Fucking hell... that's a pretty big assumption.

if you examine each item in the court record and think about the problems raised in the case so far, the game is usually pretty easy as lateral thinking goes. in the first case, the
passport
is the sole piece of evidence that you haven't used at that point, and the main problem of the case so far has been working out
why the girl's clock said the wrong time
...is it really that hard to make the connection?

Yup: welcome to a series of games where NOTHING makes narrative sense, everything is based around illogical leaps, and yet, somehow, people rave about the damn things.
Someone sounds bitter.
The number of truly illogical leaps throughout the series is luckily quite limited, and most of the absurd guesswork is done by the game for you.
With the hints you get, you have only yourself to blame most of the times you get stuck.
It's usually because of something clearly spelled out somewhere, or a logic connection you didn't get for some reason.
Sometimes the required guesswork is indeed a bit out there, this is true, but saying that nothing makes narrative sense and everything is based around illogical leaps is definitely wrong.

I hate people confusing "8 bit" with "pixel art".

Wanted to give everyone a heads-up that I've got a game in development, and I'm SUPER excited about it!

And a quick description:

Wispin is a fast-paced arcade title featuring unique "color-based" gameplay. Use the innovative "Touch Color Wheel" to change the color of Wispin's aura on the fly and gain special immunities and offensive abilities! But beware, your choice of color contains weaknesses as well! Quick thinking will be needed to triumph over a quirky cast of enemy characters, each sporting unique attributes of their own...

Check back very soon for more information and media (including a gameplay trailer!) http://www.grumpyfacestudios.com

It's Indie in every sense of the word, so I could really use some GAFfer support in building up some pre-release hype! Check out: http://www.grumpyfacestudios.com

Thanks a bunch guys!

No offense to the poster above and all the cool developers who post here, but I think it's about time to tighten up on the press release postings in this thread. It's starting to feel like Touch Arcade.

I agree with this. The other day I was looking at the official GAF spread spreadsheet of Only Games Worth Buying™ and noticed that some dude had added his own game to the list.

Somebody official make a call or vote or something then, as I was going to post about our new game tomorrow.

I'm pretty okay with people posting about their games, but it's pretty obvious who is just posting about their game and who is advertising their game. It's also pretty obvious who is a GAFfer who has happened to make a game and who is a game maker who happens to be on GAF.

I suggested a couple of months ago that we have a thread for posting about stuff we've played, whether we like or don't, deals etc, and another for devs to sel their stuff to us.

Well, obviously I'm a bit biased, but I've always been interested in Indie stuff developed by GAF users (or in general, really) even before I was creating my own. Either way, I have no intention of spamming.. just wanted to share!

Getting your game out there is really hard, especially with a market so broad like the iPhone. It's good to get feedback on stuff (certainly helped Fruit Ninja) so places like NeoGAF are obvious targets.

I say devs should be able to get in here and promote their own games alongside what you're playing and deals and whatnot. It's not often that you're free to talk about your own game in this industry :)

I don't mind the promote posts but sometimes they can go a bit overboard with url's and "requests" so to speak, I don't mind hearing about games from gaffers but make it sound a lot less like a PR please :)

So I beat Sword & Poker 2, question:

I beat the guy in 13F on the tower, got the ending, etc. But I'm still missing a key item, and a couple of the items from golden enemies in the tower. When I get all of these, do more levels open up?

Even your avatar is promoting your game... you embody spam
That's really fucking rude.

How dare someone spend their time making a game and then have the nerve to be proud of it and want people to play it.

the thing about fruit ninja is that it's a professional, polished game made by a semi-professional studio (or professional indie or whatever vernacular you'd prefer, i mean to be descriptive not insulting)--the reason people are complaining about plugs is because many of the games being plugged are not games that gaf would otherwise be interested in. i don't want to name names or anything.

I don't see the big deal if someone wants to promote their game in this thread. Go for it. I'd rather someone get exposure and hopefully have greater chances of success for their game than keep some thread in a forum on the internet too sacred for that type of stuff :lol

Assault Squadron looks pretty sweet, I think I'll pick it up. Love me some shmups.

So far I haven't really liked most of the shmups I've tried on iphone and ipad. The movement is always wonky as hell, I guess that's the problem with touch screens, but it's never quite as smooth as a stick. How's this one?

I have had zero problems with moving around, it's become one of my fave iphone games released this year because it's build well. it also runs at a solid 60fps on my 2g touch and should do also with an old 3g iphone going by what the devs say on touch arcade.

So true and this thread is ideal for small indie iphone devs to get some exposure

Let 'em post their games. I don't see what the big deal is. This is the perfect place for it.

Seriously. You've got a sticky thread dedicated to a game based on a totally unfunny forum meme and that's ok, but this isn't?

Hey everyone, just wanted to draw your attention to my game Doodle Find! It's a fast and frantic game where you have 90 seconds to find as many objects as you can. It's tougher than it looks and has world and friends leaderboards via Facebook Connect.

It's been #1 in Australia all this week (finally got knocked off yesterday by ... Grand Theft Auto - so I don't feel too bad). Been #1 in Singapore, Hong Kong. #2 in Austria, #3 in Germany and the UK. Doing really well in most other countries.

I'm sure quite a few of you would have played it already and can testify to it's mysterious powers of addiction, but the game hasn't been doing as well in the US and Canada as I would like, so I hope you can all check it out.

It's FREE, so no cost of entry. Pretty please, click - play - enjoy!

Matt

sounds interesting. I'd like an ipad version of that and/or search 60 (not sure of the differences), as its the sort of thing that I'd play with my kids

Seriously, theres a handful of games like Avoid Hitting Piano that I always keep on my ipod that I would have never learned about if it wasn't for devs posting here.

Keep on pimpin' your stuff devs.

Anyone know whats hapenning with Sonic CD? Was it stopped by Sega?

And what about that Sega emulator thingy that they were gonna releasein which you could buy games like Shinnng Force etc individually?

Princess Fury sounds so awesome, first thought was that it's a clone of guardian heroes, out on the 3rd.

Taxman is still silent about what is going on, which makes me believe he is still doing something for sega.

The megadrive/genesis collection was rumoured to be binned, shortly after that rumour they released sonic 2 as a stand alone app like sonic 1 is, you're guess is as good as mine.

I think Tumbledrop is the perfect precedent in this whole debate. It's one dude making some posts about his game, it's a good game, win-win.

We can surely endure some not-so-good titles being praised by the devs here if occasionally, gems like Tumbledrop come along, right?

Also, remember that the people posting their games here open themselves to criticism directly under their posts, and they can't do shit about it. So it's fair.

The Google Document argument is valid, but that would've been possible without this thread allowing devs to show off their games as well.

On the subject of dev's promoting their games.. Just found this... [warning: direct bragging]

8:04PM: All the best-known awards are coming up now. I'm getting tingly! Maybe ‘cause the only thing I ate all night was that lint brush.

8:07PM: LOVE my new iPhone! Critter Crunch is the funnest game ever.

8:35PM: Whoa! Alec's yelling at me to get onstage for the "good night!"

8:40PM: FANTASTIC EVENING! Wasn't I amazing?

Mind. Blown.

Just to clarify, I'm all for devs posting about their games. I just don't want to see copy-pasted press releases. When a familiar Gaf member posts a shot of their game and a link, I always check it out. It's just starting to feel a little impersonal.

If it helps at all, I've been using GAF for about 12 years now :P

Anyway, in other news.. apparently Robot Unicorn Attack is going live TODAY! I've been checking the app store every hour since midnight last night :lol

Nope, it isn't going live today. It's still awaiting approval.

So, our iPhone label, PikPok, just announced another game in the Flick Kick series - Flick Kick Football - a goal kicking game with multiple modes, variable walls of defenders, and OpenFeint support.

It's all packaged up in a 70s comic book style, reminiscent of "Roy of the Rovers". See screens below.

The guys are still polishing the title, but we should be submitted before the end of the week, which hopefully means we are out sometime next week at $0.99.

In other iPhone related news, we have increased the size of our iPhone team, and have started working on some much more ambitious iPhone games. Probably be a few months before we announce either of those officially though.
