I've been so busy lately I haven't even had time for iphone gaming! :(

Gonna try and catch up on what I've missed. What are the really stand out games since unify has come out?
Robocalypse - Mobile Mayhem
Backbreaker Football
Hi, How Are You

Get 'em all for $5 :D

I'm still rocking hard with unify. Man, I love this game so much.

whenever there's a sudden color shift my brain has that split second to adjust and rework all the matches again in my head. it's jarring, but in a good way. it's a cool sensation. and then the music picks up and the bass gets heavier when the speed picks up in later levels. such a funky sensation.

plus it can be played in quick sessions and is immediately satisfying.

it's everything I love about portable gaming.

hmm... and now Che's recommendation of Hybrid has me seriously considering picking that up this weekend. I had originally dismissed it as an action title due to the virtual d-pad. I'll have to look into it a bit more.

UG! My game crashes literally EVERY SINGLE PLAY. Are you having the same problem? Love the game, but I havent played it in weeks because of this bug - it makes it unplayable for me.

What are you playing on? I'm on a 2G Touch and the game has NEVER crashed on me. Not once.

I'm thinking about going with the 8GB Ipod Touch 3rd Generation ($199) over the PSP-Go. Any suggestions why I should or shouldn't? I know the ultimate decision is mine but I like hearing from you guys.

Just get a refurbished 16gig from apple.com- it's the same price but double the memory. The only downside is that you'll have to pay $5 to get the 3.1 software, but considering that you're getting 8 extra gigabytes $5 is nothing. I got a refurb two weeks ago and I don't regret the purchase at all.

Anyway, Eliminate sounds like it's coming along nicely. How long does the submission process for a game usually take?

never crashed once. I’m on the 3GS iPhone. maybe it’s a messed up limited memory bug if you’re on previous hardware?

I assume you’ve deleted it and redownloaded/ installed it? then reboot before the first play?

Galcon sequel is out.. it's only 99c.

Is anyone still playing Word Ace? I check in most days, but not seeing (m)any Gaffers anymore

If you're interested in playing on Facebook, you can also hop on Word Ace here. As a plus, you can sucker your Facebook friends into playing, then use your superior skills to take all their chips. :D

I still play but it’s usually only 20 to 30 minutes a day (or every couple days) instead of of insane 2 hour power sessions like on release. It’s just much harder to run into people on the friends list when the play sessions are that much shorter.

I know it's been mentioned before but the thread is large so I ask now: what's the best app watcher app for sales and whatnot?

What the fuck is the deal with Gameloft not releasing Dungeon Hunter on the Japanese App Store? :(
I wanted to play this game, but seeing how they are taking so long to release it, I might very well just ignore it whenever it's out...

Seriously, it's the first time this happens with a Gameloft game. They always release everything at the same time.

I'd get but I only have a itouch :-(

they patched it to work with external mics for iPod Touch 2nd Gen

I'm guessing it will only let you record though you won't be able to hear the auto-tune live

Well, they did have a hiccup on launch - there was a game-breaking bug discovered and they had to pull it off the store. It only re-released a couple days ago.

I fired up Underworlds because nobody is in the office and was disappointed when the scantily-clad, big-breasted portrait I chose translated to the same guy as the other guy. Who is a guy.

Does Dungeon Hunter have some spell slinging tarts for me to play as or is it attending the same sausage-fest as Underworlds?

Sausage party all the way. But at least Dungeon Hunter graphically represents the different armor and weapons you're using in game.

Maybe they are localizing it into Japanese, seems like the type of game where that could take a while.

Mixed feelings about canabault.

I enjoy it and it's really addictive, and the music is great. But the touch detection for jumping is really shitty and if you need to do a quick double jump then 9 times out of 10 it misses the second jump. The furthest I made was 2700m

The jumps into buildings sometimes feel a bit cheap too.

I think for $4 it's a bit expensive. $2 would be fine considering I don't think it will hold my attention for more than a few days.

Hey folks,

So it was between the PSPgo and the iPhone 3GS 32 gig. I picked up the iPhone, partially for its gaming potential. What are the have to have games that will impress so I don't feel too bad seeing all of these sexy PSPgo pictures?

If you want something the PSPgo can't touch, and want to pay nothing for it, grab (SHAMELESS PLUG COMING!) Word Ace.

Online multiplayer word/poker game. Costs you $0.

Played a bit of Canabalt on the website, and I've gotta say, it looks spectacular and sounds amazing. The animation's excellent, and the sense of urgency that the game creates is really spectacular.

Two problems, though - it feels like there's a moment after you land where you can't jump again - a few frames where a jump input isn't registering. If that's the case, it's making the controls feel really unresponsive when you really, really need them to work.

The second thing is that when things get going fast, it really seems like there's a point where you can get into situations where you simply *cannot* respond appropriately. You're just moving too fast. You jump, and you can't see where you're going to land, so if you happen to land in a gap... you're screwed. There was no way to know it was coming, since the level keeps changing, and there was no way to see it, since it was off-screen. So I jump to avoid an obstacle, and I land in a gap that scrolls in from off-screen to my instant death. Am I missing something? Because what happened is that most of my games ended in failure I couldn't see coming.

I actually think that the touch controls are better than the mouse. I seem to be able to control them better, and deft, fast, light taps register really nicely.

I've been out of the loop.

Hi, How Are You
Orbital
Dungeon Hunter
Unify
Canabalt

And Hybrid? Don't know much about that one.

A lot to catch up on.

See, when that happens I start using the boxes strategically - as in, to slow me down. Crash into a cardboard box, slow down. You can still jump all the jumps, but you retain some of the control.

Thought I would check in with an update re: DownToZero, since I was so vocal about the developer changing the name to "Countdown", and changed the visual style to a horrible, generic aesthetic.

I've completely ignored the update badge on my phone since that time, until this morning. I happened to have 5 other updates available, so I was going through them one at a time in iTunes. For kicks, I decided to look at the update info for "Countdown".

Well, as of September 29th, the dev appears to have made changes again, this time making namw "Countdown: DownToZero". More importantly, the version notes indicate that it's now possible to toggle the visuals between the original look, the revised "colorful" look, and a new look which is simple and clean. I'm still not happy about the new icon and revised name, but it appears that it's safe for people like myself to update finally, without risk of losing the original tileset.

I'm still a-playin' every so often... Though I must say the anagrammers are a little out of control... Bring on the speed tables!

I can only speak for Canabalt so far. It's a 2d platform parkour where you tap to jump and that's it. Don't let the simplicity fool you, it's definitely a well thought out game that will keep you addicted. You'll be surprised on how a small game on your iDevice manages to produce such a deep atmosphere.

However, it's $2.99 and I may be new to the app store community but I have a feeling that the game will eventually have a sale.
