To whoever sent that link for Word Rush, I am really enjoying the game, but one annoying thing is that I chose "sound off" and yet, when I listen to something on my ipod while playing the game the sounds are still coming.

Hi, that was me. I'll look into fixing that problem, sorry about that. Glad you like the game though.

Sword and Sorcery looks really cool. I lol'd at "Believe"

Edit: After rewatching the trailer, am I the only one who thinks a few of the sound effects are very similar to ones used in Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask? Like in the fight video, when he attacks the ManBear(Pig?) you hear the sound that plays when you target an enemy. The torches sound similar too but hey, they're torches. The bush noises are pretty similar too.

Ok so I've just played maybe 15 mins of Gogfinger and I'm really enjoying it. More people need to start playing it.
It does the free to play a lot better than Eliminate and Touch Pets

Akuma, DLC for Street Fighter IV confirmed?

Yoshinori Ono and Takeshi Tezuka were at the San Francisco Apple Store today, showing off SFIV for the iPhone. I didn't get to go, but my boyfriend went, and here's his report about previously unconfirmed rumors:

There was a lot of stuff they wanted to include, but they ran out of time, as the game had a set release date. However there WILL be updates.

There will be both free and paid updates, including extra costumes and character packs. Akuma will be included as a downloadable character.

The game is selling very well already, so it's very possible they will be releasing Super Street Fighter IV as a separate app. Someone in the audience asked about Marvel vs. Capcom, and it wasn't ruled out (but don't hold your breath).

So it sounds like the game is doing very well, and Capcom is throwing all the support they can on this game!

I have no real issues with what Gameloft is doing because really they're just taking advantage of a huge gap in the market place. The "owners" of the games they're mimicking aren't that aggressively producing games for the iPhone so why should Gameloft sit on the sidelines and do nothing while the market isn't being served.

The other thing is that the video game industry has a long history of companies mimicking others' ideas and adding their own flair (especially in the early arcade era) so I don't feel that any harm has been done.

I agree 100%.

And yes, Sword and Sorcery looks awesome.

Going to look at an iPhone 3GS tomorrow, it's supposed to be sealed new in box (craigslist). I have a 3G and was wondering other then the back casing saying 3GS if there was anyway to check it? I've heard reports of people gutting 3G phones and putting them in 3GS cases...I'm pretty sure this one is legit but I was just curious

Without being able to use it the only thing I can think of is that the 3GS has the oleophobic screen coating. I think it gives off a slightly different look if you look from the sides, like it has a kind of sheen look to it vs the plain glass on the 3G. Also fingerprints and stuff should be easier to wipe off.

In this situation, I honestly wouldn't buy it unless you have absolute proof.

press down the home button. do voice controls pop up? if yes, you got 3gs.

is there a functional compass app? yes. 3gs

does the camera app take smooth looking video? if yes, 3gs.

there ya go.

I've downloaded We Rule and Godfinger and played a bit of each. We Rule is pretty good! It's obviously very much along the lines of Farmville, but there's a hint of some additional things. For example I've purchased a house and at some point in the near future I'll be able to collect taxes from that house. The style of play seems to work pretty well for iPhone. I plant some beans and then I'll get a push message a few hours from now saying they're ready for harvest. Cool. It's like Harvest Moon but on a casual passive level.

Played a bit of Godfinger but not enough to sort out how it all works. I'm not sure yet if I like the style of play or their ways of convincing you to part with your money. It may have a bit more of a "consumable" feel to it? I've only put in a few minutes on this one so I might completely change my mind on this once I've put in the time to feel it out. All I can really say for certain is that the art direction is very cool.

edit:

This aspect of We Rule sounds very cool

One neat aspect of the game is the integrated social network. You can see your friend's kingdoms and even visit them. Once in another kingdom you may patronize a business which works similarly to crop harvesting. You initiate an action, such as ordering an item which may take some time to build. Your friend must then take their own action to fulfill the order and back and forth. The end result is an earning of gold for both parties, but only after mutual participation

I've invited one of my friends to We Rule so I'll get to try out and see how this works in a bit.

Ok played a bit more Godfinger. So far it's a lot more obnoxious about the messages it pushes out to you than We Rule, though I haven't played much yet and these sort of games tend to be tutorialish at the start so it might just be a temporary thing. One obnoxious thing that might always be present is that you regain mana over time, and the game will send you a message to the effect of "you have full mana! Come back and wow your followers!" That could potentially happen constantly.

As well I've made two farms and you can get money by dropping your followers on farms and having them work. Unfortunately and obnoxiously, you have to return to harvest the gold they create, and they create a tiny amount of gold in a very short amount of time. I very much hope that there will be upgrades to make the farms more like the farms in We Rule, which generate large amounts of money over a long period of time. Perhaps there are upgrades... I've only still played a bit.

Hey guys,

So my game is getting closer to completion now, but our game doesn't have a name yet.

So we're holding a contest to name our game and win some free codes.

Go check it out http://www.trickshotgames.com/?p=64

Here are some screenies:

One of the things that we're very proud of is the ability to generate a crapload of sprites at once

All the push stuff is getting fixed

You can turn off push messages in the individual categories by going to the menu and hitting "Notifications".

Eliminate Co-Op is out now, an added mode to Eliminate which two players (friends or matchmaking) go against bots and flying drones, rather similar to Gunz mission mode mixed with gears of war 2's horde mode. Bots drop loot with time or use limits that you can then use next time or take into deathmatch.

I been waiting for co-op mainly because the dm mode is unbalanced shit, but I still try to like the game as it can be good at times when it is not unbalanced.

Oh wow, check out Kerplinkus people! Awesome retro style with challenging, addictive and super frantic breakout meets tetris gameplay. The game features timed and endless modes with easy, normal and insane difficulties and global scoreboards and is a bargain at £0.59/$0.99 - i'm so damn addicted to this, spent the past hour and a half playing it and now my eyes ache :lol

Let's not. What 3D do you see in SF4 on the iPhone? Those are prerendered sprites fighting on top of static background images, with FMV for the ultras. There was a decent enough port of Killer Instinct on the SNES back in the day. The DS could certainly handle this.

If you took SF4 iPhone as it is now and put it on the DS, it would be 1000 times better because of the controls alone.

If it were done in the same way as on the iPhone? You've got to be kidding me. :lol This is a stupid discussion anyway. I want SF4 portable on a platform that can actually do it justice. Namely the PSP.

I hate the port just as much as the next guy, as I've gone on record about a few pages back, but I think you're being overly critical. The iPhone ports controls work very well; surprisingly well in fact.

I just don't agree with the thinking behind the port and disappointed in the execution of the visuals.
