Actually, they tried it with a mongoose first, off the mancannons instead of being thrown by a pitcher. Worked great.

They switched to rockets when it was discovered that the rocket will spin out of control like a failed NASA launch, complete with corkscrewing contrail.

oh god, YES! :lol

I seriously can't wait to see all the variants that come out of forge. It's basically endless.. plus the fact that they can release more toys for it via DLC?

I didn't think this before but now more than ever I'm thinking GOTY.

What, you honestly thought Bioshock would take the crown? ;)

Baseball. In Forge. With Gravity Hammers, rocket launcher weirdness, and real, functioning bases. The pitcher is the guy with the rocket launcher. Rockets can be hit out of the park.

BASEBALL.

In Forge.

I think Will Tuttle invented it. I can't be sure because my mind was so blown.
Well you just blew mine :lol

Can't wait.

Forge has gone from a feature I was marginally interested in to on part with Campaign co-op over the past couple of weeks. A tool for serious map designs and absurd delights.

Halo rocket baseball? Wtf! I need to see this.

Someone at Bungie should do an demo video collecting some of the crazy stuff you can do with forge.

Does anyone know if you can attach some type of description to gametypes when you upload them? If baseball ended up on bungie recommends, outside of a thing on BNet, how would anyone know that rockets serve as the ball?

You can provide a description to saved films so I'm pretty sure it would be the same with Forge.

By now I've learned that most of the usability stuff you can come up with, Bungie has implemented or thought about but it didn't work. Probably a result of all the testing they do. With most other games it's always a case of "how the fuck could they forget that?", with Bungie it's "damn, I can't believe they thought about that!"

This reminds me... We never got another VIDoc. :(
This is true. I assume the rest were saved for the bonus disks. There are two short behind the scenes videos at the Comcast site, though, and they are quite good. Not on par with the vidocs, as they don't have the timing or narrative threads that run through those, but some good stuff in there none the less.

The "exclusive" videos on the bottom. The first on the left is about Halo 2, but the other two next to it are what I'm talking about. (I mention this in case you or others haven't seen them. Good stuff.)

So, what happens if Bungie releases some priced DLC for something like Forge, and some people don't want to buy it? Will they not be able to play with their friends who have downloaded the content?

If they're like the maps, then yes those players could not load the content. I'm guessing the DLC that is not free will have a similar distribution as the two map packs - charge at first, free later so that the community is not split for long.

But then again, Crackdown has a cool feature where you can play with the DLC if the other player has it, as a way of sampling what it has to offer. So who knows.

IF they want to release DLC for forge AND want to ask money for it, I'd imagine they'll release them along with maps and the objects will be tied to that map. (similar to how you can't use the Elephant on certain maps) it would limit the value of said maps.

edt: or what Ghaleon said.

I can't remember the exact place I heard it, either magazine or message board, that Bungie (more specifically, i think Frankie) said they won't be doing the wait and it'll be free option for H3.

I know. I keep up with GAF as much as possible. Thank you though.

I figured, I just thought some others who missed the couple of pages of discussion when those went could use a reminder. It takes the sting out of no new vidocs, just a little.

As does the new music in both. Mmmmm. Marty.

Can someone clear something up for me? ... I thought the ad that we saw last night was only a teaser of a longer version? But from what Ive seen today and on mktplace it seems like that was the actual thing?

Can any one confirm this? I thought the full ad was to be unveiled on Friday at Yahoo Games?

According to the full PR (in the OP, Articles) it's the first in a series of online "testimonial" videos. The actual ad debuts on TV on Sunday, during a football game. After that, additional testimonial videos like this one will appear online and on Marketplace.

What will the actual gameplay look like?
I could tell you if my boss had let me go to the SF event. Can you guys nuke my university servers? That'll teach him.

Why is that rubber wheel reflecting so much light? I know a big tada was made over Halo 3's lighting, but could it be using canned pre-lit textures in some instances?

Amazing new screens... love how you can tell they really nailed their concept art in a lot of them. Because they still look like concept art. Can't wait for the 25th! I'm actually going to marathon through the campaign. (I always try and spread out SP over a few days.)

That's the headlight of the vehicle in the foreground.

I pre-ordered this the other day when I got 360. I'm not that excited, but it will have fun co-op. I don't have xbox live so....ya.

So what are everybody's favourite chapter titles?

Mine would have to be from HALO, just after you rescue Keyes aboard the Truth and Reconciliation:

'Shut up and get behind me....Sir.

I'm a simple man. Falling down tube after tube to walk up to a door and it open to a hellish landscape infested with Flood vermin as 100,000 Years War scrolls up at the bottom rocks me every time.

oh and add in the dates when the commercial started in addition to the figures of the marines with fucking metal armor. Yeah sure took me to the end to realize it wasn't a commercial for vets..,..some real smart guys I guess lol

edit: and the dude has a fucking cyborg leg>>WHAT THIS ISNT FOR A REAL VET?????!>!>!>!>!>

I would have been your daddy.

OR

If I only had a super weapon.
