I'm sorry if it's been asked a gajillion times, but that's the game they show on the iPod Touch commercial? It looks like Guitar Hero?
Tap Tap Revolution.

There's even a Nine Inch Nails version in the works.

Don't know if it's been discussed, but ESPN has a nice little free time waster. ESPN Cameraman is just a simple photohunt type game.

It has like 80 levels or something. Works pretty well and it's free. Nice time waster while in line.

Fire Tail is pretty enjoyable if you like Qix. Next to Galcon it's the most 'can't put down' title I've played so far.

rRootage is out too.. if you're into shooters.

Question: What sites out there for the iPod touch / phone are keeping track of everything coming out for the apps and games coming out for it?

I ask because the XNA Community games looks like it might start straight out like the app store in terms of games suddenly coming out without much warning. I need to see just how I should be handling XNA games for Gamerbytes.com.

So does GAF enjoy synthPOND or BLOOM more?

I was really tripping to BLOOM last night, the generative possibilities are endless and the moods have subtle variations to them but they're definitely noticeable.

I wasn't happy with synthPOND until I really starting diving deep into it, changing structure and testing the space, it's definitely worth a look and I believe it's free so there's no reason not to try it.

Either way, BLOOM is better for relaxation and sleep, synthPOND is better for generative composition (even has a save feature).

Hmm, not too bad actually. It is just Google Earth on your phone really. Not sure I like the use of the accelerometer, and it can't even be turned off. :-/

Wouldn't dream of using this on anything other than WiFi, either.
You can turn off the accelerometer stuff with an option in the settings. Although the idea is somewhat neat, the implementation of it isn't... it's way too finicky.

As cool as I thought it would be to have Google Earth on my phone in reality it's just a blurry mess that doesn't have the data loaded fast enough. It's neat as a tech demo, but that's about it. They should put location/wiki functionality into google maps.

fyi, de blob is down to $4. i decided to splurge on that.

not a bad game, esp. on the touch/phone. makes me want to open the wii version, but taht will need to wait until xmas morning.

hey, I haven't seen anyone talking about TRACE here.

it's really good. it's basically a simplified, puzzle-y version of Kirby canvas curse for the DS :)

you draw a path around obstacles (around 100 levels) and then move your character left or right (or jump) to get to the end of the screen. you need to draw, erase and backtrack certain paths to get to the end.
the art "style" is basically stickman, kid's crayon type stuff, but it's a lot of fun so far. and it's free.

TRACE. download it. I like it.

We're doing a final build tonight on touchDefense. Not sure how long app submission will take, but I'll post media/info as soon as it's in Apple's claws. :)

Thank you. :D

Crystal defenders is just another "tower defence" game but with ff tactics sprites.

I grabbed a touch last week and grabbed vay and super breakout. I can't wholeheartedly recommend either of those games. I also think we are 2 revisions away from the ipod/iphone being a serious gaming contender. I do think it's an awesome gadget though.

Another Trace fan here, spent a fair bit of time on it Sunday, pleased with a few of my World 1 times, none will be world records, but be interesting to see some comparisons.

just saw those soul trapper screens!
I can't believe they renamed their game in episode just like ours... and they release it a few day before too...
hopefully this one looks nothing like 1112! still I have to try it out to see if it's a real competitor...

I'm all about BLOOM. I mean, it was kind of expensive for what it does, but it is fun to just chill out and enjoy. It's basically like one of the modes on Electroplankton.

Soul Trapper worth it?
It's an "audio experience" at 270MB.

I saw a game called Virtual Villagers.
Looks like an Animal Crossing "clone" as time passes while you're away too.
Kinda want it.........

Virtual Villagers is an iphone port of the mobile port of the casual PC title of the same name... i think you can check it out on Big Fish

Yeah, I bought it a couple hours ago. :D

Pretty good, it's pretty much exactly what one would expect.

I was a little disappointed. I thought the note charts weren't synced up with the music as well as they should be. =/

Maybe it's just me.

Are there any games that would be worthy of being sold in a box in the App Store yet? All the games I've tried have pretty much been gimmicky minigames. I guess Trace is alright, though.
