I can't download iBlast Moki :(. Says it's being modified, so either they're uploading a new version or the deal is actually gone? D:

Dunno, bought it around noon today with no problems. If it's the same price i'd just keep an eye on it.

Just the idea of a directory structure on the iPhone (at least initially) needed to be avoided to get across the idea that it is NOT a computer (even though it is, and they're shifting towards it).

That's some weird anti-organisation hangup you've just projected onto Apples designers.

1 folder containing 8 pages of icons on my front page >>>> 8 pages of icons.

Here's how my phone looks atm...

I agree if we could folder some of our app's it would be great, I don't understand why apple don't give us an option especially when it's easy to fill the default pages up, and searching for an app is worse then browsing especially when sometimes you forget what you have installed or the app has a different name to the game itself.

I only buy a few game a month and uninstall the real old or rubbish ones and I already half like 5-6 pages filled easily, and that's only growing bigger with gameloft's app flood.

I'm not saying it's better the way without, just pointing out how I think Apple saw it as they envisioned the iPhone. What Apple seem to be good at is really stepping back from a device and seeing it again for the first time.

Now that the iPhone OS and UI is so well established, I'm sure they will move forward with it.

Like mrkgoo said, this is how Apple operates. They deconstruct to the absolute basics, then build from there. We'll probably see folders in a future update, or something new altogether.

Unless Steve Job's personally hates folders. In which case, forget about it.

They already have category metadata in the store, I could see them using that somehow in terms of organization on the user end.

Back to games, just did some grinding through Pac Man CE to unlock all the championship levels and was pleasantly surprised to find the last one (part of the DLC) was the same as the 360's 5 minute mode. The DLC has now redeemed itself! Really all I wanted was that one thing, the other extra challenges and missions and crap I don't care about, I just wanted that one level.

That said the other championship levels weren't bad, at the least they give a decent amount of variety if you're not into playing the same level over and over again. If you go for the gold (first on the built in leaderboard) it should give a nice bit of additional challenge too.

Now all I want left is online leaderboards, but at least with the 360 level I have something to compare to. On the 360 my high is around 310k and could semi consistently break 300k, on my first/only iPhone so far I got 267k. Not too bad considering I completely forgot how to handle some of the patterns and lost control a few times.

I kind a wish Pac-Man CE had a classic pac-man mode. There's no way in hell I'm buying Pac-Man for 5 bucks, but it'd be nice to play old school pac with these slightly updated graphics.

Hopefully it will hit a sale sometime. I understand it uses the same control style?

Going by the price history on Appshopper it looks like they do sales on Thanksgiving and in the middle of October. If you're going to wait maybe they'll do a Christmas sale or new years something. Just play the lite one if you need some plain Pac-Man for now. CE is on sale right now apparently so you might as well get that now if you ever planned on getting it.

Both games have dpad and swipe controls, Pac-Man also has accelerometer while CE has a funky fat screen button mode (which is what I use). I think the swipe and dpad work ok on the original, but at the higher speeds of CE I had issues with them, it's different for everyone though.

I've had more control problems with Pac-Man CE than I have with any other half-decent game on the system. Right now I think I'm best having the buttons in the corners for the right and left, with the spacebar looking thing at the bottom moving down and the playscreen moving up. However I have it set, I'll occasionally die from the controls though.

damn Angry Birds is awesome... Has anyone tried out flipt?

So good. Was hooked on minisquadron, but then Pacman came out. Then hooked on that but got sidetracked when Angry Birds was recommended. Trying to 3-star all the levels. Finished world 1, 2 left to go on world 2, and have two or three stars on every level in world 3.

I agree with you. Except iphone shipped with what - four icons on the homescreen? So at that point in time it was a valid navigation method. Now, with thousands of apps in the app store, and app store itself becoming more of a selling point than music, they need to move things on.

I self organise my apps by 'category' with pages for streaming media apps, general apps, particular kinds of games (puzzle etc) but with 9 pages its still a pain in the arse. Plus when you download from the store it just puts it on the first free space it can find.

Yeah, I see what you mean. It's important for them to start out as they have, but it's time for them to over haul for 4.0. Also, I'm fairly religious about keeping to 5 pages of apps, so maybe that's why I complain less in regards to organisation options.

Yeah I got Pac-Man CE because it was on sale, still haven't bit on the DLC yet (waiting until I actually finish everything that came with the initial purchase before I do that. But I think I definitley will be getting it.

It just would have been nice if they included plain Pac. I'd pay a buck extra for a "map" of the original maze...no timer...just lives and levels.

Elf is the Appvent Calendar game today btw. Still can't download it in my location so we'll see how it is tomorrow.

EA's Christmas Sale game today is Auditorium for 99 cents.

You guy's are up too early (I know, timezones :D)... thanks for passing on the deals. Elf looks like a Doodle Jump copy, and the character looks creepy, so I'm going to pass on it. I've already got Doodle Jump anyways.

When is EA going to have a good deal... they keep cycling through past deals instead of putting up newer games.

Word. I'm hoping that, against all odds, they will have a sale on Rock Band and/or Command and Conquer: Red Alert. It doesn't even have to be a 99 cent sale on those. Drop em to $2.99 and I'd buy either one.

However, if you look at the numbers, according to EA's Mobile website they have 34 games in the App Store right now. That means 9 apps will not go on sale, unless they double-up on the days leading up to Christmas.

FAKE EDIT: Hey --- wth?! Auditorium was already part of the Christmas Sale back on December 4th!?!? Give me a new deal, EA!

REAL EDIT: I just tweeted them, though I doubt anything will be changed/added.
@EAmobile Auditorium was already part of the EA Christmas Sale back December 4th! Could we get a sale price on Rock Band or C&C: Red Alert?

To be fair, asking for a sale for game you obviously want is kind of weird. It's like walking into a store and asking if they can put something else on discount because what is offered isn't what YOU want. I know what you mean, though.

I think the sales have been great, but haven't been able to take advantage of many, because all the games I already want, I already bought :/ Oh well, at least I'm having a blast with my iPhone!

I'm not asking because of the current sale not being what I want, so much as the fact that they have now put the same game on sale twice during the same 25 day promotion window, and they have over 25 games that they've published. There's no need for them to repeat the same sale twice.

Like I said in my previous post, I don't expect that my tweet will have any impact, but would you suggest to ask for a game I *don't* want to go on sale?

How is the Where's Waldo game? I'm tempted, but a reader review mentioned there's no pinch to zoom? Seems silly not to have that.

Nah, I know that you mean well. It's just weird making requests. If you really want the games that badly, just buy them and enjoy them. If you're on the fence hoping you will tip, then you're just going to have to wait to whenever that is, but you're probably not that keen on the titles to begin with in that case.

Yes, they don't HAVE to repeat the sales, but this promotion is entirely voluntary by them - they don't have to do a sale until Christmas at all. They're basically just extending awareness probably by putting their old games on sale and spreading it out over a month. They've never said that eventually all their games will go on sale at different times. Who knows, maybe they just do the cycle twice so people who missed out the first time can get it the second. I think doing a small selection twice through is a good idea. Maybe on Christmas eve they do ALL of the ones that have been on sale again for one day.

Whatever they're doing is an excellent promotion, as it has everyone furiously checking every day. Personally I think repeating the special prices is a good idea. Many people passed on certain titles anday be kicking themselves. This way they retain hope that the special comes around again.

Basically the company has an idea of how and when they want to promote their titles. Many people argue the promotions just to be favour of the customer, not realizing that all they're doing is just wanting things their way. If they're not goin to see the sale from the company's perspective, they might as well argue they should just have every app on sale every day.

I know it's already been on sale, but this game is a must buy (and even more so at that price). No excuse not to buy it really, unless you never have sound on or don't use headphones when playing iPhone games.

Pac Man CE's dpad works perfectly for me.
It's the best control method by a mile. But it still has its problems..........I don't think there's any way to fix said problems though. Major one being once the game speeds up and you're quickly changing directions. I'm happy with the content without the expansion, there's plenty there I feel for the price it went on sale at.

**My biggest gripe with Pac-Man (and any other game that does this) is being unable to turn my iPhone in either direction landscape wise. Damn annoying having to situate my fingers around the headphone-jack when using headphones, and with a game like Pac-Man it becomes infuriating when needing to make quick direction changes with my left thumb. iPhone Developers take note, there's no excuse not to have either-way landscape mode programmed in.

On this note, it should be automatic if appropriate as well.it's weird - the default landscape orientation to ke seems more suitable for the iPod touch rather than the iPhone. On the iPhone the headphone Jack and speaker are in the bottom sides, both obscured by your hands when playing landscape.

Of course if your game requires the accelerometer to play, such as labyrinth, aenu option is more suitable than automatic.

You aren't fooling me, EA, you fuckers.
Common practice with a lot of offers you will see, especially around christmas.

Still, just buy when you feel games are low enough and it' all cool :)

Does the $10 price tag on new games work? Game publishers have conditioned anyone who buys apps regularly that if you just wait (sometimes even just a few days), $10 games are drastically reduced in price. Especially when it's a licensed game... I mean, really? Guh.
There should be a set in stone rule that the price you launch at sticks for 2 weeks minimum.

App store update, new layout and way to view screenshots. More then 3 reviews are shown at a time now, more like 10.

I really dislike this new layout. It seems poorly laid out with a lot less information is visible at once.

I really hate that the info isn't all shown and that you need to click more to see the rest. It also requires iTunes to take up nearly the width of the screen on my 13" MacBook... really a very messy looking change just to get the screenshots higher on the page.

It probably don't look too bad on a high resolution monitor though.

Works ok on my widescreen 17" at 1440x but before I hardly had to ever scroll down unless I was reading reviews, now it's like forced on you if you want to read the info. Clicking for it all sucks too the limit before "more" appears should be at least double what it is.

But then that would not work well on low res monitors, gg apple.

*edit* blade master is down to £1.79 until next update, I been hearing mixed reactions to the game but after playing hybrid, I need another 2d fighting rpg.

the new layout also removed the modified pages some developers had for their apps. Tweetie used to have a sweet setup irrc

Well, by selling it at $9.99, a lot of people will jump when the drop it to $6.99, as opposed to just launching it at $6.99.

Sneaky, huh? :p

I just noticed that the new layout shows you the top selling DLC item if the game has any, for example this is from the SeeD 1 page:

Now that is rather smart.
