Stoney Mason said:This is an over-rated idea imo. Lots of games crack the top ten that are above that size limit. The #1 factor for a game selling are brand power, quality, name recognition, ease of use, and uniqueness. I think arguably all those factors are more important than getting under the 10mb limit.

Long story short, Eurocenter did not have the right to use the sound effects, registered levels (levels 5 and up), or the Abuse trademark in their game "Alien Abuse".
I am the producer of the original Abuse game, and it has been very distressing to me and to the original developers of the game to watch them do this.
Please stop those lies. We have contacted you several times and you were not able to show us any legal documents that you own the rights on the content or name. We are fully aware of the crack.com situation which has released the game as public domain and that went backrupt in 98. It's really a shame that you come now more than 10 years after that and suddenly feel bad about releasing the game as public domain and try to make us look like thieves.

Remember that ass old PC game "Abuse" by Crack.com? They went bust and released the game into the public domain.
Eurocenter ported and modified the game and released it for the iPhone as "Alien Abuse".
Yesterday, Apple pulled it from the App Store, and lo and behold, an official "Abuse" port was released for the iPhone.

The fRaBS site was even hosted on the official crack.com site and supported by the main abuse programmer Jonathan Clark.
But this sound effect story is just a reason to get Alien Abuse removed from appstore, as soon as we have been aware of this problem we have remade all sounds effects and submitted an update to Apple (in April), but you have continued to say to Apple that we were using your sounds effect! What a fair person !

I don't known about American Law but in Europe taking properties owned by a bankrupted company for personal use is a crime and send you directly to jail.
I will not be surprise that Jonathan Clark is just ashamed to get involved in such story, he is an intelligent and successful guy and don't need to get money such way.

Like someone has said previously in the thread, you were just waiting carefully our release to jump on us and take the code and money.

quick question that i think i know the question to - does the iphone still have the 9 pages of icon limit? i thought i remember it saying you can still install over that but you just have to find it in spotlight? i'm not yet at 9 pages but just curious.

It's impossible to get a decent view of the play-area, the path design lends itself to practically no strategizing, and it is pure rock-paper-scissors with the weapons, meaning one weapon does zero damage to a particular enemy, etc.
I'm glad I waited til it was 59p, but I wish there was a lite version so I couldve tried it beforehand. It just first register with me in anyway. It strikes me as style over substance, and I don't even think it's that stylish!lawblob said:Played the first few levels of Star Defense. Game is flat out bad, IMO. "Big name brand hype" = GAF hype, am I rite?mrkgoo said:I try not to fall for big name brand hype. Not saying that the game is bad, but it just doesn't look like a game I want to play (The Creeps and Geo Defense are fine enough TC for me). I'll probably never purchase either Rolando, or Doom Resurrection, SPider and so on. They just don't look appealing to me.
Yeah, I'm probably missing out on some great games, but it's not like I have a shortage. You have to draw the line somewhere.
