:lol It's a dollar. Who cares? If you play it for an hour and delete it, it's still worth it.

Yea, I suppose, but if I felt that way about every 99c game on the appstore I'd be out a chunk of change before I knew it :lol

Asphalt 4 is a decent enough game that plays a bit like Burnout which is different than most of the other pure racers on the iphone. It's not bad especially for 99 cents although personally I would put that 99 cents towards something better like Real Racing, Need for Speed, Asphalt 5 which comes out any week now or even the Fast & The Furious Game which is on sale for 1.99 and was made by Firemint.

Hopefully not old news, but there's a "The Creeps" update as well...some kind of interesting "Hidden Stuff" (if someone feels like posting the update text), and he flipped on the flashlight limitation (I guess he caught a lotta flack for it).

Don't. It's not a bad game, but it's decent and that's about it. If there weren't so many awesome games at the $.99 point I'd say go for it, but as it is I can't see myself recommending it.

I agree with you, but only half. It's not bad, it's no better than good. The graphics aren't anything special (I love how Gameloft still calls them the best 3D graphics for a racer) but the gameplay is really fun and it's really simple to control.

At 99 cents, it's a very fun extremely arcadey racer. If you want one of these and don't need Real Racing or Need for Speed graphics, I recommend it a thousand times over. But that's just me and I get that there are so many 99 cent games, especially now, to choose from.

Hi guys! I use http://www.applyzer.com/ to track the sales / download performance of iPhone games across all the AppStores around the world.

Do you know if there is a better one? I would be interested to track some games at the same time, to track their results in more than 15 last days, and to search their worldwide performance more than just the Top 50 and also in sub-categories (like Games/Puzzle). And if possible showing charts.

Thanks for posting Applyzer. Looks pretty solid, especially in its 'Beta' form.

Here's one I found when researching this same topic the other day. I've yet to try it, but people who 'know' seem to use/enjoy it.

I don't suppose anybody has tried out Tecmo's Rio Black Jack or DOA Kasumi Black Jack? I'm a sucker for fanservice, but there's only so much you can do with Black Jack. I'm particularly interested if Rio/Kasumi are animated and have voice.

On a different note, any recommendations for:
* Writing documents - ease of editing, different fonts, colors, adding pics, etc. Something beyond rudimentary note taking, but I don't necessarily need the complexity of something like MS Office.
* Rogue Touch any good? Still hoping for a Powder or NetHack port.
* Cluedo - I realize it's a totally different game than the boardgame, but is it good if I'm looking for solving logic problems?
* Poker - Texas Hold 'Em, online, single w AI, aids such as pot odds and recommended plays.
* Solitaire - Something like XBLA's Soltrio Solitaire with lots of Solitaire variants
* Shanghai/Mahjong Solitaire - Good controls/interface
* Sudoku/Picross/Other Nikoli-type puzzlers - It's very important to be able to accurately select a square and fill it in fast (eg I find Go! Sudoku for PSP excellent for rapid entering; much faster than BrainAge/Platinum Sudoku for DS)
* Trivia/Quiz - Trivial Pursuit any good?
* Chess - Important for me is the learning aspect - so it has to have the ability to analyze my play, and not only tell me the best move, but also tell my why it is the best move. Also needs a wide range of difficulty selection. A good database of classic matches is a plus.
* iPhone Stylus - What works?
* Princess Maker - Is there anything out there like it?

I love the game, but suck HORRIBLY at it and have a tough time keeping up.
Ugh, I hate Knights Onrush. It seems kind of a bit random, and it makes my touch screen feel unresponsive. I played it trying to beat the first campaign mode and just got too frustrated. I passed it, but don't see much more enjoyment out of it, so looking for another game.

Maybe Archon, or Real Racing. Is NFS or RR the one to get?

Is the Sonic port any good or is it a crappy port? I want to play sonic. :(
I don't have it but I have watched video reviews and it's the same game with good controls, the issue you always hear repeatedly is that it has slow down. I would imagine that seeing how the 3GS fixed Katamari that it would fix the performance issue here, too. I was going to check it out but I have played that game so much, especially recently on 360.

Ya, I wish they would port more than the first one since I've played it to death but I like sonic so I have to get it. :P I guess I'll give it a try on my touch then, hopefully it's not too bad on that.

Rogue touch does a pretty good job of scratching that rogue-like itch.

There is a Nethack in beta by gandreas which is the dev behind the free Rogue in the appstore. It's pretty much heaven in a handheld. Portrait supports tilesets like Aoiki 2k5 and absurd32. There are 6 or 7 total I think. Landscape presents good old ASCII. I think the beta started in early feb. For the last three months there were no updates and I was beginning to fear the end but a couple of days ago another beta update was sent out that included 3.0 compatibility. It's been my most played app for months.

My favorite Sudoku is Amazing Sudoku. It's flashy which I could honestly care less for. It does look nice, don't get me wrong, it's just that it's Sudoku. What wins me over entirely is the fact that it has two number pads for both entries and notes, other Sudokus with a keypad toggle just leave me annoyed.

Solebon takes the cake for Solitaire as far as I'm concerned. It's fantastic.

The new update is a switch that replaces some of the creeps with characters from Pocket Gods. The devs are apparently friends. What I really want is more levels. I'd be willing to pay an update fee, but I need more!

On the Sudoku/Solitaire front, I use:

Act Sudoku. Amazing Sudoku looks sweet - I bought Act Sudoku nearer to the appstore launch. What acutally sold me with Act is the developer's strong response to feedback. Someone schooled him on proper Sudoku etiquette, and he turned around and implemented everything, including truly unique solutions, symmetric puzzles and so on. It was free at the time, but I like it.

As for Solitaire, Solebon does it for me too. It's great. I sometimes miss a fancier click and drag visual, but the tap is way faster. Has a huge selection, with the only downside being a PC-like version of Spider isn't on there. Spiderette annoys me, as it seems you can move a whole stack of cards, even though they are not the same suit. Also, an autocomplete would be nice (like if you're going to finish a stack to remove - basically, I got addicted to the built in windows card games and I want exact replicas :lol).

Chess: Now I'm no chess master, so difficulty doesn't bother me so much. I went straight for Deep Green, which is probably the most expensive, but it just looks really pleasant, and has good enough options to be ok. I wouldn't recommend it unless you really care about presentation, as I'm sure there are better Chess apps out there with actually really useful additions.

LAstly, some games I'm still looking for that haven't got satisfactory versions include: Hearts (though I haven't looked that hard) and Backgammon.

That all said, I really want an app like Clubhouse games - it basically has my perfect rendition fo those games. I was just thinking, if Nintendo ever went third-party, or just had an iPhone development arm (never going to happen, obviously, as they need to drive their hardware sales, which in turn drive software sales), it would be game over for probably any other mobile gaming device.

Oh man, I remember my first game console -the classic GameBoy. I had this game called TrumpBoy, and it came with 4 card games: a version of "President" (complete with card trading), Memory, Speed, and I forget the other one (maybe it was only 3 games). Oh man, the hours I spent on that....

Also, in protest of 'cheap' games, I bought REal Racing. It better be good!

That's pretty neat. I was playing around trying to find it, but I couldn't.

The Creeps is the best TD, I reckon. Presentation and charm mean a lot to me, and while Creeps may not be as super balanced, it is still great. I especially love the developer support.

I'd definitely pay an update fee for more levels...the game is lots of fun, and more content would just extend the <3

I just bought it on his recommendation and it's pretty addicting. :D
The coolest thing about it is if you look at the little marks along the right side of the screen, those are actually the high scores (highest point reached) uploaded from other global players!

Not really complicated enough. Definitely not as hard as the hardest logic puzzles on the LSAT, anyway! It's fun for a lark though.

Documents to Go offers Word support right now -- can do everything you described; with Excel support as a free update down the line. It's about $5 until the 30th. If you do buy it, let me know how it is via PM please :D

Ya, I noticed that. It's pretty awesome.

It does sometimes feel like your touchscreen input isn't registering. What helped me a lot was to turn the iPhone around and play the game upside down. While it made it much harder to appreciate the art, enemies flew farther from flicking and it was easier to use the weapons.

Leave the credits screen open for at least a min then continue on

Just played two levels of Kroll. Pretty boring. It's a less fun version of Hero of Sparta, and Hero of Sparta isn't super fun to begin with.

I'm saving the rest/all of quite a few games (Carjack Streets, Battlefield, Edge, Zenonia, few more) so that I'm not playing 15 games at once but it's a challenge.

Yeah. It's actually a neat way to have an easter egg
by forcing you to click through a link to the promoted app
. Chalk another one up to Russel, the Creeps developer!

I find my problem with a lot of games is I get to a point where they are too tough, so I stop playing, then feel bad for never finishing them. Stone Loops, Peggle, TaxiBall, etc. I'm finding w/ iPhone games I have a pretty low threshold for challenge / frustration. I thin that's why I like Beweled 2 so much; feels good to only be competing against myself rather than some impossible level ( I'm looking at you, Stone Loops!!!)

Isotope (still quite possibly my favorite iPhone game) got an update.

One of the updates includes the ability to transfer your credits from the Lite version to the full version once.

ALSO: Adds iPod music support. Sweet.

i like knights onrush quite a bit. picked up defenders chroniciles as well but havent put enough time into it to say much about it other than it seems like a competent tower defense game with a slight twist to how the map is displayed.

WordFu - Ngmoco, Inc. - on sale $1

99 cent sale, you son of a bitch... sorry to anyone who bought this at higher prices; congratulations to people like me who can get it on the cheap. :D

Rolando 2 releases July 1st. If you want to play the original game, you better buy it now since Ngmoco is apparently planning to remove it from the app store.

Lame :( I bought it recently and can sort of see the reasoning behind this, but it's still stupid that they're bumping them of for visibility purposes.

Done and done :D Heard so much about this one before picking up my ipod touch.

Anyone else getting the "this game is currently being modified" error when trying to download Wordfu? I guess that means its currently being updated?

Yesss, I almost bought it yesterday too. might as well pick up rolando as well now.

Is there a disclaimer on the Mass Effect app page that says "Don't buy this if you have an OG Touch"? Because honestly, getting continuously murked in boss battles because I can't dodge since the level hasn't fucking loaded yet is getting ridiculously annoying.
