i'm a fan of this one

I hope this game sells better for them. I still have to play Second Sight but it looks to be a decent game that got lost in the shuffle.

I am torn between my love of Free Radical and my hatred for EA.

Dont worry, EA will shut them down in a few years, move some of the people to EA London or some shit and turn the IP over to some shitty company to churn out progressively worse sequals. Not only will your hatred of EA grow, your love of free radical will be crushed under the machines of the dark lord like Westwood before it.

You know what I just thought about? A decent path to developer success. Make a mediocre (although awfully fun) license/game like Timesplitters, get bought out by EA, build up your franchise with a few sequels, milk it for all it's worth, let EA destroy you or just get up one day after contract is up and leave and start another company with the same team.

Game Funding, personal moolah, developer cred, and fans can't complain about you creating sequels since evil EA took it with them!

(don't chew me out here, the license itself is throwaway even though the game is AAA in fun)

If a game's 'AAA in fun', then it hardly deserves to be labelled 'mediocre'. Ultimately, how much fun you're having when you play a given game is the best indicator of its worth. People who feel otherwise really need to ask themselves why they're playing games in the first place.

I never said the game was bad, I said the license to the Timesplitters franchise is mediocre.

I'd love to hear someone tell me anything superb about the Timesplitters license. Go ahead, tell me. You can't, because it isn't a superb license! It's a bunch of random scenes, and random people, shooting random weapons, with random modes. The whole focus is that there is no focus! Look, I literally just finished playing 4 levels of TS2 co-op with my buddy, before I saw this thread, I shit you not. I know how fun it is, but nothing in here is fleshed out. It's a few concepts thrown together for gameplay purposes. Doesn't seem to be anything concrete here at all.

The gameplay and design, however, are fun. And since EA can't really sue anyone for making another fps, the employees could leave the company (assuming their contracts are up) and start fresh elsewhere with some street cred and no major loss... as long as they didn't use the characters with the same names, it seems to me that everything about Timesplitters is just too damn random to be sued over. Arguably time travel, but BttF and Sliders did similar/same things. The game as a whole is AAA, and the sum is much greater than any of the parts. My point was that a team like FR has reign over EA instead of the other way around.

That's actually pretty damn old, I saw it months ago. But anyway, am I going to be forced to listen to EA TRAX on this game?

I'm pumped. All the challenges in the first owned my soul until I got all golds/plats on them.

Yea, the odd thing was that Edios was making some good money off of Timesplitters, even going so far as to call the series one of thier "pillars" in one quarterly statment, and then just decided to no longer act as the publisher anymore.

Nice boxart, I was expecting to see a bunch of those yellow spandex guys with goggles that are in the Harry Tipper levels.

I agree that the PAL boxart for TS2 is the best one.

Now this...looks like he's desperately firing a few shots into the black (well, not literally) hole of EA before being assimilated. It's like a hidden message from the Free Radical team.
