I'm trying to buy Bomboozle for my iPod Touch, but it says the "item is being modified. Please try again later."

Any one have any ideas when it might be back up?

Sorry about that, it was being modified by our coder with a few bugfixes.

Thanks for buying our game though! I for one appreciate the support. :D

I just copied the pics from the app store:

Downloaded it, played it a bit. Couple screens I took:

Basically... looks quite fugly. To walk, you slide your finger. To turn, you slide your finger to the side. To aim, you tilt your iPhone - your view tilts and your gun cursor is always in the middle of the screen.

The game goes like this:

You walk through corridors. Shoot enemies. Might be more later, who knows. You walk through corridors, find a key, and open the elevator at the end. You can pick up batteries to help your flashlight battery level.

That's it.

Is it fun at all? Are you regretting the purchase?

I'll pass. Silent Hill makes sense as an adventure game like Hotel Dusk or something but as a shooter it sounds like a lame idea.

I probably wouldn't spend $8 on this unless I was a die-hard Silent Hill fan. Even if I was, I probably would still be incredibly let down..

Low Grav Racer is already out. It just got an update for cockpit view, which is pretty tight.
What's the story on this game? I've been waiting to buy a racing game because games like Crash seemed a bit too kiddy for my tastes. I was looking forward to Low Grav Racer and Need for Speed.

So, does Low Grav Racer take the cake in racing games so far?

Yeah, I got it. The controls were pretty wank. :(

Just bought Arcade Bowling, it's $1.99 for a limited time. It's a pretty fun skeeball game, flick to toss the ball, tilt left/right/up/down to influence it's movement/speed. Has a basic mode where you just fling your balls, or one with ever increasing point totals to hit.

So far, I have these games:

  • Hero of Sparta
  • Rolando
  • Sim City
  • Katamari
  • Touchgrind
  • Scrabble
  • Crash Kart
  • Asphalt 4
  • Spin
  • Real Soccr
  • Brothers in Arms
  • Monkey Ball
  • TS Tennis
  • Snail Mail
  • Labyrinth

What would you recommend I get next?

What the hell happened to JellyCar? I loved that game on XBL earlier in the year, but from the switch to XNA to iPhone the games physics appear to be completely borked, causing the car to cartwheel off the screen at a million miles an hour on a regular basis.

Really disappointing, I hope the game still gets put on Community Games, as I really like the concept. :(

Aura Feint is a pretty fun and addictive puzzle game. I liked how you could rotate the screen around to get blocks in the spots you wanted, adds another layer of dimension to it.

Has anyone tried their hand at actually developing games for the iPhone? I'm giving it serious consideration. Problem is you have to be running OS X to use the iPhone SDK >:|

It's pretty rad. I've developed one game (Ivory Tiles, woo) and I'm working on the sequel and having great fun. The development tools are awesome (had a little trouble with getting PVRTexTool working, I had to use the Windows version and shuttle textures across to my Mac, but it's better now). There's also the Oolong Engine which looks like it's gonna make it a lot easier to get 3d stuff going on (I had to write my own shitty renderer, bleh).

You also have to pay Apple $99 to get the ability to run binaries on your iPhone or iTouch, just a heads up. if you have a Mac though, seriously try it out. Are you a programmer?

I bought your game. Great fun and good use of the iPhone's strengths. As well, great gameplay mechanic for a puzzle game. Sorry for the extra work with the textures but it made for an attractive game board.

Thanks alot!

Just got crayon physics. It's a little bit fucking awesome. Absolutely worth the 5 bucks. Seems just as good as the PC version, just a tad slower.

Sent from my iPhone.

EA released a update for Simcity this morning. All it says is fixed stability.

I will see how it goes, hopefully they fixed the slow downs as your city gets big.

edit: New instructions when you startup the game, explains how to hard restart your phone, hah.

Has anyone purchased I Love Katamari and can comment on the 1.0.1. update? Did it fix all the problems people were reporting in 1.0? Is it worth 7.99?

yeah, I got it after the update and it runs well. a few other people in the thread have also said the same thing, if you look back.

There's 5 levels to unlock and then you can go back to them for specific challenges of just zen rolling with no goal. I've played it a few times since unlocking everything. it's still fun. I'd say 8 bucks is sorta worth it if you like katamari and aren't sick of the game on other platforms.

iphone gaming is so dope. It's really turning into an Xbox Live Arcade sort of situation where it's almost viable now as a true game platform.

Also as I suggested in the XNA community game thread. Hot Shots golf clone from somebody plz!
If Team17 (or whoever owns the rights to Worms now) released a Worms game for the iPhone, I would pay cash. Lots of cash.

I've never played it but always thought it looked cool

hi guys. i recently bought an iphone and i'm wondering which are the good games on it. i don't have that much money to invest in, but i'd like to buy three or four games with a good production value just like monkey ball (yes, i already have this one).

was that kenichi nishi music game already released?

thanks :)

Game & Watch clone. Works pretty well. The Profile has 4 other G&W games for $1.99 each but I only got 16 cents left :lol

That MetaSqaure game looks interesting. Will download it.

BTW: Don't even think I ever posted on this thread...well I got my iPod Touch on December 15th and am loving it so far! As of right now I like the games on the touch more than my DS & PSP.

Also just do go with the new year I'll post my favorite games of 08 (tho I did'nt get many games besides the free ones)

Top 5 games:

5: Tap tap Revenge

4: Topple

3: Tiki Towers

2: Pop

1: Rolando!!!

:D

BTW: If I buy any of the other G&W games will I keep them if they're taken down?

I can answer your question. you will keep any app you download even if it gets taken down from the store. I downloaded Tris before it got removed and the netshare application is still being used by lots of people for laptop tethering after Apple removed it from the store.

but you won't be able to redownload a delisted app if you delete it, since it's not in the store anymore.

I just got Crayon Physics, but for some reason, it keeps telling me I have to erase stuff and cannot draw anymore, but I never drew anything!

I wouldn't say it takes the cake, but it's certainly a lot of fun. It's a little basic on features (as in in-game features.. you can only shoot rockets and get boosts), but the gameplay is very fun.

yeah so crayon physics is broken
it the slowest iphone game i have ever seen

Just want to throw in a vote for Rolando. What a fantastic game. It really is everything I wanted Loco Roco to be. So worth the 9.99.

Is the Touch pretty much self sufficient, like can it be used out of the box without syncing with any computer? Can I just start using the web browser and/or downloading stuff off the app store?

Also: Can I load up the Touch web browser and download an MP3 file (like a podcast) directly from a website and start listening to it?

I'm getting ready to purchase a Touch and I'd really like answers to this. Thanks!

You'd need to jailbreak it and get DTunes for that. I got a 1st generation on purpose... jailbreaking allows so much more functionality.

Ugh that's extremely disappointing. Thanks for the answer though.

....well you can just stream the file and listen to it in safari without jailbreaking.

You can get Podcasts directly in iTunes.

you need to set it up once, i believe. why? Because your itunes account from your computer is linked to the device and the app store and itunes store.

aside from that, you can just listen to streaming mp3s from web pages (but doing it from the itunes app is simpler)

It was doing that to me when I first loaded it up. Quitting to the menu and going back into the level fixed it.
