The Official Left 4 Dead Thread

Yep, yep. Last night FireX, myself, and two others made it through expert like 2-3 times, out of like 20. lol. Oddly enough, we didn't really run into many tanks. I think we saw three of them and two we killed. The third one spawned right in the last room at the top of the staircase. I had nothing but the rifle and got DESTROYED. So did everyone else, because of the closed space.

Something really odd happened. Somebody alerted a witch while I was in one of the trains. The thing ran up, and while I was shooting at it and sidestepping in the seats, it missed, so I melee'd it. It wouldn't stop fucking swinging, but, it was missing. I dunno who killed the thing at last, but, it was scary as hell. O_O It felt like I was staring at Lisa fucking Trevor from REmake, with no herbs, a combat knife, and one bullet in the suicide gun. O_O

One round I got pissed off with the smoker, because it tag teamed me with a hunter and killed me. So, when I got caught with the tongue I managed to shoot myself free. Then I ran up to it and bashed it skull in with my shotty, since I didn't feel like wasting bullets. Ended up meleeing it to death. lolz

The director spawns the witch in some really evil spots. Right in front of the door where you have to defend. Right next to the final subway car. In the last area where all of the pillars are and waves of zombies.

Getting vomited on sucks. :( I tried drawing the crowd away from my team and got pwned by a hunter. :(

Major lolz when one person had been getting shot all the time during one round, so, right before we finished the match, he shot the one who had been incapacitating him and shut the door on his face. :lol

Nothing like waiting on the ledge at the start of the subway section, only to have the director hit you with a wave of zombies as soon as your foot touches the ground of the lower level. >_<

Huh? Hide behind your team and get in a corner or something. Infected will only attack you, so your team can easily protect you, block them and just mow them down.
 
The Gamestop glitch actually worked for me!

Just got my 360 code a few hours ago after entering in the info on the Gamestop website yesterday morning. :D

Just got my code from Gamestop. Sadly, I have to spend all of tonight moving crap out of my brother-in-law's house.

Woot - you can find the demo if you look in the right places. :D Glad to see it up so soon - hopefully these companies realize preventing people from playing the demo of games they MIGHT buy isn't a good idea.
 
Omg expert with Poweld was awesome, we suck. And sorry I didn't talk back I was trying to figure out how to but never did. Also, Nice new name.

At the end of the apartments level, we were all limping to the end, and Twig got caught by a smoker AND a hunter, I'm like "NOOOOOOOO TWIG!" We saved him though!

Also, always fun to fight a Tank and have everyone taken down but yourself, then this happens:

Uh, everyone can get a demo starting next Tuesday whether they preordered or not. It's not preventing anyone, it's called a lack of patience on the user's part!

Dying alongside GAFfers on a questionable server was fun as hell.

If you're doing good, will The Director toss even more stuff at you to dick you over, to keep it challenging?
 
Anyone who wants a 360 code should just fill in the form on gamestop.com, leaving the purchase code (or whatever) blank. I did this yesterday (without preordering) and just received my DL code.

Messing around playing as zombies vs AI. As anything but the tank you really do need to sneak up because you get taken down so easily. I can see ways that this could be really fun to mess with players too, going up drainpipes and attacking from above, spawning yourself behind them, etc.

That was some fun shit, dude. Same to Won, CajoleJuice, Spear, and Pillowknight. It is definitely luck based (at least a little bit) due to inherently random nature of The Director, but there's also the underlying slingshot system. While we'll probably never know exactly how TD works, it's gotta be a bit difficult to manage where and how it weights your performance in determining what to throw at you. And, yes, tanks are absolutely brutal.

I really, really, really, really can't wait to see the epic onslaughts that end each of the campaigns. Waiting for the door to open? That's only 10% through the game.

And the Killing Fields? There's gotta be a section where you're camped out in a barn as zombies flood at you from 360 degrees.
 
Guys I have a question!

Anyone ever had any problems with Steam Overlay flickering a lot? When I try to use it in L4D, it's damn near impossible to read anything. It's like melodramatic dynamic artifacting, for no reason whatsoever.

Haven't tried any other games, yet. Gonna try TF2, now, see if it has the same problem.
 
A good friend of mine, (Who has applied for the site but has not been approved yet,) just preordered and it seems will not be getting a code. Anyone have a spare that they would care to donate to this poor, unfortunate soul?

You can find it on "certain" websites that are deemed "inappropriate".

I did a couple times, but it usually worked fine with a game restart.

Figured out the problem. Steam overlay borks in fullscreen games, but not windowed. Unfortunately, there's no way my laptop could handle L4D in windowed mode. ]=

Ran through the first part twice today.

Once on Normal with 4 people, next time on Advanced, two guys ran into the cars and then rape commenced. :lol

I ran through it going slow on Advanced in single player and it was interesting to see where it threw zombies at me.

I'll probably put the video up today.
