Brimley is dead, more dickwaving, I see not much has happened overnight. :P

Hopefully the new week brings some real news so we have something interesting to discuss.

''All of our code and infrastructure are in this room,'' says Bungie community lead Brian Jarrard, part of whose job it is to mix it up with the fans and take nosy journalists around the facility. He points out a heavy door in the rear of the studio where a clunky device actually scans your palm in order to permit entry. ''Only, like, three guys in the building have access. Seems a little like overkill to me — but in a cool, James Bond kind of way.''

Voi?

Looks nothing like that nowadays, but I suppose half a millennium might be long enough to make it happen.

This batch of pictures look incredibly and unflinchingly bad ass. I think we've seen some of them before, but this water pump station/dock is new to me. Very cool.

Edit: I wonder if that turret is operable...heh.

Their all marked as EW exclusives. *shrug* Yeah, I think the architecture we've seen so far is really interesting.

Going off of HBO.

EDIT: Ah, they say the article is new...

So...uh... where's the TV commercials with actual game play? Shouldn't the hype train be leaving the station?

Where's our epic trailer?
I wonder if they're going Mad World style or fast cuts of cool gameplay mixed with cutscene footage (like the Halo 2 commercials)

I bet commercials will run thru the holiday season. Remember, Halo 3 is coming out pretty early this year for such a big game.

Also, when will the BK promotions start? I want to see the King and the Chief together, holding hands and whispering little nothings into each other's ears.

The 24th.

Also on the Major Nelson podcast they say that the update tomorrow is just maintenance. No surprise Dash update. But that's no surprise.

"there are those who said this day would never come, what are they to say now?"
"noone has ever withstood our might"

Excellent voicework!

SERIOUSLY! And that was just after I finished the novels, so I was really excited about where the plot would go in Halo 2...

Oh, and trying to make out the clips that, in retrospect, ended up being from the Arbiter cinematics... I was all like "WHY ARE THE BRUTES DRAGGING THAT POO COLORED DOOD?" I had no idea it was an Elite, and I definitely had no idea I'd be playing as him. =D

what does the calibration dvd consist of?

Contrast, sharpness, etc?

Basically a kind of Halo-themed, easy-to-understand ISF-style calibration. No accessing factory menus, but everything else besides. There will also be the option to buy and use a blue calibration filter for realy advanced settings. We're just trying to figure out a way to make that thing as cheap as possible. Bungie Store shipping charges are a monster we can't tame.

The audio component is very straightforward test tones - but again, it's Halo-themed.

Can't wait to use that Halo calibrator to set up my 42" 1080p Sharp Aquos. Its looking pretty damn fine now, but with something to actually tune it to I know it can only get better looking.

So the calibration is all done within game menus? You don't have to access the TVs built in setting.

Sounds awesome.

Yes, you do have to use your HDTV's menu. The calibration will be good for ALL your games and movies, not just Halo 3.

But don't worry. Sgt. Johnson will make it real easy.

Awesome! This is what I wanted! Bless you Bungie!

You deliver the best game of this year, AND an ISF Calibration tool.

You are Gods among men.

What armor types will everyone be using? I think I'm going to go for the ODST style.

If the whole Elite head hit-detection thing isn't that big of a deal, I think I'll be using the N'tho Scroam Elite variant. Looks badass.

As for Spartan variants, I'm leaning toward the classic MC design, but apparently there are unlockables, so I'll have to see how those look before I really make a decision.

It's a buffet of armor variants. You can heap all of them on your plate and give 'em a taste!

I remember reading about how Burger King was going to be selling something called a "Halo 3 Survival Kit" for 10 dollars as soon as they start up with their halo 3 gig. Anyone know what that "Survival Kit" even is?

When I'm not feeling Elite, I'll probably be going with the Cobra helmet variant for the Spartans. As an Elite, I'll be going classic. Until I see what all variants I unlock. :)

Right now I'm in the quandary of canceling my Best Buy.com order and preordering at a local Gamestop. I avoid giving money to Gamestop whenever possible, but I'd really like to be playing Halo 3 at midnight on the 25th. Right now, with overnight shipping from bestbuy.com, my preorder has an estimated delivery of 9/27. =/ Unfortunately, it seems like I won't know until it actually ships due to the way BB handles preorders. Plus I want the Legendary edition. Choices, choices. =/

I know for a fact that I'll be using the Close Quarters Combat helmet, but I'm not sure what the rest of my armor will look like. Depending on what the selection is like by the time I decide to play multiplayer, I'll probably spend around thirty minutes just tweaking my armor. :D

No kidding. So many customization possibilities. I will be tweaking the hell out of my character when it comes to armor types, colors, etc. Can't wait.

So I'm wondering a bit about which game I should focus on (multiplayer), Halo 3 or CoD4. I don't actually really like Halo tbh, but everyone's gonna play it, including my friends. Now the multiplayer isn't bad (nor is it special), and I never really played Halo 2, so I'm not good at it. I'm actually quite good at CoD2, but none of my friends is gonna buy CoD4 (stupid bitches :/), so would it be wise to even start with the Halo 3 MP?

Nope, cause you don't like it.
