What are the best space themed games? I'm really in the mood for something GOOD sci-fi or space related. Mass Effects fucking terrible framerate left a bad taste in my mouth.

I'm enjoying Galcon and Quantum collapse. Galcon has a flash version you can check online I believe, it is a stratagy game that is difficult to describe. Quantum Collapse is an RTS a d is alot of fun. It is supposedly getting an online multiplayer mode next update.

Yeah. At least by turning it off and on again. Is there another way to reboot it besides that? Like in the settings or something?
Backup and do a restore in iTunes. Guarantee that fixes it.

How exactly did you turn it off and on again? By rebooting, people mean hold the reset button (top corner) until the device gives you the option to turn it off with a slider, then after turning it off holding the button to turn it back on. Some people don't realize you can do that.

I haven't seen anyone mention the App shopper website- it will let you setup a wishlist and give you an RSS feed to track the list. It works so much better for me than Pandora box did.

And if RSS isn't your thing, there's an email option too. Registration was pretty easy.

Yeah AppShopper is an awesome site. I think it is the best app tracking site out there. Very easy to navigate and contains lots of information.

The platform is perfect for a game like that.
Yeah Civilization Revolutions that they made for the DS would work perfectly.

No it wouldn't. Don't say such things.

I get sucked in enough on the PC and occasionally on the DS, I don't need that temptation on something I have on my person at all times :(

The problem is 2k won't be willing to sell their game for 19.99 (the max price you can sell games right now).

I'd be happy to see that price cap rise if I could get ports from the DS over to the iPhone.

I bought the 2kgames steam deal that included civ 4, and I also thought about how awesome civ would be on ipod touch. Hopefully something between revolutions and 4.

I recently bought Civ 4 for my PC. That game is amazing.

After playing Pinball Fantasies for about an hour, going through all the tables, I can say it's pretty much a perfect port. Better than original in fact, because it has no load times, and has improved graphics as an option - even with redrawn intro image! Cowboy Rodeo deserves every cent they earn from this game, and the game itself is worth every cent they are asking for it.

On 3GS, framerate is perfect 60FPS, without a single frame drop ever. On Ipod Touch 1st gen, the same can be said while you play the game in landscape, but the framerate is slightly sub-60FPS when in portrait mode. Its still consistent though, and I haven't seen any ball gliches/jumps/teleportings like it could happen in Dreams on my 1st gen Touch. All in all, performance is improved, even though the tables are more complex here.

One small bug on 3GS has been got carried over from Dreams - while you are in the game, if you go in and out of the options screen, the game goes into a temporary (but annoying) slow motion mode, ad the only way for it clear up is to lose the ball, or quit and restart the game. My suggestion is to use option screen from the main Settings panel on Iphone, before starting the game.

I was worried about the ball speed after reading some info about what they did with it, but the speed feels just right - it appears faster than Dreams with classic difficulty enabled, but slower than Dreams with classic disabled. Authors said the speed is 100% identical to Amiga NTSC version of the game, which was 10% slower than PAL version, but even though I played PAL version back then, this feels pretty much the same.

Now, the wait for Illusions begins! :P

Hold on to your hair, the game is awesome :D Take note that the music is now SHIT compared to pre-update music, they must have lost the rights to the tunes they were using and quickly threw together a few monkies in a barn with a keyboard to make replacements.

Wait, they replaced the Zenonia music with shittier Zenonia music? I could barely play the game due to the music in the area outside the first town being about three seconds long and looped. Most annoying music in recent memory.

And now it's worse? I have to update immediately to hear this.

In Isotope, does anybody know how to change it so the virtual joysticks are positioned whereever my thumbs are as opposed to being stick in the corners?

I swear when I started playing they were like that but now they are locked and I see no way to change them!

I Dig It is awesome but I feel I should be planning things rather than just randomly drilling down.

Also a big fuck you to the game for not showing the price of the extra gas tank OR explaining it was only for one use :(

I reckon it's my most played game and I'm still drilling pretty randomly, although I've been working on making a nice clean exit pipe from 300 feet up by using the dynamite to clear the rocks.

I haven't put it in an area that wasn't already partially dug but I think it's 2x2 blocks. Worth the effort to clear a pipe, I don't keep crashing into them when I jet out of a big dig now and free-floating all the way to 300m saves fuel too.

I'm doing the main scenario where I have to earn the guy $400,000 or so, is that in game points or game dollars?

Recently upgraded to a 3GS handset. The speed improvements to Resident Evil Degeneration are astounding, it's like a completely different game. The graphics seem a lot sharper as well.

As a result I'm now eagerly awaiting RE4 Mobile.

I agree. Such an amazing game, although it has pointed out the biggest flaw of the 3GS. The oleophobic screen can be troublesome at times.

Sorry all heres another try on the Zombies vs Sheep Screenshots i took. I was a little tired last night....

Looks good. I like the visual style. Sheep is pretty cute.

So in Baseball Sluggers I decided to forego buying the spiked bat and save up to the next level bat. The damn thing requires so much gold I have no idea how long I will have to play to get it. :lol

For D-pad, any iDevice screen is troublesome at times, when you get into it and start pressing onto the screen too much, I noticed. I have 1st gen Touch and 3GS side by side, and have played a lot of stuff on both, and I had pretty much the same experience with them.

Is it only me or do others feel like onscreen pads/buttons are the way of the past and should not be supported (by your wallet)?

I still haven't gotten my iPhone yet, but the idea of playing with an onscreen pad does not appeal to me at all. It seems so unintuitive and there's no tactile feedback.

What are your favorite games that don't use a fake d-pad?

Situation with the game EDGE is that it was removed again from the US store and some other stores (I still see it in the Canadian store, but I guess it's just a matter of when it disappears at this point)

Author is trying to increase the awareness of the game by asking people to download the free demo version, and leave a review for it explaining why you can't download the real thing:

http://forums.toucharcade.com/showthread.php?t=19234

I did it, and will leave a review for both full and lite version.

I agree pretty much 100%. None of my favorite games uses virtual dpad, and I also agree that Doom Resurrection was executed just the way it should have been. It actually felt good playing it, and the game was much more fun than any 3D shooter with virtual dpad I tried.

Of course, I'll be willing to make an exception if/when C64 emulator comes out :P

Quoting for emphasis. I've downloaded the lite version, and will play it once I get my phone, then I'll be leaving feedback on it too. :D

Can't he call it "Ledge"? The premise would work, since the cube does grab "ledges". :\

Everyone would know, and people are more than willing to support a good game.

Hell no. They work fine, when done right. Assassin's Creed did it very right, as does Drop Ship, Terminator and, sorry, Castle of Magic.

On screen buttons help to bring the hardcore games.

Well, I got Edge: Lite also. I noticed on the search though that there is an "Edge gay news reader".

I wonder if that twat Langdell will be going after that also?

I drill straight down (a tube) usually from the sides, as far down as I can until I lose visibility (re my current radar) or the engine gets uncomfortably warm. I usually make "dents" every 2 square (vertical) to be able to explore horizontally.

What sort of radius does the dynamite have? just one square at a time?
3x3

Yep, just remember to use the mark to flag out the "bottom", 'cause when you reach 500m down it gets a bit tough to remember where you stopped digging :D

Campaign is 4 hours for $100,000 in bank (so your purchases set you back), and there's a scenario that wants 100000 points in 15mn.

It's not like you need 4 hours to be done. My first campaign run it "only" took me 2 hours 25 (the scenario on the other hand, I completely flubbed)

All right, I tried that, my apps still don't work. The only difference is that they're all alphabetized now. Maybe if I upgrade to 3.0 it will work?

No I ment real racing, maybe I should go edit my original post to make it more clear, sorry.

Probably, but iPhone for me is a non-hardcore platform only. If I want to play hardcore games with need for buttons I rather play the PSP. May be a matter of hand size, but longer sessions of holding the iPhone using onscreen dpad/buttons make my hands cramp.

Any recommendations for SRPGs like Fire Emblem/Final Fantasy Tactics on this platform?

The nice thing is the market will sort this all out by itself. If people buy hardcore games you will see more of them. If people don't you will see less of them. That's democracy in action. (With a slightly broken App store economy in place of course) And of course we all have the option of buying or not buying said games to suit our individual tastes.
