The Official GDC 2005 thread.

"That said, Wednesday will make up for it. Like I've been saying in N-Query, some cool stuff is coming. And I'm pretty sure you know what it is. Be happy."

So maybe we'll see the new Zelda trailer tommorrow?

I think that's also a possibilty. All I know this moment is that a new Zelda trailer at GDC seems 99% likley to show up unless Nintendo pulls it last in the moment.

I seriously don't get how you guys created a 5 page thread about a new Zelda trailer and dismiss the other thing with a stifled yawn.

other thing = DS online?

Well, I am more hyped for new footage of Zelda right now. DS online would also be very nice, but I guess many been skeptical about it.

A minor Zelda Tidbit. Info from the the guy who runs Zelda Headquarters:

TheSilentAssassin (TSA) on the Zelda boards has a bit of information and that there will be a sort of Zelda unveiling at the GDC (further proof/evidence that Zelda will be shown) and that it will be a new video and he was able to give away a small hint about it:

"Princess Zelda"

Also Nintendo was supposedly going to reveal the title at the GDC but decided to hold off until Nintendo's E3 conference.

Princess Zelda playable? Could it be.

full post from him.

Anyway - The original "extended" trailer, as Spong also claims, is "gone". There is footage in it that is not making it into the final cut, and rather than give a false picture (though I don't get how that could happen) of the game, they scrapped showing it off publicly.

The title of the game being revealed was a tidbit I saw earlier in February. Last week I was informed the GDC was going to have a Zelda "unvieling" of some sort, although back in early Feb when I heard of the Heart of the Gamer Keynote, I instantly put 2 and 2 together. I knew something Zelda related was coming, I just didn't know what.

So I took the tibit I heard and that was the one "2", and the GDC announcement, and that was the other "2". I got the equation to = Title Unvieling. However, it looks like Nintendo is getting cold feet and will wait until E3's pre-conference to unveil the game's title.

Then a week ago I heard about this "unvieling", and I was like "ugh, I was right...just now how I thought". So snooping around as I do, with all the access I've gained in ways savvy and unsavvy...I found a little blurp about new footage.

From the blurp, if I was to give away one word or phrase to summarize it in my opinion, this was it:

Princess Zelda.

Hope that clears things up. Oh yeah - Nintendo DOES monitor leaks like this and stuff...so when somebody does give out too much info, they have, in the past, altered things. Like E3 2004 - there was a reason the extended trailer was switched out the day of the press conference...

I guess Nintendo is sensitive with this stuff...

Some quick pics.

Sony's up to something outside the convention center...

I've got more pics from inside the convention center, but as Kobun said, nothing interesting really so far.

Henry's Hunan was a great place, thanks to Wasabiking for the tip. Had the pork fried rice, awesome amount of food for the price.

Too bad the show wasn't last week. In SF, the 1st Tuesday of every month is the day to go into museums, the SF Zoo, and other city sites for free. I really miss Henry's, I work way too far to stop by nowadays. If you guys are comfortable sharing food, and are willing to wait a wile, head down the street to Buca Di Bepo. Yes, it's the same one in your town. It's Italian, family style. Great food, affordable. Just do yourselves a favor and divide up the food tab and drop a few bucks each for tip. And get the booze on a separate tab, I don't want to hear about GAFfers starting a ruckus.

Also, Embedded Systems Conferences, also run by the same company that hosts GDC, is at the South Side (across the street) of Moscone. All hardware, RTOSes, and other geeky stuff. I'm willing to be that if you show them your GDC badge, they'll let you go to the show floor free, you just have to enter your info for their data collection purposes...

Also, if you're out of food options, check out the SFMOMA cafe. Yes, the Museum of Modern Art has a bitchin' grilled chicken sandwich. Semi-pricy for non-SF residents... Oh, and if you head past Chevy's, and if you like beer, go to Thirsty Bear. Awesome micro brew, could care less about the food, but the beer is awesome. About $4 a pint...

Gameplayers Online

Dunno if this is old news, says Revolution will be revealed at GDC from an interview w/ Iwata conducted on 3.6.05. The rest is mostly old stuff like increasing 3rd party support with Revolution and such...

Not sure where the pics came from.

Gameplayers is a pretty big mag in HK btw...

Isn't that exactly the same image as the faked XboX 360 one from awhile back?

This certainly wasn't glossed over on my end. At this point I would be more excited to hear online rumblings for Advance Wars DS, Animal Crossing DS, FF:CC DS, etc. Those games would easily jump to most anticipated if the online components are announced.

I'm hyped for both. If even a slight utterance is made about the Revolution, this could be almost as big as last years E3 (for Nintendo)

Not exactly the same image, but anyways, the pics are probably just placeholder/mock-ups.

Doesn't discredit the interview saying that the unveiling will be at GDC.

I don't see the point of the interview being fake either, coz if it is, it'll be proven false in like, 2 days from when it was posted and ruin the mag's reputation.

Hey guys, can you not post slides? This is copyrighted material from the presenter AND the GDC folks. They give CDs containing these files to people who attend courses and/or charge for them after the show.

Thanks!

They do eventually post them all for free online, at least they did last year. But it's probably best to wait until they post it.

Yeah, that's fine. I know a lot of people who are behind the show, from setting up, selling booths, etc... I'll happily highlight a link to their slide page if/when they make it available for free for everyone.
