In Isotope, does anybody know how to change it so the virtual joysticks are positioned whereever my thumbs are as opposed to being stick in the corners?

I swear when I started playing they were like that but now they are locked and I see no way to change them!
Sorry for the super late response.

Fixed keeps them in one spot, Centering put them wherever you first put your thumbs, and Following follows.

All right, I tried that, my apps still don't work. The only difference is that they're all alphabetized now. Maybe if I upgrade to 3.0 it will work?

Yeah, that's what I did.

I thought I had a similar situation to you so was going to respond, but my issue is very different.

Occasionally (less frequent these days), when I reboot (NOTE: rebooting by holding the sleep/wake button until a RED slider comes up to turn it off), I get the Apple Logo of Death. When this happens, I can try a few more times to force reboot (holding both home and sleep/wake until it restarts), and I might get back in. When I do all third-party apps (or apps that were not pre installed) would shut down immediately.

The only thing that would fix it would be a resync.

I would've thought a restore would've fixed your issue. I only started having this problem after 3.0, so that's why I don't think it's the same as your issue.

Namco Creates 'Apple Games' Division, Announces Pac-Man Remix

http://toucharcade.com/2009/07/20/namco-creates-apple-games-division-announces-pac-man-remix/

Namco Networks has just announced that it has submitted Pac-Man Remix, a modern take on its 1980 arcade classic, to the App Store.

Based on the world-famous arcade hit, PAC-MAN REMIX showcases enhanced graphics and lots of new exclusive features like boss battles, stage-specific gadgets, and power-up items! Guide PAC-MAN through the maze and avoid the brightly colored ghosts while chomping up all the dots. Eat a power pellet to temporarily turn the tables on the ghosts. Gobble up as many ghosts as possible while they are blue. Chomp the ghosts consecutively during one power pellet to score major bonus points!

The game holds onto the core Pac-Man game mechanic, but expands greatly upon it, both as far as visual presentation and gameplay are concerned. Pac-Man Remix is played across six different stages (with five levels each) and features various power-ups that can be acquired to help beat those familiar ghosts and their six new boss ghost friends. These include:

Jump — jump over ghosts or walls
Dash — move faster
Lucky Item — all the pellets turn into Power Pellets
Ninja Item — Trick the ghosts with an illusion of Pac-Man
The game appears to be an extended adaptation of the studio's well-reviewed 1996 release, Pac-Man Arrangement, which is an excellent remake I've spent considerable time with on the Gameboy Advance. If Remix is anywhere near as good as Arrangement — which it should certainly be — then iPhone gamers are in for quite a treat.

Pac-Man Remix has been submitted to the App Store and should appear later this week at a price of $5.99.

Namco also took this opportunity to announce the launch of a new division within the company, dedicated exclusively to the iPhone and iPod touch. The new 'Apple Games' division is headed up by former I-Play Mobile Gaming producer and designer Jonathan Kromrey. And while the announcement of Pac-Man Remix brings a smile to my face, the creation of the new division within Namco focused entirely on iPhone gaming, and the studio's commitment to the platform that such a move reveals, is a much more significant turn of events.

We can't wait to see what the studio has in store.

That's just depressing. I'm glad I managed to pick up the lite version but I should of seriously bought the full version but I didn't.

On-screen arrows for PacMan? Really?

Why not use tilt, or at least on screen gestures?
It also looks like the game is just a port of pac man arrangement from an ancient PSP collection. Good job Namco...

*edit* To be fair regular Pac-Man that's in App store now does have relative finger swipe control so this will probably too. Also, Pole Position is actually a nice remake, that has tilt steering too.

Every major publisher will have an "Apple Games" studio by the end of the year. Good to see Namco on the ball.
.

If used correctly it can be a perfect marketing tool. Though I'm probably wrong, I imagine Bioshock 2 will be the first game to really make it work. The mess that was the Mass Effect game didn't do anyone any real favors.

If Bounce On can make tilting work really well for a platformer, why can't the big companies out there try it too :lol

Pac man seems to be one of those games where tilting would add to the experiance, touching arrows does not.

Why doesn't Mobigame just release Edge under a different name?

Without knowing the specifics of the case its probably impossible to comment either way intelligently. They did offer to change it to edgy at one point and all that did was prompt the dude to register edgy. I'm sure he also wants a cut of money and he is claiming the game is a copy of something he did anyway so these things get complicated very fast once money is involved.

I'd rather have on screen buttons than tilting for most games.

Tilting the view away seems a particularly stupid idea in some full 3d games I've seen. Motion control works for the Wii and PS3, but not with a handheld where it affects your view. Rotating like a steering wheel is fine, but I hate games which require me to twist/tilt the screen away so that I'm not looking straight at the viewing plane.

For a game like Pac-Man I don't see the problem of using on screen buttons, although they do seem unusually positioned and overly large.

And of course this is just a port of the Pac-Man arrangement that has featured on other platforms before (GBA, DS, PSP, XBLA, etc). This is Namco we're talking about. And it's not hard to guess what other titles they'll be releasing in the future.

Passing on this iteration of Pac-Man, but I might bite if they release a port of the XBLA's Pac-Man CE game.

Something like FlightControl's control style I think would work really well for Pac Man.

It just seems like Japanese companies, in general, are not really willing to try something different when it comes to the iphone.

hey mrWalrus!
I got iSR a few weeks ago and think that it was kind of what I was asking about when I came in here and asked if anyone had expanded on the cube runner idea any.
I think it's pretty cool and I've probably busted it out a bunch of times just to show off the kind of graphics the iPhone can pull off.
Have you got any information on future updates for it?
Besides sound, it would definitely benefit from some UI tweaks. Right now I almost don't even care to try to hit any of the buttons while I'm racing.

Have you played Real Racing? It has a great solution to this problem.
Why explain... When you can watch! Start watching from the 1 minute mark.

When it's done correctly, it works really well. I thought Doom Resurrection had better aiming than other games I've played that tried something different, like Resident Evil Degeneration.

The developer actually elaborated on this in another forum, saying that the 'damage' is already done and Langdel is asking them for a cut on sales made already and there are other complications of that kind.

Hmm.. Edge Lite & Edge are still available for purchase in the Swedish app store..

fake edit: and the Irish... and the French.

Seems it's not entirely gone yet.

Langdell is simply a thieving bully, and his henchman lawyer Buscaglia probably gets a nice cut as well.

I especially liked how Buscaglia demanded critics on the IGDA forums to state their age as well as list the titles they've worked on. As if you needed experience to have valid criticism.

LOL! You're going to make me blush. :lol

Yeah.. we've got an update in queue. Was really hoping it was going to drop today (40th anniversary of the Moon landing an all..) In the meantime here's a video and some random pics. Version 1.002 gets iSR a little closer to respectibility. A whole new Menu System has replaced the old one, Several new vehicles have entered the fold, so has Sound (FX and Music), the Frame Rate has also gotten better and should continue to do so. We're anticipating an update engine side in the coming weeks which is when we'll probably submit version 1.003.

Can't tell you how much I / We appreciate comments like that. Even tho it's rather fun, we're well aware that iSR is still kind of just a tech demo.. and since Gabe Newell came out and said it I'm not at all ashamed to say now we're kinda letting the public decide how far we go with this concept.

Right now we're of the mind set that, especially for the time we've put into it, we're not ripping anyone off at 99 cents. We're well aware the title is far from 'complete' tho. Things like an expansive online system with more bells and whistles than a kazoo shop
are very much planned for and
nice but they require extensive resources. Race to the Moon LLC is still only three people and working out of a virtual office only compounds the effort it takes to get things together.

We've got a long way to go with the property that's for sure. The three of us really want this to be a AAA product. So with that expect to see a continued push to make iSR a firm example of what Apple's platform can do. If we happen to deviate, just know that it's in attempts to further fund our efforts.

In case anyone is getting into the conversation late. I'm the designer on iSR (linktoapp.com/iSR).
Feel free to comment/question/criticize. :D

you know what game would be awesome on the iphone? REZ!

yep, but for now we have Radio Flare which is a damn good game in it's own right.

Any how, Alien Invader, a 3d Space Invaders adaption with tilt and touch controls as well as customizable abilities (aliens drop coins, coins can be used to level up sheild, speed, armor, gun, etc) is free today. It's a great game worth checking out if you're into Space Invaders or shooters.

I played it last night and didn't really like it. Too repetitive and not too great control.

It's funny that downloadable games has the ability to become 'rare' too.

Paid full price for both Pinball Dreams and Fantasis. Go me!
What was the third one in the series? Anyone know if they have plans to bring that to iPhone too?

a) You won't regret it, they are worth every cent. b) Pinball Illusions. c) Yes! if Fantasies sells enough to make it worth it for them to continue working (Dreams sold more than enough, so they ported Fantasies as well).

So have any baseball fans tried out Power Pros Touch yet? I have heard good things about the console versions and am wondering if this version is similar.

Really? I feel like the accelerometer control + touch to shoot is perfect. I can see how you'd think it's repetitive and I surely wouldn't argue gameplay is varied other than a new kind of enemy ship here and there, but I still find it all fun.

Different strokes.

Good puzzle game. Couple of things:

* Very professionally done. Game exudes thoughtfulness in presentation and interaction.
* Sound is very good. Zen Bound quality at least.
* Some sluggishness on my 3G. Doesn't ruin the experience, but needs some optimization. According to TouchArcade forums the developer is investigating.
* Auto-save works brilliantly.
* No timer; take as long as you want to solve any puzzle.
* Difficulty path is true. Easy is easy, difficult is difficult. Gameplay requires experimentation with the fit of the pieces.

Cheap price for a really good puzzle game. Bonus is that it is original, and not a copy of an existing game (a la Flight Control and its many good/bad derivatives). Definitely recommended if you like puzzle games. Dev seems like good people; always a bonus.

Just bought it tonight, played a game. It is the most realistic baseball game I have played on iPhone. That's not saying much, but it's fun. You can switch your line-ups, set your defense, decent pitch selections, lots of options. I set fielding to semi auto, and I didn't have to do anything, which I didn't like. I'd definitely say it's worth it.

You'd be surprised. I Dig It is really good at saving your progress and resuming, so it's not like you need to sit there for 2-4 hours to complete the campaign.

The game's awesome, love it!

I don't dig it. But I bought it on sale, so that's OK :D

Maybe I'll try to get into it again in a few days.
