So...
for some reason I ended up downloaded Epic Pet Wars.
Not really digging it. At all.
If I delete it, will it keep giving me notifications about my pet on Facebook?
Is there a way to un-link it from my facebook?
Sup with that?

Are there any other games similar to Fieldrunners on the App Store?

I've bought The Creeps which is a good game (on sale at 99 cents), but the enemies move on a pre-defined maze which just isn't quite as fun. A lot of the fun and strategy in Fieldrunners came from kinda building your own maze to slow down the enemies. I have also tried GeoDefense Lite which is neat but again on a pre-defined path.

Is Fieldrunners the only game like that (empty field where you create the path)? I have never played a tower defense game before the iPhone so I'm not sure if that's the norm or not.

In this thread (on page ???) you can find an overview of all Tower defense games. It lists which of them use fixed and which free paths.

GoldRush £1.79 ***** Amazing!
StoneLoops £0.59 ***** Amazing!
Knights OnRush £0.59 ***** Amazing!

Total £2.79 of Sheer Bloody Amazing!!!

I love the app store. The production quality of the newer games are stunning for the price, especially when you think some of these could be £20 DS games....

Ok, WordFu is one of the most addictive games i've played on the iPhone. I can barely put the game down. This is a must-buy for 99 cents. After each little round you can also email / Twitter your high score as a challenge, which is a nice touch. This game is fantastic.

Is there a disclaimer on the Mass Effect app page that says "Don't buy this if you have an OG Touch"? Because honestly, getting continuously murked in boss battles because I can't dodge since the level hasn't fucking loaded yet is getting ridiculously annoying.
From the Mass Effect 2 twitter page:

"In the next 10 days there will be a ME Galaxy patch on iTunes. Estimated 50% performance boost for lower-end devices with the patch. -Neha"

Want to pull the trigger on Rolando, but paranoid they will drop it to $1 before 2 comes out...

Same here. Its pretty likely they will drop the price; definitely wouldn't buy right now. Wait a few days, at least.

Cool. I'll wait for this.

I just picked up Zenonia. That game is pretty amazing! Its like playing a 16bit classic RPG! Kind of reminds me of a cross between Crusaders of Centy and A Link to the Past. Very nostalgic!

I believe that they are pulling Rolando 1 to make way for the sequel on July 1st.

http://forums.toucharcade.com/showpost.php?p=324331&postcount=215

whether this is permanent or just to garner more sales, who knows!
I don't understand this, why do they want to stop selling Rolando 1 while it still sells, and probably still will when 2 is out o_O

Unless they plan to bring it back liek 6 months later, full price, and people will buy it before it goes again!

::head explodes::

Star Defense is so fucking hard. I'm on the third galaxy and I do fine until Wave 45ish, where those birds fly so damn fast and sooner or later all my sheilds are destroyed. I've tried 3 or 4 times. It's annoying to spend 15 minutes on the easy part to see if your new strategy will work and then fail again during the last 2 minutes.

Probably going to stop playing it and demote it from my favorite games page ::gasp!::.

They just want all the sales and attention to go to the newest in the franchise. It doesn't make complete sense, but if Rolando 2 comes out they can't price it the same as Rolando 1, that wouldn't make sense either. So if they lower Rolando 2's price, they run the risk of cannibalizing Rolando 2's sales with reviews like "Not really a huge difference, just go with Rolando 1, it's cheaper and similar."

Maybe I'll give it another chance if this actually happens.

It's gross that they released it this way.
From the short time I've had with it, the core gameplay is pretty fun and the story seems to be worth the trouble. The framerate problems make zero sense, though. If you got full 3D games running no problem on the system, there's no excuse for framerate problems on a top-down, 2D shooter.

Thanks for the wordfu heads-up. Fun game, just broke 1750!

Nice score! I just got 799 and I am physically exhausted, I felt like I had used every word in the English language available. Browsing Twitter some people are posting amazing scores. Its always depressing feeling like you accomplished something, only to see people doing it much, much better. :lol

WordFu is excellent.

I just wish they'd fix the broken controls. I can't get that virtual d-pad to work in that game, I even have problems getting close to someone and facing them so I can talk to them. And then I play a game like Hero of Sparta, which has an awesome virtual analogue stick.

Speaking as the developer of a number of 2D iPhone games, 2D isn't any less hard on the system than 3D, especially since it still *is* 3D, just all the polygons are flat. In fact, it can be a LOT harder on the system, because you are going to be loading a lot more, larger, higher-detail textures than with the average 3D game, and can't really use compression on them because that makes them look ugly. In fact, there could be so many/large textures that they don't have enough memory to load them all without crashing the game, so they have to stream them off of storage, and on the iPhone that's INCREDIBLY slow.

They have cards near the checkout aisle next to the Cellphone cards, XBL Cards, Korean MMORPG cards that have a code for a free copy of Rolando. I got one last week, when i bought my 3GS

Apparently Best Buy has cards to redeem free Loco Roco, supported by ads.
edit: beaten

I bit on WordFu. It's fun, but my best score is 250ish. I can't think of more words, I guess I'm not good at this type of game :/

I started Assassin's Creed, I'm having more fun with it than I did with the console version :lol Cool game, controls well and looks nice.

Wait, don't you have to pay for the actual Korean MMORPG card?

Really? Interesting. I've never developed much of anything, so I wouldn't know.. but it just seems like, from a purely observational standpoint, that 2D would be a lot less taxing on performance. When you explain it that way, though, I can see how that would be much different.

Still.. the performance sucks. :P

I got 550 on WordFu with playing about 15 minutes. (One of) the tricks is to make sure you get an "s" - that way, when you think of a word, it can count twice by adding an "s" on the end and making it plural.

Has anyone been playing Bionic Surfer?
bionic_surfer_01.jpg

Youtube Video
iTunes [free version]

I just tried the demo and it's surprisingly fun. It's kinda tacky and cheesy in it's presentation, which adds to the awesome level in my book. The gameplay is definitely fun platforming and you have different guns like a gravity gun to move and stack items and some enemies.

I'll pick it up in the near future since I'm attempting to sort out and play all of my many games. Anyone playing this?

Whats the average battery life of the 3gS suppsoed to be? I used it alot today. Wasnt at full charge but it went to red in 5 to 6 ish hours today. (Mostly Apps and surfing the net).

No GAF love for Archon? I'm the only one that's posted impressions so far. Weird, because it's a damn awesome game (the controls leave a bit to be desired though).

Boy do I really hate ads that appear in games that I've bought. ngmoco:) games and AdMob ads in particular annoy me. I've managed to block all the AdMob ads (although some apps using them detect that I'm blocking them, so those don't work, but not the ngmoco ones yet.

Not a recommendation post as I haven't played it yet but an info availability post. Warpack Grunts from Strange Flavour the devs behind SlotZ Racer and Flick Fishing should be available in the US store tomorrow. (Not out in the US store at the moment)

Thanks for the reminder. It's up on the UK store... Only 59p.

Must resist! Must be strong... IT'S ONLY 59P!!! Must resist... Must be strong...

Edit: What the hell is up with the quote in my post!? No matter what I do it will not display it correctly!
Edit: FIXED

I only played 5 times total, but around game 4 I realized that you can use the same letter more than once. That seemingly opened up a crapload of words for me. I also abused the hell out of making words plural. :D
