If you take a look at Geocade, someone in Mexico made 183840 points. O_o

Yeah, I should add a screen on the appstore, or directly ingame, the text tutorial maybe it's not clear enough

Glad to hear it :D

Let me be proud of my 2530. :( 183840 is insane though. I think my hand would hurt too bad to make it that far, it's already cramping. I don't know what the tutorial said since I accidently skipped it and couldn't find anyway to see it again... Is there a way to see it again or am I just missing it?

Bliddo the German translation has some errors btw ;)
Sorry about that, my trusty translating guy is not so trusty :D
I corrected some errors in the latest patch, let me know if you find some more.

First of all, simple but fun game I am going to buy it. :D

Ok a better translation for your tutorial screen would be:

Wie man spielt

Bewege den Charakter horizontal mit deinem Finger
Tippe zwei mal um zu springen
Treffe die Sterne um höher zu fliegen
Berühre den Bildschirm mit zwei Fingern um zu pausieren

Credits = Can stay Credits or should be "Mitwirkende"

Buy Star Ride = "Kaufe Star Ride" the "n" doesn't belong there.

If you just want to get rid of the errors in your tutorial translation it should be:

Wie man spielt

Bewege die Spielfigur mit dem Finger
Berühre zwei mal um zu springen
Berühre die Sterne um höher zu springen
Berühre den Bildschirm mit zwei Fingern um zu pausieren

Ok found some more stuff in the full version:

High Scores are for some reason Credits in the German translation. You can go with "Highscores" for the German translation.

When you finish a game:

Back to Earth = Wieder auf der Erde
Your Score = Dein Punktestand or just Punktestand
Save = Speichern
Main Menu = Hauptmenü

The Confirm message:

Der Fortschritt wird gelöscht, möchtest du zum Hauptmenü zurückkehren?

I think now that is all. It's kinda sad that this is the most interesting stuff I did all week. Being sick sucks. :lol

I admit I didn't enjoy Star Ride from playing the Lite version. I really like a game that makes its own music from the gameplay, but it seemed too difficult, and I couldn't see any of the screen since I had to hold my finger over the character. I did have it in my Pandora Box favorites list and bought it when it went to $.99. If I had known about touching below the character I would have bought it at full price! And also that you don't have to land your feet on the star, any part can touch it. Totally changes the game.

Columns Deluxe is terrible! And I used to really like it on the Sega Nomad.

Hmmm not overly impressed with must eat birds. First couple of levels offer some decent fun but quickly gets hard and isn't really interesting enough too keep trying.

How many hits do those damn red birds take?

Thanks a lot for the help :)

Hey no problem. If you do another game and need some help with the German translation I'd totally help you out. Then I could say I worked on a game...kinda....:lol

I tried Columns. Terrible game. Even if its free. Shame too ilove puyo pop.

Tatomic on the other hand. Is pretty awesome. Especially free.

Columns, wow.... not good.

Man im' bad with the Accelerometer in Rolando 2. Game is tough for me, but im' starting to get the hang of it. Challenge system works really well over plus+. I've sent & received a few, and it all works very seemlessly.

Hey, all.

Right now, Taxiball has 39 followers on Twitter.

EDIT: The rules I posted before didn't make any sense! *facepalm*

Alright, so let's try this again.

If Taxiball gains X followers, I'll give away Y promo codes:

50 followers, 1 code
100 followers, 3 codes
200 followers, 5 codes
300 followers, 10 codes

If you want to be eligible for a code, tweet something with @taxiball and #gaf. I'll randomly select users (as soon as the threshold has been crossed) from the eligible tweets.

...and while you're at it, add @selfawaregames, too!

Good luck, and happy 4th of July!

+1 sale.

I'd been interested in this for a while - even played the demo, and thought it was really interesting. Weirdly, the only thing that's been keeping me from getting it is the squiggly lines and flesh-colored nature of some of the blobs. I just found it somehow so visually unappealing I couldn't pull the trigger. Still, at a buck, I'm more interested than weirdly repulsed. Thanks, Costanza!

helava, can I make a suggestion regarding Taxiball?

I LOVE the game, but I've switched to a 3GS and restored a few times since then and it sucks to have my username/achievements/friends list/scores reset every time.

It'd be great if we could recover our usernames. Maybe just add the option to choose a password at registration?

Yeah the challenge system works real smooth. I do wish it catalogued all the challenges you have received, or at least the most recent, like how StarDefense does. Sometimes you want to take the challenge up, but not at that precise moment.

The only good thing that has come from having this evil and vindictive flu is it has allowed me to play games... guilt free! It's not like my brain can even attempt to do anything productive anyway. So I've played quite a bit of Rolando 2... and it is better in every way to the original.
The level design is great, but what really distinguishes it from the original is the new Rolando types they have added. The difference of speed, buoyancy, and size, amongst this new class of Rolando really adds depth to the game. Where as in the last game, except for the spiky rolando, they were all quite interchangeable and had no real impact on the game design. I always felt that was a missed opportunity, and I'm happy to see it rectified with such great style.

no offense but the star ride pimping is getting to the level of spam.

It wouldn't be so annoying if the game weren't a direct rip off of Machiavelli's Ascent.

I had the same thoughts. I wasn't ever going to get columns, even free, but when I saw Puyopop was on there I bit. Puyopop is the only puzzle game that came even close to having that autopilot feel for me (like tetris).

It' playable, but not actually all that fun, so deleted it nearly straight after.

Meh. I don't care myself. And there are plenty of clones of games that exist and often people begging for certain clones to come to the iphone. Just saying.

Yeah but I feel like every time I open this thread we're talking about Star Ride like it's some great game that everyones talking about but that's not what's happening here :(

Aera - Upcoming iPhone game

This game looks amazing.

• Different mission types (Aerobatic, Dog-fight, Race) plus bonus - Free Flight
• MultiPlayer Game (Duel and Capture the Flag)
• Advanced and carefully tuned physics simulation
• Different Locations and Planes to fly
• All the environments are carefully modeled in 3D
The gameplay mechanics are a mix of side-scroller and flight simulator. You play in a real 3D environment and control the throttle and pitch of your plane, plus a couple more "Special" moves. It might sound too simple, but it's not - advanced physics simulation allow you to perform very complex tricks and movements. With practice you will be able to master more and more fun maneuvers. This will allow you to use different tactics to complete each game mission. Also, with advancing through the game you will get faster and more powerful airplanes, better weapons, and you will face more challenging AI opponents.
Essentially, the game can be defined as casual 2.5D flight simulator. Since the physics model is "real" but simplified, it allows you to start off easily, but as you advance and master the controls, you'll discover more possibilities and ways of flying. Eventually, you might find it fun and enjoyable just to fly the planes around the scenery, hence the Free Flight Mode.

It's not getting pimped as much as you're whining about. Get a life.

I know this may be old news to a lot of people but a lot of us in here are new to iPhone gaming.

I wanted Rez-like gameplay on iPhone so I entered it in Yahoo and bam.

It's not half the super duper infinitely amazing game Rez is, but it is a damn awesome game. You freely control your ship with your left thumb and highlight enemies with your right. You can highlight 4 at a time and enemies leave behind red spheres that you collect. The music is pretty good, it's a cool techno-y soundtrack and the gameplay is just great. It's 99 cents right now.

If you liked Rez, you'll like this, just set your expectations accordingly. It allows for some Rez gameplay on your iPhone, which makes me a happy camper. Definitely worth a buck.

Also, Eliss for president.

whoa looks like I have awaken the Star Ride defense force. Maybe you guys should make a star ride official thread.

ok if a game sucks I normally keep my mouth shut but when you keep throwing it in my face I have no choice but to whine about it. sorry.

but if Mr Star Ride is looking for honest criticism that's a different story. I would say add more variety to the gameplay...and give credit to the original developer for the gameplay concept.

while we're on the subject of Star riding and copycat games
this game Ricky looks ok. The grapihcs are amateurish but it looks like someone put a lot of effort into making a good Super Mario Brothers clone.

re: Costanza's suggestion - I hear you, re: not being able to transfer your scores. We're actually trying to figure out whether there's a good way to do that, because right now, your user handle's tied to your phone's device ID. We've been trying to figure out a good way to do the transfer, and unfortunately, stupid as it sounds, the need to transfer to an upgraded device simply wasn't something we'd considered at the time. :|

So, yeah. Trying to figure out a good way to do it, and will hopefully have figured something out by the 1.2 update.

Thanks for the feedback!

I keep wondering whether I'm missing something in Radio Flare... Every time I play it, I end up quitting out of sheer boredom after a few minutes. Is there something I'm missing? It ends up basically just being swipe, shoot, swipe, shoot, etc. The integration with the music is about as bare-bones as I can imagine, and for a game that pimps itself as a "game about music," I'm just not seeing the appeal. Again - am I missing something? Because it seems like a lot of people love the game, and I seem to be the odd one out...

Winter Bells came out way before whatever this Ascent game is.

Though I'm not sure if Winter Bells was the first. There could've been something before it, I suppose.

Either way, while I don't personally like Star Ride (something about it feels... off, after I played Winter Bells so much way back when), he hasn't really been pimping it near enough to warrant your complaints. When there's a sale, when there's an update... that's fair pimping. Everything else is responding to things other people say.

Chill.

A bit of me loves it for the Rez-ness it has, but even judged on it's own I find Radio Flare to be one of my favorite iPhone games. You can only shoot 4 enemies at a time, so when there is a wall of enemies coming at you, you have to swipe and shoot carefully. A lot of enemies have remains that hurt you even when killed, like their shields shooting in four directions or a final rocket that shoots straight at you, so you need to steer intelligently. Then there's the red flares that you need to collect to progress, so you end up having to steer clear of fire, choose the 4 enemies that need to be exterminated first, dodge the continuing fire from enemies you haven't shot yet, go grab the red flares...all to a pretty cool soundtrack.

You should give it more than the first level, as obviously it starts off easy to ease you in and easy isn't too thrilling. But hey, if you don't find it fun then you don't find it fun.

Radio Flare is fun and all, but come on - just give us a real Rez port complete with full MP3 soundtrack and vibration. Surely the iPhone can handle a bit of wireframe 3D!

Hey Winter Bells is pretty awesome thanks for that :)

sorry if I'm too blunt but if I were promoting my games on here and somebody told me to shut the hell up I honestly wouldnt have a problem with that.
and that's probably going to happen since I'm pretty excited about this next game I'm working on :D

Yeah, you are just getting (un)lucky, if you came back to the thread everyday you'd see the posts about it are actually quite rare.

Wow, thread should be renamed to Star Ride Official Discussion Thread (Among Other Games). That said, using your finger underneath really does make a world of a difference. Drop7 time!

thanks for the Drawrace suggestions, great game for 59p (or 99cents). really hard and challenging at times too.

'perfect balance' series are both available for 59p as well and they must be the best games of this type I've played. I didn't like the way topple controlled but this is better and you get 80 puzzles to solve. lite versions of both games available, very happy with them.

Your complaint was totally unwarranted. It was merely discussion and feedback of the german translation. If that's what constitutes spam in your mind, then gaf is not the place for you. Seriously.

I posted one-liners when I updated and dropped the price, I hardly consider this spamming or pimping.
No need to comment the rest...

actually the rest is the most important part like how you can make a shameless copy of someone else's game and not even bat an eye. but whatever...

Asking tough questions? No you are being a stupid dick for coming in here and acussing others of not creating "amazing" games up to your satisfaction then claiming they are ripping off other previous iterations of similar games.

Uh why don't you go fucking find those developers of every tower defense or castle defense clone and go bitch them out.

And don't give us that bullshit "Maybe GAF isn't for me" pity shit.

Ill answer that question for you. It isn't, maybe that will make you leave sooner.

one last thing... criticizing a man's game is not the same as criticizing the man. You'll notice never once did I resort to personal attacks like the two posters above.

If you cant take REAL criticism then maybe this is not the place for YOU. amirite?
