So far, Plushed is okay. I think it's funny at the least.

OTOH, I'm now effing HOOKED on Pacman CE. I just played it with headphones on, and it was a different experience.

Twin Blades by Press Start Studio is amazing, kinda like a Muramasa for the iPhone...
if you dig action games it's a total must buy.

Wow, I played a bit and it's really fun.
I also got killed stupidly while trying to grind for a few more hearts near the exit of the day 3 level :lol

Did anyone download the Apple 12 Days of Christmas App? Promises free goodies from Boxing Day till Jan 6.

What they are is anyone's guess

Hybrid is now on sale for $0.99, after I bought it for $2.99 about 3 days ago, and it was on sale then too.

Y'know, it's not like it was a bad deal at $2.99, but I'm really starting to fall into the camp that is tentative about buying anything until it's on sale for less than $3, if not $0.99. If developers want their games to retain value, they really need to stop slashing prices with such fervor. I'm not the first person to believe this, but I probably won't be the last...

Post some scores! (really I haven't seen anyone other than me do so, damn lack of leaderboards!)

Got a link? I'm not seeing it or I'm blind.

Ninja Honda Karate is down to 59p, any good for that price?
Eh it's ok. My problem was that the input window seemed pretty big and it has segments were bunches of hits come in and you can just mash away to get past it. I forget if they matched the music all that well either. It's more of a funky experience than a good music game. Get Pac-Man CE instead!

I've got Pac-Man on 360!

I've just noticed that Toki Tori is down to 59p too. Must buy at that price!

speaking of roguelikes, did anyone get sword of fargoal? i read it wasn't very challenging, but was it really well done?

Congratulations on 300 pages! Yay mobileGAF.

I have a question:
I'm located in Germany using the german itunes store. Is there a way to buy stuff from the japanese itunes store? I'm interested in Power Prokun Yakyu Touch and some others. What do I need to do? Just buy a japanese itunes card or anything else? Thanks in advance!

I would think you'd have to get a proxy running and connected to japan. I am not sure if you can connect to other region stores...but emphasis on the I am not sure part. Haven't thought of doing it. Otherwise, wouldn't the Edge game controversy not be so bad (since it almost always seems available in one region or another).

You can connect to other countries' Stores without changing proxy settings.

You just have to create an account on the japanese Store and try to login in the iTunes. When it starts opening the German Store, it'll say something along the lines of "this account is only available for purchases on the Japanese Store" and then it'll take you there.

So my iphone can handle the content of both stores? And I guess I'm right when I said I need to get japanese itunes cards, right?

Hey guys,

My friend recently graduated in game design, and he made a game for the iPhone for his master's degree. It's a free application, and I just wanted to get some honest opinions for him.

The game is a puzzle game, matching colours and all that, with fireworks. It's pretty easy to understand (I hope), and it even has a tutorial.

I really do mean honest opinions, so do your thing GAF. I'll just edit the really soulcrushing stuff.

BTW, the title means fireworks in Luxembourgish.

Wow. MiniSquadron is today's Appvent Calendar free game! gogogogogo!

edit: also, has anyone else had problems with BargainBin not picking up on price drops? Luckily I caught Hybrid because of this thread, but BargainBin never alerted me of the price drop and has never changed the "current price" listing for that game. It just makes me wonder how many other app deals are slipping through the cracks.

Well, I'm trying give you a decent writeup, but it keeps freezing and crashing my iPhone. =P

I guess I'll try restarting.

Edit: Yeah, it freezes every time the second firework comes up from the bottom. I have an iPhone 3GS.

So, given the fact that you want me to critique it, I'll do the best I can: (From what I can tell) It seems like a pretty cool concept, and I love fireworks. The menus are bland and kinda boring to look at. I dig the intro song. The sound quality is pretty low, for some reason, though. Oh, and the game doesn't work on my iPhone.

1.5/10.

(I still rated it 5/5 on the AppStore for your friend, though.)

Same here. Glad I caught hybrid cuz of this thread. I almost missed out on imp oaf as well.

MiniSquadron is AWESOME. Get it now while you can, or wait a day and support the developer. I'm going to see if I can donate a couple bucks to him, because I love this game. It's the first Appvent game I've enjoyed.

Thanks for the feedback. You're actually not the only one with freezing problems.
I have a 3GS as well, and it works fine for me.
My friend encountered way too many crashes on his Ipod Touch just before releasing the game, and he thought he'd fixed it shortly after. He should've been more careful I guess.

I wonder why it passed the App Store review if so many people have crashing issues.

The intro song is pretty awesome I think, but another friend made it so I'm pretty biased about that. The sound quality is probably as low as it is because they used pretty shitty equipment to record everything.

I think iblast moki is great too. The others have been misses pretty much. Though the favorite free game I've gotten recently is minim. It's an odd game about combining numbers/molecules, but I find it super addictive.

You didn't like Samurai? Polyhedra? Or iBlast Moki? What's wrong with you? Blimp and Imp vs Oaf are two high quality titles as well.

Mini Squadron is a great game. I bought it for 99c, but it's worth it at $2.99 as well.

Holy Fuck. If you have NOT downloaded Mini Squadron today for free yet, what are you waiting for!?! This game is flipping amazing! GO GO GO! SO much fun.

Hey GAF. I am about to go on a 15 hour flight and need some new games. Already gotten LUX free because I love RISK and I downloaded Mini-Squadron cause it was a lot of fun.

I really like RPGs, but I am open to almost everything. Single player is preferred. Any recommendations? Thanks!

Undercroft for old school RPG goodness. Dungeon Hunter for Diablo clone-age.

Just downloaded it. Will check out and give an opinion later.

On another note does anyone remember this game from a gaf member? He/She said it would end up becoming an Iphone/Ipod touch game. I don't know if it ever did. The game is a star on a bunch of boxes that on an island. The point of the game was to take a way the boxes without knocking the star in the water.

If you were into those sort of games, I'd say it's a must have. Plays great and there's a good amount of depth to it. Dialogue is occasionally iffy, but doesn't hurt my enjoyment of it. I've only put in a few hours, but I really dig it.

The Deep (Pinball) was updated -- and added a save and load feature finally. But the best news is that there's another table from the team and I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere. Jungle Style. It's a great table too, at least so far. Like The Deep was to Wild West. Loving these pinball tables more than the other pinball tables that have multiple games in them from the amiga era. I wish those were better, but these will do nicely.

Just a heads up for anyone else who enjoys pinball on the iphone.

This. As a game it is absolutely useless. There is next-to no actual gameplay involved (I played for fifteen minutes by moving constantly right and pretty slash or shoot sporadically), but it looks pretty. So, you know.
Thirded, by the way. Beautiful art, shit gameplay.

Both The Deep and Wild West Pinball are free at the moment, with a christmas theme.

Appventcalendar of the day is Doodle Golf.

Wolfenstein, Doom Classic and Doom Resurrection are on sale at the moment.

Nice. Didn't know those tables were free. My friends at work (if you follow my posts, the cheap people I keep talking about) will love this news. Now hopefully I can get them to get the new table too...what's Doom Classic going for? I hear the controls aren't as good as in Wolf3D but if it's half I'll grab it. 6.99 is far too much for Doom to me.

2.99! All over it.

Nah, it's fun. Once you get the air scythe and start mixing up shooting and slicing it gets a lot less repetitive.

It's basically Zombieville USA, which I love, and many others do as well -- so I'm not sure where these people who think it's a poor game are coming from. It's a simple survival game. See how far you can go.

It's grown on my since I've gotten the flamethrower. It makes the zombies pop up quicker, and easier to mow down.

I believe everyone complaining played it for like 2-3 levels or less.

Well, actually no. It has a set number of days (the pause menu says 31, I'm on 11). Oh, and I tried Zombieville USA Lite and didn't like it :O

I got the holy gun early and loved it. Then proceeded to max out the scythe, and now zombies are starting to get tougher so even a maxed out scythe won't be enough.

I just bought the new N64 emulator from cydia, but their payment service is stupid-slow, so I'm not even able to download it yet. When I do, I'll post impressions. Apparently you can hook up a wiimote through the iPhone's Bluetooth connection. Might be cool.

They actually charge for an emulator? I thought most emulators existed only because they are in that grey area where they aren't making money and are done without offical SDKs.

I still need to jailbreak my iPhone one day, but it's too new right now so it would have to be a tethered jailbreak... something I don't want to deal with.
