Has anybody ever gotten a touch of motion sickness/nausea from playing Peggle? I've never been affected by FPS or any other kinds of games, but for some reason I remember getting a stomach ache from Peggle. Weird.

I must be crazy, but where's the fun in Peggle? I played it for 5 minutes yesterday, and it's like those pachinko machines basically. You drop the ball and have no more control over it. I must be missing something - that can't be all there's to it, right?

To get the full effect, you need to play it while chain-smoking and sitting in the back of a Japanese laundromat; using your free hand to take upskirt pics of women pulling clothing from the dryer.

IMO, Peggle is a very fun game; but to use a tired cliche, it is what it is. Its a cheap, repetitive game that is easy to learn, but difficult to master. Plus, the constant rewards and potential for random bonuses introduce a gambling element.

I'm rather ho hum about the game. Downloaded the timed demo for mac (which you can repeatedly just delete a preference file to indefinitely extend play time :O), and thought it was compelling, but not an awesome game. A game has to be more than addictive to be great.

Still, it IS good.

I didn't buy it on iPhone based on that, but at 99c, I thought what the hey.

Did California Gold Rush just come out? I remember reading about it in the thread a while back. It says there is a free version but I can't seem to find it.

Soooo I purchased Peggle.

During the install it hung up, and the app icon just says loading. I tried to delete it and it wont let me, nor will it let me re-install from the app store.

Any suggestions?

Sorry for the tech support question, but I'm having a rough time using apple support and I can't find a number to call.

Reboot your iPhone, try again. If that doesn't work, download it from the computer based store and install it from there.

If Peggle has a demo, I guess I'll try it. It's usually not my kind of game. Games I have and like are:

Sims3 (if you're into Sims it fine)
Parachute Panic (love the music and a nice time waster)
SimCity (like Sim3000, but slower)
Spore (uh...don't know much about the PC game, but it's a decent tinker game)
Flight Control (awesome little air traffic control game. very fun)
Taxiball (lots of fun in a mix of Crazy Taxi and Marble Madness)
Toki Tori (looks amazing and is a neat little puzzle platformer)
Crazy Machines (another fun puzzler. haven't spent enough time on it yet)
Sway (meh, kinda goofy. i really didn't try it much)
Lost Empires (my favorite rpg/rts game. very fun, but i spend more time in Flight Control)
Underworlds (played it briefly, but saving this one for long trips)
Galaxy On Fire (i dig it like a portable X-Wing or Tie Fighter. controls a little loopy though)
NY Nights (i love these social management games. i play it more than Sims3)
Mafia Wars (probably gonna delete it now since i'm already far on the Facebook version. i only installed it b/c I was tired of the Facebook version spamming my friends with notifications)
Real Racing (like portable TOCA)
NFS Undercover (better than i expected, but standard NFS fare. controls as nice as real racing)
Let's Golf (better than Tiger Woods imo. i prefer a more arcadey game)

I bolded my top reccos. I thank people in this thread for the suggestions. All these games are pretty cheap to boot. :) PEACE.

Me too, I am not a big fan of Peggle. I don't really see why it's so popular and likable. I really hate the art style too.
There are much more addictive action puzzler out there.

I'm going to recommend PathPix

Fun puzzle game, though a bit mindless (at least at first). Worth the $2 IMO.

It's a puzzle platformer, kinda like a mix between Lost Vikings and Lemmings where you have to use your fire squad to rescue people. Well worth a punt! ;)

Just been playing this for ages, it's great!! I have a little trouble throwing sometimes, buy otherwise this is fantastic! Hats off to you, it's one of the best iPhone games I've tried so far! Everyone get on this ! :)

I pre-ordered the 3GS for delivery and I'm terminating my Sprint contract so on the 19th, a day I happen to have off, it will be iPhone 3GS day in my house. There are some cool time killer type games that I bought but I'm really anxious to start playing the more AAA titles like Terminator, Real Racing, Zenonia.

1 week. I think I'm more excited than anyone!

every other time I enter this thread, I end up buying a new game.

I check gaf a minimum of twice a day.

keep me the hell out of here =(

that said, +1 for Go! Go! Rescue Squad. $1 games are absolutely irresistible. How can I not have $1 worth of fun with a game?

terminator is not an AAA title. seriously, it is complete and utter shit.

:lol Well you know what I mean in either case.

I've heard good stuff about it on other websites, but I got the lite version just to be safe (other games I just jumped right in purchasing like Zenonia or Rolando)

Did you like Brothers in Arms or did you think that was shitty too? Because they seem to use the same engine (or even be the same game) but maybe when they Terminator-ed it the suck came in? Or does Brothers suck too in your opinion?

In other news, Killtest looks pretty fun

Played Star Ride and reviewed it on iTunes.

I like the aesthetic and sound of the game, and I like the idea of and endless vertical platformer, trying to get a high score by seeing how many stars in a row I can 'trampoline jump' off of.

My main critique would be replayability. Due to the mechanics of the game, missing a single jump ending your turn; I think if the core gameplay were combined with a few minor power-ups, it would lead to much longer play sessions. For example, getting a combo streak of 5 stars in a row gives you little wings which cause you to fall 30% slower, or making 4 'long jumps' in a row giving you a boost in how high you then jump. Additionally, if there were 3 different color stars throughout the sky, it could open some puzzle-type challenges of increasing points through combos of stringing together 3 red stars in a row, 3 green in a row, etc.

Overall I like the concept. I think this game is a fun, yet limited experience; but if the core idea of the game were expanded to include some of the ideas I mentioned above, I could see it being very addictive.

Thanks for your feedback. I'm working on some gameplay updates to add some variety to the gameplay, so bonus/malus are definetly on their way... I really like the idea of the combos of stars of the same color, I'll try to implement something like this in the next update.

Try Stackus, it's only 0.99$
It's a physics based puzzle where you move blocks from one side of the screen to the other.

Stackus looks a bit like Perfect Balance Inferno. Btw, your game looks A LOT like Machiavelli's Ascent.

I downloaded the lite version on my brothers iPhone before. I really disagree with you. The graphics were great, the controls were pretty good (I especially like how anywhere on the screen is the right analog stick to aim, hurrayy iPhone) and it was fun for the five minutes I played.

Definitely buying that and Brothers.

I am enjoying Peggle, but sort of baffled as to why they left out the in-game music. I miss it. :|

Popcap wanted to keep the size of the game under 10MB so it could be downloaded anywhere. Including the music would've pushed the size of the app over 10MB for sure.

By Apple's policies, if your app is over 10MB, you can only download it when you are connected via Wi-fi or from iTunes. If your app is under 10MB, it can be downloaded over your phone network as well, making it accessible in many more places.

They've said they're going to add music back in through, haven't they? At least after the game has got a ton of downloads.

Just tried Diorama, and it is blooming hard! I can't pass the first level even.

The 3D effect is great though, really feels like the play area has some depth. 3D glasses also work well, making the effect even better (3D glasses usually just make my head score, so I'm impressed!)

Also, over on TouchArcade I read the maker will now be putting some fulltime effort into expanding the game. Great news :)

Drop7 is my new favorite game. I've been going through the thread looking for older games. So glad I tried it out, the best puzzle game I have played on the iPhone.

Also want to say I am now +14 hours on GeoDefense. Just an all around amazing game and value.

Yeah. Diorama is really hard.
Hard? It is beyond ridiculous :p

I thought I never would make the first level, then I though I never would make the Bridges...now I am in Ramps and sure will never make it.

Anaglyph is perfect, they nailed the colors, good to be able to rely on everybody using the same display.

This is really fantastic, feels like playing an M.C. Escher drawing. Just hope they add some sensitivity options and some more levels in future updates...anyway go and get this.

If you haven't watched the Killtest (formerly Livefire) trailer yet, you need to watch it!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fstVfM49zsU

Deathmatch FPS with PSP(even better?) level graphics over wifi or 3G (wtf how). The controls seem to be the solution for FPS on iPhone with anywhere on both sides acting as the analog stick and auto fire when enemy is in your crosshair. I'm sold already, I really like what ngmoco is doing for the iPhone.

It also has a grapple like in Lost Planet. :D

The last week has been kind of interesting for me. I was really bored one day and decided I needed an RPG oh-so-badly in my life, so I ran out and bought Dragon Quest 5 for the DS. Played it for a night for several hours, had to leave my apartment to go to my parents house, girlfriend begged me to let her play the game (she's a DQ nut, it's the only game she will play besides Jewel Quest and Zelda) while I was away, so I leave my DS with her and head into the wonderful suburb of Highland Park (kill me).

That night, I downloaded both Zenonia and geoDefense. Now, you can't get my Touch out of my hands. Both are absolutely fantastic games, and I haven't even thought of playing DQ5 since buying the two. Zenonia is a really neat little game and is exactly what I've been looking for lately. It's a simple game, but it has a really classic look and feel to it and I love that. The controls take a little getting used to, but you get over that quickly. The game seems extremely easy, so far, but I'm only up to the Cave of Deceit so hopefully it picks up soon. I'm playing as an Assassin right now and it's a ton of fun.

GeoDefense blew me away completely. I've always just kind of enjoyed tower defense games, and only in small bursts, but this game is just FUN. I've only been playing it on Hardcore mode (figured kind of what's the point of lowering the difficulty?), and flew through the easy missions with only failing one mission, but now the medium difficulty is giving me some trouble. Something about this game just really pulls me in, I don't really know what it is... This is far from the first TD game I've played, but it's the only I've ever played that I actually want to beat every single mission with the highest score possible.

<3 App Store.

Just thought I'd mention that Saucelifter is pretty fun.

snap-9.png

Its simple but for some reason I keep coming back to it.
Games I'm playing now are Suacelifter, Geodefense, Go go rescue squad, and Zombie mansion.

Zombie Mansion is a bad game but for some reason I keep going back to it.
