If the levelcap wouldn't be in place, your character would just get crazily overpowered. The monsters would have to level along (not actually happening for already discovered areas), and at some point, the weapons wouldn't suffice for such strong monsters, so they'd have to level as well, which isn't part of the whole plan, leads to inflation, levelling would become pointless etc

Is it so difficult to add more difficult eneimies/areas, once you reach a certain level? It's pretty much in the ABC of game design. For instance Im currently playing Castlevania on DS, as I level up, I also enter into new areas and the game has harder enemies. It's pretty simple. Im at level 40, and just got to the last boss, never had to grind once.
I understand they wanted to make the game non-linear as possible, but its okay to have certan areas with much harder enemies, that prevent you from surviving.
Also making energy weapons so expensive without a significant benifit, and large weapons too heavy and hard to find doesn't do much to help the variety of combat customazation.
don't get me wrong, I love the game, but the few of you that are denfending it for stupid reasons are really silly.
