13 terrible, terrible days. I thought I could stay away, I thought I could... but only one other person I know is as hyped for this as I am and it's not the same as chatting about it at work as it is trying to talk about it over Live :(

Yeah I know, the days are passing slow right now. For some reason Im psychologically aware of the wait as only a week.... like Ive marked next Tuesday as the one week to go mark in my head, but what that has done is actually create this false goal in my mind for next Tuesday so I have to constantly remind myself that its a whole other week again from next Tuesday.

Its all good though. You know this really is like what it used ot be as a Kid waiting for Xmas day. The build up with family then the last 2 or 3 days was unbearable. Then Xmas eve trying to sleep. Its gonna be like that for me with Halo 3 as I ordered my Legendary off the net so Ill either get it a day early or actually on the day - but no midnight launch for me.

Edit: yeah as soon as I hit 150 posts I lost my junior status. Thats the way it works for everyone I though...

i enjoyed halo, wouldnt say the story was its strong point tho, didnt get the chance to play halo 2 due to lack of xbox back then, and ive not bothered getting it to play via BC on the 360 yet, as far as im concerned, what made the SP good in halo was the feel of the combat, atmosphere, weapons etc, cant say i was impressed with the story

as for mentioning pgr4, its coming out 1 week after halo 3, pgr4 takes priority for me im afraid

Yeah I have to agree with you there. As far as the story goes, it can be tough to get into. It takes some effort and if you commit yourself to it and connect with the characters and really use your imagination it becomes quite a good sci-fi yarn. It doesn't communicate itself very easily though I think... you have to want to get involved.

See, the first one is "Story Lite", get on, kill stuff, get off... pretty much. But Halo 2 really starts fleshing out all three factions and made it far, far more interesting. I fully expect Halo 3 to blow that stuff out of the water and pull out all the stops.

Not sure how many of you guys listen the GameTheoryShow podcast... but next week the one and only Frankie, aka Stinkles will be on the show. Its out on Tuesday so check it out! And if you dont already you should check it out every week -- its up there with GFWradio and 1upyours for me. Great podcast.
I do enjoy having Frankie in my ear, so I'll have to check this out.

Sensual

no pal60 support? oh well, guess i cant play it after all :P

edit: unreliable wiki says it works in pal60 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Xbox_games_compatible_with_Xbox_360

No actually you can use VGA. I just played through Halo 2 with VGA but what you must do is this:

Dont connect to Live through the Halo 2 main menu. Simply create a profile and go from there -- as soon as you connect to Live it says that you cant play in PAl60. Strange I know but it works... dont connect and youll be fine. And yes I recommend picking it up and running through it. Unelss youre getting the Legendary Ed(which IO doubt), because it has all the cut-scenes from the first 2 games,

Q: How do I become a Member???
A: Post 150 replies, or be a Junior Member for 150 days.
I'm obviously special. :S Or maybe it isn't automated? I'd be surprised though.

Somewhat off topic: I recently got a new HDTV and it has HD component input, so I can finally enjoy Halo 1 on an LCD. I used to use my computer LCD monitor for my 360 via the VGA cable, but the cable doesn't support 50Hz and Halo 1 PAL only supports 50Hz, so they were incompatible. It's nice to play through Halo 1 again on Xbox (I did my recent in-order play-through on Halo PC because of this monitor issue). It's tough choosing which is my favourite level between "The Silent Cartographer" and "Halo"; I always really enjoy both of those levels - they both have lots of variety in the encounter situations between parts of the level and they both feature warthog madness, all good Halo-esque fun. :)

Whoa, I like that second add much better, though it needs the first as part of the setup.

Actually, I'm wondering if that is even the second add? Isn't the add campaign supposed to end with that shot?

I dunno about you guys, but I like the new commercials. They're very light, and the music and pacing is nice. I could've done without the creepy MC headswerve at the end though.

You should bump the ad campaign thread (NOT the Jaffe one) and post it there so more people take notice.

Edit: Is that song Chopin?

What is this Jaffe thread that is being referred to, did I miss some dramaz? :o

Yeah it totally is:

Must be pretty freaky seeing yourself running around in the game (getting killed :P). Frankie surely to be in their next game - he would make an excellent pimp-pirate sailing the seven seas!
IIRC, all of the Marines in Halo 1 were based off of Bungie employees. Looks like they went back to those roots in Halo 3. :lol

I really enjoyed the second ad except for that, well, freakishly weird head bob thing at the end. Yeah....

On a related note, I am wondering how successful this ad campaign will actually be. I mean, yeah, it's Halo, but I don't think the general public will really like these commercials. We'll just have to see, I guess.

Either way they'll draw attention to the game. I'm guessing that some mainstream media outlets will report on the commercials, since they're so... different... from regular video game advertising.

If there is a marine modeled after Luke, you won't have to make sure he lives. You'll be more concerned about getting kills of your own. "Goddammit, that fucking marine went ahead and killed all the Brutes again! What the fuck? I want some kills too, you bastard!"
