I guess so, I haven't read their article, though.

You're speaking a different language to me.

Edit: To clarify, this was the original Garland-penned script, dated February 06, 2005. Same one that Narcogen at Rampancy.net showed tidbits of and Latino Review gushed over.

Was chief depicted as an albino in the film? If it was the Latino Review one then Chief would be an albino.

Some of you missed my point.

My point being that people are using spoiler tags in this thread already. No need for this. Only use them for actual spoilers.

DON'T SPOILER TAG THINGS THAT AREN'T SPOILERS.

There.

Yeah I totally agree. Too many inconsistencies mean Im basically highlighting every spoiler I come across. As these leaks happen thats just gonna be too risky. I think were fine on GAF though -- most of us here just want to experience the story cold and we respect our fellow Halo fans enough not to drop any majors spoilers in a poorly labeled spoiler tag.

If someone wants to post something huge just make sure that the un-spoiler tagged text before the actual spoiler explains very obviously that there is a serious spoiler there

Halo may be coming out on the PS Triple, but it's still last gen. DVD games blow, lol.

Dude, I just bought these Oreos, the Vanilla flavored ones? I don't know what made them so superior over the black ones, but they were DELICIOUS.

I don't blame you. I'm going to try and stick it out till an uploaded copy is confirmed (or I read that spoilers are starting to leak).

Yeah, the same thing happened to me with Bioshock. I started highlighting tags because I had gotten sort of far in the game and a lot of the stuff in tags wasn't really spoilers. Then I got the end ruined for me. Totally my fault, but I got sucked in to it.

I had "the scene" spoiled for me. :( No mistakes this time, but it doesn't really make up for it as I don't care near as much about Halo's story as I did Bioshock's.

I'm probably going to bail in the next few days or week, sooner if big leaks start happening.

Yeah. I'm not really sure what people expect to have happen here. Here of all places it's unlikely to get story spoilers because of the approval wait to even be able to post here, then it's just going to deleted by a mod pretty darn fast. Major news sites and here should be fine, you just want to stay away from places like Gamefaqs boards, etc. I might bail a few days beforehand, but I think people abandoning the internet completely right now are pretty ridiculous.

SailorDaravon said:

"Pretty darn fast" means that it will exist, even if only for a moment. And at the rate that most Halo fans keep up with these threads, it'll be viewed by multiple persons before its deletion. That's why as soon as I hear of a leak, I'm gone.

Welp, I guess this ends my extended GAF sessions for a while.

In addition to interwebz lockdown, y'all also might want to not want to check any messages you receive on XBL in case some cockface on your FL decides to ruin it that way...

Yeah, I think GAF will be safe for a while.

Yep exactly my point. Too many the spoiler tags are used in an attempt at wit, which means everyone ends up reading the fucking things anyway. Well be cool as long as we get clear indication of massive spoiler ahead. Like I said though, I doubt anyone here will even have info as theyll want to wait until they get to play it.... although I wouldnt put it past some KZ or Sony fanboy dropping one in just to be a tool.

Are poorly labeled spoilers enough to get a perma-ban here?

I think the odds of any spoilers getting posted here unmarked and intentionally are practically zero. Someone would have had to intentionally created an account some time ago to have already been approved, and to make a thread with a spoiler title they would have to no longer be a junior, and even if they just make a post in this or whatever thread, it's basically a permaban. I just don't see it happening. I mean hell, if you're going to be that crazy about it, you shouldn't be online at all the past several months, looking at ANY screens, impressions, videos, ads, or anything.

Now, when new b.net goes up, I'm gone. The fact that people that have it early could have the screens....

I'll be going on GAF Blackout Mode in a few days, too, but not before I get a few of you on my XBL friends list! I'm finally getting broadband at my new place (it's been 6 months!) and a new XBL account tomorrow, and I'd love to spend the rest of the wait until H3 playing with you guys.

GT: hayguyzlol
luv u 4ever. :D

Not reading GAF weeks ahead of release because of spoiler potential? Cmon, you cant be serious? If you get spoiled at GAF you have no one to blame but yourself.

GAF is pretty safe, but I would rather not risk it. However, we will see how things play out over the next 14 days.

Well, those things have nothing to do with my not wanting the ending spoiled for me. But having it all laid out like that does make it seem unlikely that someone would post a unmarked spoiler intentionally.. But I am crazy enough about the ending of the Halo plotline to not want to risk it, so I'll still leave teh internets once it's leaked.

Seeing a leaked screen of a later level would suck. I know seeing one for Gears would have impacted how I reacted to the game when I played through it.

What if theres a store near you selling it early, but you miss out because of fear? Fear, Coco, FEAR! Dont let it control your life brotha.... what would Masterchief do in a situation like this? He wouldnt leave the internet -- he would continue posting, and flying the flag. Then on the 25th he will head for the Jungle - just like you.

I'll be too busy playing Halo 2 online MP for the first [substantial] time in nearly two years to really miss GAF. :D

Wait, are the screenshots posted on the front page somewhere then? I assumed you had to click a link somewhere to get to that part.

OP updated to fix most of the formatting errors that crept up this morning. Added article about the upcoming TV ads, and the change log the top.

Threat level warning added as well. Thanks, Buttonbasher.

I've delted my bookmarks to all gaming sites other than GAF, Ascendant Justice, HBO front page and Bungie.net front page. I'm *one* notch away from going dark.

I would too, but I'm still waiting for stupid MS to fix my 360 (50+ days now). I should get it back before Halo 3 is released, if not I have a backup plan. I guess I'm "lucky" it broke when it did, a week later and it would have overlapped Halo 3's release.

There could be sleeper cells on gaf right now. They're waiting to strike at any moment with spoilers.

That part of the site most likely won't go active until right before launch. Just avoid anything that Bungie doesn't post - ie stick to articles.

Also, for the new page:

I can't leave Gaf. It will be safer here then most places, trust me.
I posted here during the Halo 2 leak and was okay. But I'm more careful now, because the site has grown a great deal, and frankly it's harder to moderate now since the mod staff hasn't grown proportionally. Tread carefully.

Sadly, a rotten bastard can spoil a few major things in the campaign in five words or less. And will be delighted to do so. Thread titles are not safe.

In fact, you might not even want to read the "last" page of this thread at any given time, just in case someone drops a spoiler in and you catch up to it before some gallant individual can get it cleaned up.

Going to be a tough two weeks to go without spoilers, good luck guys.

I know some people don't think there are assholes out there just waiting to spoil some Halo 3 story goodness, but did you think there would be guys driving by Barnes & Noble at the Harry Potter launch (6th book) yelling out
"SNAPE KILLS DUMBLEDORE!"
??

I'm telling you, once this is truly leaked, you're not safe anywhere. The moment one of the big dogs here says anything about a spoiler being posted, I'm out.

I'm worried about something similar happening when I go to pickup Halo 3.

First, didn't realize that was still considered a "new" spoiler. Thought that was all over the internets months ago and that it was old news. Really REALLY sorry if I fucked that up for anyone.

Second, bring your PSP or DS or whatever. Headphones on. There you go.

omg i didn't think about that. WEARING EARPLUGS FOR THE NEXT TWO WEEKS CONFIRMED.

SHIT!

Aight I'm outa here. Let's see what I can do for two weeks without the internet.
Thanks for the warning. See everyone soon.

Bye Guys.

Ghaleon get out while you still can. The OP can wait.

(xbox live wont be safe either. be careful of mic chatter guys. Only play with parties you know.)

Anywhere?

Sadly, this is true. While going dark will hopefully decrease my chance of spoilers, I actually had Halo 2 spoiled for me in a different way. I remember the moment vividly - I was at work, under a stage, running some wires to an amp. I got a phone call from an acquaintance. I answered the phone and he asked me if I'd heard that Halo 2 leaked, and then said that he'd downloaded it and played through it the previous night. I asked him to please not tell me anything about it, and he agreed, and then started talking about how fun it was. He said, "and the levels where you play as the Elite are awesome because you can go invisible." He tried to clean it up by saying, "uh, I mean, the levels where you fight the elites, you can get the invisibility powerup." But it was done. After he apologized and we got off the phone, I laid in the dark for a few moments, contemplating what had just happened. I was very sad, that day.

Anyway, Uno Ill Nino speaks the truth. You're not safe anywhere.

Yeah, it is a really old spoiler, and there is a statue of limitations on these things. I just thought it was a little better to play it safe.
