it comes to RPG's.
I didn't encounter many Super Mutants at 4 or 5... and if I did see them, I got the fuck out of dodge. I saw some at like level 6 when I mistakenly went through some subway tunnels into the DC area, but that didn't last long especially when I realized they could follow through doors. :loldralla said:is it just me or is this game really hard? If you think that's odd, wait until you get to Oasis.bishoptl said:Today, I made it toTranquility Lane.
If you're running low on caps then use some of the ammo you don't need. I was poor until i realised i'd never use a Flamer in my current character build so i now use Flamer Fuel when i barter. I still forget now and then though and pay with caps when i should have used ammoSteroyd said:Right now I'm on level 7, holding out for the scrounger perk.

Leonsito said:Well, I'm back from my ban, during this "vacations from GAF" I wasted my time with Fifa and Fallout 3, and I have a couple of questions related to two sidequests:
Trouble on the Homefront
I helped Amata to become the new overseer, didn't kill his father and only using dialogue, I know that there is some unique item called "Father's books" it's useful? Where it is? And also, can I go back to the vault when i finally leave again?
Tenpenny Tower
I managed to convince all the residents that the ghouls could live in the tower, now everyone (well, almost) is happy in the tower now, but Tenpenny is nowhere to be found, and Roy Philips the ghoul seems to know something when I ask him about Tenpenny. Is he dead? Is he important or related to any other quest?
