Can someone with Iphone 4 test a few intensive games and report how their performance stacks up against 3GS? I know Ipad has some problems with framerate problems with upscaled iphone games.

If anyone has Espgaluda 2 (everyone should have it!) run that and make sure to play it with large screen option, that's where 3GS can't quite keep up the framerate.

Wow, atm both EA and Gameloft reduced tons of their top games (EA did all of em) to $0.99. From Gameloft: Brothers in Arms 2, NOVA, GT Racing something, Castle of Magic and I think a few others.

anyone else pick up the Red Star? i think it just came out today. woot

I grabbed the lite version, probably won't buy the full. It's definitely a game you need at least a 3GS for; first one I've fired up that's given my 2nd gen touch any framerate issues. Not bad aside from the shit framerate.

You think so? I love the fact that they ported a PS2 game so succesfully (the effects and animations are very ps2-like and from what I've seen, graphics haven't even been downgraded). But the controls are too clunky for me, especially combined with the slight framerate drop (even on 3GS) when you're in combat, it just makes fighting a jarring experience.

On a different note, I just discovered Circuit_Strike.One and HOLY SHIT that is by far the most stylish game I've played on the iPhone. Definitely not for everyone and has a bit of a learning curve but man oh man, if you liked Rez, try this, it's one damn awesome overwhelming synesthetic shooter with Rez/Tron-like visuals/music that have a more trippy industrial twist. Reminds me of Every Extend Extra. BTW, I don't see EEE for the iphone, is there a good clone of it out there?

It appears Grokion is having a 48 hour sale as well, 99 cents.

Game is pretty much Metroid and the developer has promised to bring new content free of charge for anyone who bought the game already.

Guys byuy Pro Zombie Soccer.
it's one hell of a ride and it's just sooo damn awesome to play.
The graphics are amazing, the controls superb (with actually a couple of nice clever touches that do take advantage of the iPhone features!), the gameplay is simple and immediate yet pure fun... and there's even a story, really well told and full of brilliant humor.

To me it's probably one of the 3 best games on the system, it's really that good.

Don't miss it! :P

Words with Friends is a great game, just bought it out boredom. It's on sale Thursday for $0.99

Also Farmville by Zynga is up.

I need to know if it's my iPhone or if it's universal:

Drop7 + iOS4 = no more game?

I can launch the app (most of the time), but when it enters the game, it'll last up to two seconds before it crashes. I'm really worried because this game, though epic, is really old and may not even have a team behind it to update it to iOS4.

There's an iOS4 based update on the way, it's just awaiting approval.

Sweet, thanks for the update. I was worried because it's still my #1 played game (currently 180 is #2) and when I looked on iTunes, the last release was made in 2009. =o

Edit: Oh, and until March of this year, you'd be hard-pressed to even find out that they made Drop7 on www.areacodeinc.com.

Damn hope that zombie soccer game is as good as it looks. Will check out the reviews and pick it up if so.

It's great, but requires precision when doing shots. Later zombie designs are crazy hard + level structure change to limit your shooting ability.

Any decent space shooters?
Bonus points if they have commerce trading and pirate hunting shenanigans like Privateer and their ilk.

New iPhone 4 user, here. First smart phone too.

Not exactly what you are looking for, but check out Space Miner. It's an awesome game that may fit your needs.

Just a warning - this appears to be incompatible with ios 4.0, which I found out after buying this ;-(

According to the toucharcade forums the devs know and a patch has been submitted to fix the issue, but right now it crashes out of the game after a couple of shots by my dude.

It's a shame - game looks great, and it's on sale for 99 cents too - here's hoping they get the patch out before the sale ends.

It's killing me I didn't make it into the iPhone 4 launch. Looking like mid-July for me now.

Anyways, just picked up Pro Zombie Soccer. Thanks for the suggestion. Been on a bit of a spending spree with all these sales thanks to the iPhone 4. Hopefully we have similar sales when the new iPad comes out. Hate spending so much more on that device.

Always though you would have had a smart phone. :P Why do I get the feeling you are going to jailbreak...

If iPhone 4s are already jailbreak-able, that'll be my weekend project. :D

I am Spruchy on Words with friends if anyone wants to play.

I'll add you, I'm loving it so far.

Anyone if there is a thread to post usernames for iPhone/Touch games? I could use some friends for We Rule, GodFinger, Plushed, etc...

Espgaluda runs at a perfect 60FPS on my iPhone 4, even in full screen. Gorgeous :D

BTW Geometry Wars Touch also runs at a perfect 60FPS and looks gorgeous on the device!

I've noticed that some apps now have a + icon next to them. What does that mean? (designed for iphone 4/3GS or is it a universal app for iPhone and iPad?)

Playing many games of Carc with a list of 10+ gaffers is awesome. Wish there were more experiences like that. Heard good things about Word with Friends but honestly I just can't play online Scrabble what with very simple cheating completely breaking the game, even if I'm 99.9% sure no one is cheating, it just nags at me.

Just play with people from GAF. Add me if you'd like. "Dacvak"

Btw, is there any way to tell if a game is iPhone 4 enhanced?

The problem I have with WWF is I keep getting game invites from people I don't know. Sometimes multiple from the same person.

I want Words With Friends, not Words With Strangers.

The soccer game is the best one, IMO. :)

Shame I suck at it (best score is 51, LOL).
I was plateauing at 80 for a long time (well, couple of days), but as soon as I got past 90, the game got a lot easier. Ended up fucking up a simple set piece after 145, though. :(

I always felt like Gameloft's cames are ridiculously clunky and unpolished even though the graphics are usually some of the best on the device. But man... They are GOOD at fps's. Brothers in Arms 2 and NOVA are damn slick, I even love playing them in multiplayer. Never would have thought Gameloft would be the one to make fps multiplayer fun, intuitive and smooth on the iPhone.
