Picked up Bookworm, great game. I grew tired of Word Fu's hectic pace, but this is exactly what I was looking for. Excellent game.

Also bought Blimp, I really like this game. Fun platforming, very nice visuals and sound design. For only $2, this is a really satisfying platforming / 2d flying game.

Some recent good games outside of the big titles.

Its maybe my favorite iphone game period. Its really good.
After playing it I wouldn't say that's much of an exaggeration, this game really that good!
Except for maybe your own music stages, those don't seem to work quite as I imagined. Do the enemies spawn in time to the beat or something?

The level is generated based on the data in the music file. It's not based on the music, but the same song on anyone's device will make the same level. So, you basically have an infinite amount of levels, with the song as a reference if recommending to a friend (like saying, "You should try Aerodynamic by Daft Punk. Freaking INSANE"). To be honest, though, the worth of the Music mode doesn't really make itself known until you finish the story mode. You'll be begging for more levels, then all of a sudden realise you have thousands in your hand already. :D

So that's how it works :P

Well I haven't finished story mode and I only played with it for a small while so I'm probably play with music mode once I've finished up the core game. Really loving the style. It's a quality shooter that really shows off the worth of apps on the iPhone/iPod Touch :P

Just updated to 3.0 and grabbed Bookworm, The Price Is Right and Minigore. Now I can finally play Baseball Slugger 3D and Music Trivia.

Oh happy day.

To anyone upgrading to 3.0, does your downloads are slower than normal and do you loose the wi-fi connection more often while browsing in Safari ?

Yea, it's obviously not ideal as a nethack platform, but it does the trick for something I have in my pocket all the time. Free is a definite plus.

Yeah, iNetHack is quite buggy and the interface definitely isn't ideal. RogueTouch does things much better on the interface side, although Rogue is a much simpler game than NetHack. Hopefully we'll see regular updates to improve the interface and bugs.

Anyone figure out how to kick in a door?

don't get the appeal of eliss ... tried lite version and doesn't do anything for me. its just a case of matching the balls to the container things?

It's one that gets really hectic pretty fast (though difficulty ramps up slower than initially) and soon requires that you be a pretty good multitoucher.

Update is out for Streets of Rage which fixes the poor performance issues on the 3GS. Still trying to see what people are saying, but the only person on TA who has commented has said that it "plays like I remember now". I love SOR but I'm not sure if I should pick this up...

Shameless plug.., here are a couple of screenshots of our upcoming 365 Puzzle Club game. It features over 8000 Sudoku, Kakuro and Picross (we call them Tenpenki) puzzles in all. It also has daily games to play that go towards your monthly score, with worldwide and Facebook high score tables. The controls work really well and we're looking forward to releasing it. It should be out around September.

Looks great, how much are you charging?

Anyone want to give me a brief recap of everything good between July 25th and today? I notice Minigore is out, but even reading the last few pages of this thread and checking TouchArcade, I'm sure I've missed something.

No need to make effort in terms of screenshots, I'll Appshopper or PandoraBox anything I'm interested in, I just want a list of titles.

Thanks.

dose software looks clean.

I purchased Bookworm, I like it because it's a personal challenge to get better words, but it's really only worth $0.99 in my opinion, so get it while you can. I nabbed Space Ninja when it was free, cool ideas I'm just not into games that rely on the accelerometer. Also playing the lite version of Drop7, which is just countown mode, I see why people like it, it's such a simple concept I can't believe nobody ever thought of before... I may purchase when/if the price drops. I downloaded the Iron Man demo out of curiosity and I don't know if it was just me but man the controls are so sensitive it makes it unplayable.

It's just a different game that feels fresh and fun. I didn't get it the first time. A few days later I tried again and fell in love.

Anyone up for a very simple number game: Pathpix is amazing! I've got up to level 125 or so and noticed the creators have added on advanced levels for when you finish the first 144.

The Edge of Reason? - RE: Mobigame's Edge
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/the-edge-of-reason?page=1

Great article by Eurogamer. Well worth the read.

"It's painful, living with this constant threat. You go home for the weekend and it's all you can talk about with your friends, yet not one of them can help you. You feel alone and there seems to be no way out. It is hard to sleep and to concentrate. We do our best to stay positive but it's difficult. We're finding it hard to start work on our next game."

"As to how original...your game is," Langdell wrote. "I have to differ with you. I think it is a nice game, well programmed, but it plays almost the same as many of our early games for which we are famous such as 'BOBBY BEARING'. Whereas in Bobby Bearing you play a ball rather than a cube, much of the game is rolling around looking for switches that move blocks so that you can get to the next section, or looking for objects you must roll over to get points... Indeed, we have been flooded with communications from people who think your game is made by us because we are so famous for our 1980s games which look almost exactly the same as your."

I ask Langdell to respond to critics who argue he is a trademark troll, seeking income from trademark actions rather than from selling games software. "We categorically deny we have ever acted as 'Trademark Trolls'," he replies. "We do not engage in the practice of waiting until people use our trademarks and then ask them for money (there is no evidence we have ever done that) and we have been actively developing and publishing games every year since 1979, and actively producing game hardware since the early nineties."

But, if you had no intention of asking for licence fee to be paid to you for the use of EDGY, I ask, then why trademark the name the day after Mobigames first proposed the name change? "In hindsight it was a misunderstanding, probably in part caused by David Papazian's less than perfect English," he explains. "But at the point we were discussing the EDGY settlement in May we understood Mobigame was in agreement Edge would technically hold the EDGY registration and Mobigame would license it from us for free. This way Edge could use its legal team to protect Mobigame should anyone ever challenge Mobigame's use of EDGY".

This is a story it's easy to choose a side on. When David faces Goliath, few people cheer on the giant, especially when he's wielding a club and a court order. Accordingly, much of the reporting on the story has been slanted against Langdell. That's understandable. His tone is fractious, his claims seemingly exaggerated and self-aggrandising and, in threatening a two-man indie developer with legal action that, in his words, will potentially cost them "hundreds of thousands of dollars in costs [plus] three times [their] revenues" he inspires no sympathy. He writes like a bully, regardless of whether he has the law on his side or not.

last bump for those that use the 50 post per page count.

I am still hoping Dexter comes out soon, the game looks great and I love the show, even if it's $20 I will get it day 1.

Love the aesthetic. May just bump my default Sudoku app! Are the Sudoku puzzles symmetric and so forth? What is Kakuro?

It's ok. I didn't like it as much as others either, but I enjoy the look and feel. I'm keeping it around as I've only played like 25% of the level. I didn't get Edge at first, but as I got further in, I found I liked it more, and am hoping the same with Eliss.

All iPhones sold out where I live, wait time was about four weeks for the 3GS 32GB. :(

On the positive side though, I bought bookworm on the sale! I tried the web browser version and it's pretty addictive. :lol

Thanks!
Kakuro is basically crosswords with numbers, but you aren't allowed to use the same number in an answer more than once. See here:
http://www.kakuro.com/howtoplay.php

As for the sudoku puzzles, yeh, they are symmetrical etc.. although on the easier levels we fill a few more givens in at the start to help players out.
All Picross puzzles are unique and handmade too.

That was a bit of hyperbole on my part when I said Minigore has better graphics than a 3D DS game. If they are better, it's only slightly, if at all.
