L4D runs way better for me than Episode 2/TF2/Portal did. I've got a 4 year old comp and it runs the L4D demo very nicely at 720p while I go down to 640*480 in TF2 to keep the framerate up.

Wouldn't the stats record the amount of demerits (i.e. Friendly Fire, jumping into fire, not giving up medkits/pills, rescuing mates) on 360 as well?

I killed the witch, the hunter, Francis, and about 40 zombies, who all ran to the pipebomb/francis.

im sure this is a lovely story but i got horribly sidetracked when you kept calling everybody by their first name and Louis just "Black dude"

its weird.

Can you please say me what is your config?
I want to play L4D as soons as possible but I have right now a pretty crappy computer and I doubt that it'll run L4D. However it runs TF2 nicely, since you say that L4D runs better than TF2 I'm thinking about playing L4D in this computer.

Wow...I've had a few successful matches finally, but one of them a tank spawned in the fucking safe room :P Has this happened to anybody else?

I've had a smoker and hunter and swarm spawn inside the start zone seconds after leaving it in the Subway.

Yeah I'm pretty sure that's people in control of the server. When I spawned there was 4 tanks in there once. Next time it was filled with witches... I tried my best not to startle them haha

I was Bill, and the witch's strike propelled me against the bookshelf. As she was gunned down one guy asked "How did that happen?"

Zombies have no respect for war vets.
 
For the few left that don't know, there's an easy way to load up L4D really quickly and streamline replaying habits!

C:\Program Files\Steam\SteamApps\common\left 4 dead demo\left4dead\media

Delete the "upsell video" - you go straight to lobby instead after winning
Erase everything and save the startupvideos text file - no startup videos.

Doesn't help if you have to wait for the other people though.

or you can do -novid in launch options
 
I also tried editing the pistol_fire.wav to make it less loud, but audacity likes to add static. I wonder if making it a 4MB .wav will cause L4D to error :lol
*Nope, just raised the quality, it's all good now. Hopefully I don't go deaf now. :lol

There's also a knife under the weapons folder...

What CPU are you running and what settings?
 
Apologies in advance if this was already covered, but I do not care to read through 45 pages of the thread:

Does the 360 version require a Gold Live account to play this game online? If so, wouldn't that be a rather limiting factor on sales for the console version of this game?

Before anyone asks, I currently limit my online gaming to the PS3, but Valves tells us that L4D will not appear on that console.

Well, I was kinda joking. I would think it would get harder, and -- if Valve adds in a functioning server browser -- you'll be able to look for servers with even harder difficulty settings.
 
So my friend just came up with this stupid idea - Zombie Raptors.:lol I know it makes no sense in context and it has no place in the game, but since he's mentioned I can't think of any other ideas.

Imagine fighting a horde and all of a sudden a raptor comes flying from out of the middle to nibble on you/your teammates face.

Faster than a hunter.
Can run on walls. ( eff you reality!)
Spit that blinds you. (Jurassic Park ftw!)

I know how ludicrous this sounds but - I still want it.

Jurassic Park mod!

Regular zombie -> Compy or a small raptor.

Hunter -> Velociraptor

Smoker -> Pteradactyl

Boomer -> Triceratops

Tank -> T-Rex. Throws you with it's jaws or it chomps down.

Witch -> Ian Malcolm brooding in a corner. Do not disturb.
 
Can anyone confirm melee being able to block a Witch's attacks? On several occasions a timely melee has saved me from her claws. My character will go into third person for a few seconds, I'll still be able to run around, and the Witch wouldn't have killed me and she might run after someone else.

I knew you could hold off of infected with melee, but I had no idea the medkit was so useful for the task.
 
Played through the demo three times tonight with a friend on Live. Our final run through was on Expert and by far the most enjoyable, challenging and intense. Just awesome. I was always going to get L4D, and playing the demo didn't change that. When I played on Expert though, I definitely left wanting more. Can't wait for the game now.

yeah.. expert mode is easy.. until you play with people you dont know and its all of a sudden not so easy.

I played with strangers and it's still easy. Once you know how to deal with the various situations, all you have to worry about is executing it correctly, and doing this with a mouse and keyboard is incredibly simple.

After playing this today....I honestly can't understand why Valve/EA would want to keep this demo hidden. I just don't get it, this was a game that I was iffy on before today but after acquiring the code and playing online for a bit, I'm sold.

I really don't see what the point of holding the demo for preorders was, unless EA/Valve were not confidant in their product (And I don't see how they couldn't be). I would think that more sales would be generated by people downloading the demo, playing it, realizing it's awesome, and buying the game, then by using the demo as some sort of carrot, trying to blackmail people into pre-ordering.
