first time posting due to roughly about 2 years of waiting :lol

awesome thread, and thought I'd add a note of a quality free (temporarily?) game app:

swapBOX

/snip

very simple but has better design and gameplay overall than most free things I've come across.

snagged!

yeah, and i thought my 9 month wait was bad. :lol

Picked up puzzlings... never thought a match 3 game could be so addictive since Bejeweled. It's like bejeweled meets LittleBigPlanet. I must have logged at least 5 or 6 hours into it now, not to mention hooking the wife on it as well. :D

I use my 2G iPod Touch for gaming (not as much as my DS and xbox tho :D ), my favorite games are Real Racing, Up There, Zombieville USA, StoneLoops! and Peggle.

Hells ya!

I've been waiting for about two years too! Thanks for the recommendation!

If you like StoneLoops and Peggle, I'd highly recommend Azkend. Those three are a trio of awesome.

Finally got a 3GS and I've been going app/game crazy (MGS Touch =/) But I do have a question, besides World of Tunes, are there any decent music games floating around? Are there any that use the music you have on your ipod, frequency style?

Is the original Rolando worth purchasing if I've just bought the sequel?

don't buy it. head to a local best buy and see if they have free rolando codes still. if I get a chance this week I might be able to pick some up.

Heads up, I just got Railroad Madness and iCollider from the App store for free for one day only. I haven't tried them but I'm sure I've seen both titles pimped in this thread.

Mass Effect Galaxy is pretty good [mainly because it's only 2.40 € or something like that; not worth anything more than that]

Nice, thanks. Had been eyeing Railroad Madness, but my backlog is big enough as is. Oh well, another log on the fire.

Beatrider uses your own music

other music games to look up (they're all pretty good):

dance dance revolution
tap tap revenge 2 (can't use your own music but hey have different music versions so next best thing)
tap star
meevo and the grove riders

Hi all, just wanted to drop a line to let you know about Zep's Dreamland on the iPhone. It's been out a little bit, but I've taken my sweet time to start promoting it. I am the sole developer of this game.

You can find all the nitty gritty details you need to know here: zepsdreamland.com (including screenshots and the free PC/Mac version). To sum up what the game is all about, though, I offer you the following quick rundown: Zep's Dreamland is a brain teaser block building puzzler with a SNES style to it. There are 101 levels to conquer, 50 of which are exclusive to the iPhone version.

Check it out on the app store: Zep's Dreamland on the App store

To help get a few people talking I've got 5 codes up for grabs. Send me a PM to get one. First come, first served.

[edit] Codes have been depleted. Thanks guys!

I grabbed iCollider and Railroad Madness, and ... yeah.

With Railroad Madness, I think the thing that annoys me the most is that you can only rotate the arrows clockwise. So if you have to move a train left, it's a one-click process, while moving a train right, similarly, is a 5-click process. It seems like being able to click on an arrow then drag in the direction you want it to face would allow for exactly the same strategic play, but without having the controls make the whole game asymmetric.

iCollider... I don't even know what the point is. Your "death meter" goes up if you have more than 10 atoms on screen. But if I destroy them quickly, I'm fine. There are rarely ever situations where I'm inadvertently stuck with 10 atoms on screen unless I'm bored and trying to skirt death, for no reason other than the game's pointless otherwise. There's no *game* there - no pressure, no real strategy to speak of.

Am I missing something?

I bought Real Racing after watching Co-Op last week, and I am glad that I did. Its really good, and I hope it will be worth the money.
Which control setup do you guys use? I use the second one.

Holy Shit !!

Now i have to decide between Steam version and IPhone version !
Anybody tested the IPhone version ? How is it running ?

It looks like a bunch of people were finally approved today! It seems like I've been waiting forever.

Anyways, I really enjoyed Treasuers of Montezuma. I haven't heard much hype but it has really positive reviews and I enjoyed the hell out of it. It's just like Bejeweled, but with RPG style upgrades that provide different kinds of bonuses and give you different powers to destroy blocks, etc. I'd recommend it to anyone.

And thanks for the Drop7 and Edge recommendations. Great stuff!

Well Monkey Island: SE is officially awesome. It loads up fast (mind you I'm playing on a 3GS), looks great, and instantly saves your progress when you hit the home button.

You swipe two fingers through the screen to switch between the SE and classic versions, it really is seamless.

I've never played a Monkey Island title, is this as good a start as any?

Yes as it includes essentially the original verison within this one with an updated version. Of course you have to like adventure games.

Hmmm.

Is it super tough? I'm definitely an adventure game newb, tried out that Return to Mysterious Island on the iphone and was disappointed.

From what I've read, if you really want to get into the series go for the 360A version.

If you never played any of the classic LucasArts adventure games then I'm not sure whether you will like it or not. Return to Mysterious Island is more in the Myst style of adventure games which is different.

Classic Lucas Arts adventure games were more about humour like a Looney Tunes cartoon. The puzzle solving isn't necessarily hard although the logic in them can be a bit weird until you get use to the style.

Good point, it's cheap anyway so why not. I'm also interested in that Mass Effect app but am weary atm. Anyone try it out?

I wish they had given a more concrete time frame on the release date. I knew it was coming on the iphone but I thought it was a few months away so I bought it on the 360. I'd love to support this one and buy it for the iphone so we get more of their catalog on the iphone but it's hard to justify buying adventure games on multiple platforms. They are sort of a one time playthrough thing.

sigh..

More like Maniac Mansion?

I'm currently absorbed in a game of Mahjong atm, but once I'm done I'll give Monkey Island a shot!
