In this thread (on page ???) you can find an overview of all Tower defense games. It lists which of them use fixed and which free paths.Sean said:Are there any other games similar to Fieldrunners on the App Store?
I've bought The Creeps which is a good game (on sale at 99 cents), but the enemies move on a pre-defined maze which just isn't quite as fun. A lot of the fun and strategy in Fieldrunners came from kinda building your own maze to slow down the enemies. I have also tried GeoDefense Lite which is neat but again on a pre-defined path.
Is Fieldrunners the only game like that (empty field where you create the path)? I have never played a tower defense game before the iPhone so I'm not sure if that's the norm or not.
From the Mass Effect 2 twitter page:ha1f said:Is there a disclaimer on the Mass Effect app page that says "Don't buy this if you have an OG Touch"? Because honestly, getting continuously murked in boss battles because I can't dodge since the level hasn't fucking loaded yet is getting ridiculously annoying.

I don't understand this, why do they want to stop selling Rolando 1 while it still sells, and probably still will when 2 is outCulex said:I believe that they are pulling Rolando 1 to make way for the sequel on July 1st.

whether this is permanent or just to garner more sales, who knows!

Unless they plan to bring it back liek 6 months later, full price, and people will buy it before it goes again!
From the short time I've had with it, the core gameplay is pretty fun and the story seems to be worth the trouble. The framerate problems make zero sense, though. If you got full 3D games running no problem on the system, there's no excuse for framerate problems on a top-down, 2D shooter.jonnybryce said:Maybe I'll give it another chance if this actually happens.
It's gross that they released it this way.
:lol gnnnngh bought this for 2.39 yesterday. Oh well.. atleast it rocks!lawblob said:WordFu - Ngmoco, Inc. - on sale $1

I just wish they'd fix the broken controls. I can't get that virtual d-pad to work in that game, I even have problems getting close to someone and facing them so I can talk to them. And then I play a game like Hero of Sparta, which has an awesome virtual analogue stick.kairu said:I just picked up Zenonia. That game is pretty amazing! Its like playing a 16bit classic RPG! Kind of reminds me of a cross between Crusaders of Centy and A Link to the Past. Very nostalgic!
Speaking as the developer of a number of 2D iPhone games, 2D isn't any less hard on the system than 3D, especially since it still *is* 3D, just all the polygons are flat. In fact, it can be a LOT harder on the system, because you are going to be loading a lot more, larger, higher-detail textures than with the average 3D game, and can't really use compression on them because that makes them look ugly. In fact, there could be so many/large textures that they don't have enough memory to load them all without crashing the game, so they have to stream them off of storage, and on the iPhone that's INCREDIBLY slow.Flunkie said:The framerate problems make zero sense, though. Really? Interesting. I've never developed much of anything, so I wouldn't know.. but it just seems like, from a purely observational standpoint, that 2D would be a lot less taxing on performance. When you explain it that way, though, I can see how that would be much different.Dreamwriter said:Speaking as the developer of a number of 2D iPhone games, 2D isn't any less hard on the system than 3D, especially since it still *is* 3D, just all the polygons are flat.
