And my question is WHY? It's a great game (especially multiplayer), and it's the grandpappy of HALO! I mean you'd think there would be multiplayer sessions of this game 24/7, especially with all the Halo fans playing 360.

What's the difference between Best Buy and EB related to how early one would have to show up?

I was planning on showing up at my EB around 9pm. Think that is wise or should it be earlier/later?

Halo fans on 360 are playing Halo 2. And other games. For as great as Durandal was, a lot of its design seems reeeeeally archaic now, without even mentioning the motion sickness that a lot of people seemed to have.

Also, the rocket launcher is overpowered. And no coop survival?!

Ok so I had my copy of Halo 3 pre-ordered in Bellevue, Wa and now I am moving to Arizona. I can only cancel my pre-order and get my money back, not transfer it. How scarce is the game going to be? I'd like to think they are making enough for even the average joe to walk in after any midnight launch and pick up a copy. I am not looking for the legendary edition. Just the CE or the regular. Am I going to have trouble getting the game on the 25th?

The difference is in the preorder. Best Buy would be just general. People would line up early. Compared to those who preordered who will show up at EB couple hours before midnight.

Regular will be everywhere, CE might be harder to find. Legendary is what I'm anticipating to be gone everywhere day one

Does anyone remember how many weapons were left un-announced before Halo 2 came out? I was trying to think of some new stuff Bungie might have slipped into Halo 3. I wonder if a Jackal shield would work.

It could have depleting energy as it's being shot. Maybe dual wieldable.
 
Whats up with clans in Halo 3? Are they in? Are clans becoming something that will be in a dashboard update and will be cross-game compatible?

Bungie themselves aren't offering clan support, so it's up to Xbox Live.

They're not built into the game. And yeah, it's rumoured that they'll be in the Fall Dashboard update.

Isn't that stationary? I was thinking more along the lines of something you carry around. I do agree that it would be redundant, though. Three shield type items is a little overboard :lol

Apparently there is no built-in clan support for Halo 3, but it is widely rumored that there will be in the next dashboard update, which, voila, comes out before Halo 3.
 
bungie, are you guys have no radar playlists for the hardcore players? please say yes, please say yes, please say yes.

mlg needs to pay you money just to have a playlist titled MLG.

Allegedly, rumor has it, unconfirmed, you spoil bioshock, cats and dogs living together, etc.

Don't they usually hype it and do interviews and previews and such? Could they do a surprise one?

Very good K/D ratios. Of course, it doesn't help when a lot of people quit out of games you're severely beating them in (thus making them 'unreliable' for H2 stats, and subsequently not count), and when you're in the UK (and so have to put up with some terrible host advantage, as well as your perfectly accurate shots not counting and going straight through players). BT's network infrastructure and H2's netcode = massive fail.

Ah well, at least these various problems will be fixed for Halo 3.

If you pre-order from EB and pay in full, you can just stroll in anytime from 9-11pm, check in, then head back at midnight to pick up your game. AFAIK, they're still taking preorders on every edition, including the Cat Helmet.

EDIT: Apparently I know nothing about Best Buy. Lawlz. : )

I'm not a big fan of GS/EB, but they may still be your best bet for getting the game fastest.

Thats true, we don't. I think it'd be really stupid for MS to not debut it before or close to the Halo 3 launch, though. Really stupid.

Bungie confirmed in a recent podcast that there's no in-game clan support, and went into some detail as why. The rumored (and Frank was clear to make it know he was going off the same rumors we've all heard) clan support coming to the Dashboard was mentioned as a possible solution down the road. I should mention that FASA said the same thing when they were asked about clan support in Shadowrun not tool long ago, so who knows.

It's one of the most asked-for features, I do hope MS has been listening. (Actually, I know they've been listening - I just don't know if anything is being done about it.)

And the Live notice said the service was going down for "upgrades" to the system, so here's hoping.

You can pre-order it at Best Buy, and you have the option of paying in full or paying it in full once you get it. However, if you pre-order it you need to put at least put $5 down.

I already have it preordered, but I decided to check out the list just to see if mine was doing it. And I look down and there's my city name (Watertown), and I scroll to the right and there's the street name (Arsenal) and I scroll some more and what's that? Watertown, Mass.?

What are the chances of that? :lol

It's been in the hopper for so long that it shows up in every dash update rumorpalooza.

I'd err to the side of confirmed, what with all the clan-favored shooters coming out this holiday, along with some ginchy titles like Rock Band.

No, I know all about the fact that there are no clans built into Halo 3. I've been in every Halo thread in the past six months. (And about the rumors of clan support coming).

Sorry for being confusing, Ghal. I wouldn't have wanted to make you write all that out for no reason. :lol

I'm just wondering why armubaba said that the Dash Update is definitely coming before the 25th.

Seeing as Halo 3 is so far ahead regarding online featureset, it wouldn't surprise me some of the changes and upgrades are for Halo 3, or Halo 3 is the first game to take advantage of them.

I don't think anyone was happy about that, and that's why we're hoping it's in the fall Dashboard update. Given limited resources and the rumor that a universal system was coming, Bungie focused their efforts elsewhere.

Bungie is lazy. See, they already made Halo 3 based off the Halo 2 engine, but porting the clan support over was too much work.

Eh, its Gamestop/EB. Different stores tell different people different things. I planned on pre-paying the entire amount anyways, but it wouldn't surprise me if Clerky McClerkstein lied.

Halo 3 also has a copy of Lockout with some added jungle green in it.
 
Oh, I just discovered the OXM interview about playing Halo 3 (thanks to the OP!). Such a tease...Playing Halo is like coming home, it all feels so comfortable. I want to go home!
