The Official iPhone/iPod Touch Gaming Thread

Has anyone seen gametrailers today? They switched to a mobile version with no way to load the regular version on your iPhone/iPod touch. Wtf?

This used to be one of my favorite sites to view on my iPhone and they have gimped it to the point it's unusable. Apparently they are pushing iPad users to the mobile version also.

Come on GAF what can we do about this?

Email game trailers and tell them they're losing ad views from iPad users. The mobile site on the iPad looks ridiculous. Probably a decision made by someone who has never seen the web on an ipad in real life.

Haven't tried it, but you can download Atomic Web Browser for 99 cents and tell it to spoof you as using Firefox.

Edit. Actually worked. It's a shame I have to use another browser, but it works. :D

Don't think that will work. I tried user agent faker for sbssettings. Made sure to check safari was seen as firefox 3, and gametrailers still sent me to the mobile site.
Just tried it, it sent me to the regular PC page.

Except it doesn't.

Chaos = Kay-oss

It's really not that hard...

:lol wasn't serious dude

and I broke down and bought Chaos Rings.

the glowing review on the New York Times of all places made me break.

well holy shit, chaos rings delivers. I've played it for two hours now, and I can say this - it's vastly superior to FFXIII in terms of first impressions :D

The graphics are total throwback PSX era, and the story scenario is fresh enough to feel modern and fun, like a good new manga series.

Beyond that, the battle system is well done and the music is really good.

All around, the best JRPG I've played since Persona 4.

I would like Tilt To Live more if it was Touch To Live. :\
Aw man I love the controls in Tilt to Live. Makes it more fun that you have a lot of leeway with the teeny hit box on the player too.

you're totally not making this easy for me. :lol

dude, the battles just feel like PSX era Final Fantasy, and so do the pre-rendered backgrounds.

Scales just fine to ipad, too. I'll probably buy the hd version just to support this sorta game on the platform.

Kinda off subject. Does anyone have problems with the Ipod touch USB cable. I'm on my 2nd one that has split. The first one I took back to the apple store and they gave me another one. I just put electrical tape on the 2nd one.

Just thought I would let everyone with 3rd gen touches that you can get Espgaluda II now. Ive been dying to get it since it was released and its amazing, just as awesome as everyone has said.

I've been playing a puzzle game called chromixia or something. I really like it. You have to use different coloured pieces to overlap and mix colours to fit in a frame of a target colour. Its basically like a jigsaw puzzle, but you have to think about the pieces overlapping correctly.

I'm putting it right up there with my other favourite puzzlers such as colorbind, electric box, and geared.

1st puzzle on hard is pissing me off.

Maybe it's because it's 3:30AM, but I fucking suck at Mikado Defenders, and I'm normally alright at TD games. ._.

Lite version out now too for those on the fence.

Just got the crazy idea - what are the chances S-E will release Before Crisis on iPhone? All the art and assets are there, just pimp resolution a bit and g2g.

There was an update for Ridge Racer: Accelerated the other day;

1.1.0:

- Analog + digital virtual pad options
- Time attack mode*
- 4 courses added*
- 6 machines added*
- Listen to your own music*
- Numerous bug fixes

* 3.0 or later required

All the framerate problems I previousley had have disappeared and the new digital pad control option is freaking awesome, makes the game a hell of a lot more playable. One of the most underrated racers on the iPhone imo and easily the best thing NAMCO have put on the store.

If anyone hasn't seen the Uniqlo Calender, you should give it a try. It's free anyway.

iTunes link as well as a PC/Mac version is on their site. http://uniqlo.com/calendar

It's basically time-lapse videos with Tilt Shifting lens, but damn it's cool!

I know the feeling :lol

Couple of things that are not made clear except during random loading screens.

- The bonus money you get at the end of a round is dependent on how much money you have left. So try to keep as much money as you can just before the end of the round (just before you go into castle upgrade).

- Try to max out your castle ASAP. It confers bonuses (not exactly sure what, but my units tend to be tougher after upgrades), allows you to use your spirit guardian more often and allows you to fight the boss and recruit more generals.

that would be cool I guess, but if it was that or more original stuff like Chaos Rings, I would prefer the latter.

Awesome, I not played since I raced the first track pack to death a few months ago, I actually thought they gave up with this app... Shows that I not loaded up itunes for a few days doesn't it :P

It's a shame that they had to water down the car reflections on older devices, did they add them back in with this update? my 2g touch was ok running it before they optimized it.

*edit* 13 updates lolz

Hey dude you should get on the Espgaluda II scoreboard over in the official thread. Add me on OpenFeint: adversity.
I would...but I don't have a device that can play it yet. 5 more days (3G iPad) then I can join in! I played it once cause I installed it onto an Apple Store iPad last time I was there at least.

Don't suppose anyone who has Plants Vs Zombies could answer a quick question for me?
I have already completed PvZ on the PC and absolutely loved it and, although I know none of the mini games are in this version, is there some sort of quick play or survival mode? Say if I'm sat waiting for a train or something, I'd like to to just go on it and just play a level instead of just doing the story mode levels in order then starting from the beginning when I complete them like in the PC version.

There's a Quick Play option, but it doesn't unlock until you finish the Adventure mode.

How does that work? Do you just play the same levels with the same zombies from adventure mode or do you get a random assortment of zombies?

Not sure, still working my way through adventure mode myself.

So I've been kind of addicted to Sword of Fargoal lately... it's been killing my battery life. That's okay though, as it's the best roguelike I've ever played.

Not really sure how to link but
Little metal ball is free today. It is a labyrinth like game with great graphics and its fun.

I love the game Cows in Space. Anyone else have it?

I'd like to comment that I find Donut Games interesting. They have a lot of hit and misses, and some of them are genuinely fun. But wow, they really churn that stuff out, and they never change their interface either.

I love their graphical style, it reminds me of old amiga games. Too bad they don't have demos of any of the games..

In case anyone hasn't already, everyone needs to buy Fruit Ninja!

As a pretty heavy gamer on my iPhone, I have to say this could well be the next Doodle Jump, Canabalt etc..it's just perfect for the device!

You're task as the Fruit Ninja is to well...chop fruit! The view remains static while different fruits are thrown up into view, then arc back down off the screen. You need to slash the fruit up while they're on screen, and avoid slashing the cheeky bombs thrown up too.

The game feels amazing, the art direction is awesome, the sound design is perfect and the OpenFeint/Facebook/Twitter integration is bang on. Another amazing, yet different score attack game for iPhone..I highly recommend!

I guess you could say offucial thread here.

just bought it a few days ago, lots of fun :D

I bought Chaos Rings and I'm not disappointed so far, battles are pretty damn fast for a turn based RPG, looks and sounds fantastic as well

So does anyone is this thread own Scrabble and use it with Facebook?

I bought the EA Scrabble on iPhone toady because I read it integrates with your Fbook games... but for some reason I dont even get a prompt to log into Fbook when I start the Scrabble app on iPhone. Apparently youre meant to get a prompt to sign into Fbook when it starts.

Anyone know what the deal is?

any impressions on Linkin Park 8-bit Rebellion? I hate the band and generally hate social gaming, but god damn this game looks awesome and the YouTube videos make it look even moer awesome. If there aren't any impressions on it by the end of the week I may have to pick it up. Sucks that they charge the same amount for the ipad and iphone versions but didn't just include them in a single download. :\
