Take it up with the server owner, because it's not really Valve's fault considering they don't own all the servers. Me and my friends sometimes ask people to leave to make room for others, and they're not angry about it. Besides, majority rules does not mean votekick is broken. Also, unless you're actually banned and can prove it, disregard my first sentence, get over it, and find another server/game.

And complaining about rude people on the internet is an exercise in futility.
 
Speaking of the Hunter class, I've found you still have a good shot of dealing some damage after being hit with a melee. Sometimes survivors choose to chase you with more melees instead of finishing you with bullets right away, so you have a chance to land a few melee swipes of your own. You don't have to crouch like a pounce, so you can easily take some overconfident survivors by surprise.

I've eliminated as much as a quarter of health that way.

It's also amusing if someone's being pounced, and myself (a smoker), was able to do melee swipes on the person that was being slashed by a hunter and do even MORE damage during that period before the other survivors killed us.

Once you get the hang of Boomer and Smoker, they're really fun. But man, those first few matches are about as fun as getting a root canal.

Obviously neither you nor rain bothered to read my original post either apparently. I explained why i was kicked in my original post, how hard is it for you and him to read>comprehend>then post? And Before everyone else says, OH BIG MISTAKE that is a mod, no kidding. I just dont understand the attacks on me like i did something wrong when i explained why i was kicked from the servers.

Hehe, yeah. It gets even better when you surprise a lone survivor as a Smoker and you incapacitate him with your blows alone. I was able to do so today, and the dude was carrying an M-16 :lol . A friendly Boomer walked in, leaned over and barfed all over the guy.

I got points for every punch and kick that swarm delivered :lol

I can prove it, next time you get kicked from a server, try to rejoin and it will tell you that you are banned..now if that is a permaban i dont know, but if you rejoin it says you have been banned. I do go to the next server but its basically a crap shoot, now i feel like i have to ask the people already there if i can play, out of fear of being booted right away..and no i wont find another game, i payed 50 bucks for this.
 
Had a pretty frustrating night of L4D tonight. I love the game but I was frustrated almost the whole time playing it tonight. We were playing on Advanced just to run through and get the achievements for completing Blood Harvest and No Mercy in one sitting, and it took four hours. The game was just throwing ridiculous situations at us. Hunter, Smoker, Horde and Boomer at the same time left and right.

And to make matters worse, we were going to get the achievement for sneaking by all the Witches in the Blood Harvest campaign, and on the last one, Zoey's AI walked directly up the witch and just stood there. She went out of her way to go startle it. It wasn't like she just got too close, she went down a hall she didn't even need to go down. And then in the Farmhouse Finale when three of us were defending from the barn, she stayed in the house all by herself like three or four attempts. It just sucked.

I wasn't just imagining things then. I seriously had problems with spawning because some of the corners and nooks/crannies were unfit for spawning all of a sudden.

It DID have the cool flying hunter corpse mod though; every server should have this one. :lol

I meant find another game to join, as in another server. And I really don't go to the server browser much, just join some friends in a lobby, and go from there.

Also, might just be a temporary ban of sorts (so people don't rejoin over and over and over continuously), so try it again later. If that doesn't work, find the server owner and explain what happened.

It is not worth it to keep a running list of servers i have been banned from and then track down owners. This votekick is abused that valve has implemented. If you play on something like TF2 people who just want the server for themselves cant just boot you since usually it takes like 3/4th of a server to boot you...now you need only two votes from 3 people..a bit unfair.
 
But are the votekick bans permanent though? Once the game you were booted from ends and the people who were playing are gone, you can't join the same server?

How the hell is that unfair? 2 votes out of 3 means the majority don't want you. It's hardly unfair. Not to mention I haven't been kicked out of a single game so I'm not sure wtf servers you are playing on.

I am just clicking on random servers that are not full? Ya know finding a game to play, etcc? And no it is not fair, that is ripe for abuse, only needing 2 people to vote you out? For example, last nite this guy im playing with just keeps on shooting me whether by accident or not and i accidentally hit him once and he starts a votekick on me and im gone, hardly fair if you ask me. However im going to shut up because this is GAF im on and i have come to learn that either you are going to get lots of sympthay or none at all, no in between. I will just keep an eye out for any of you who start to get kicked and bitch on here, i will call you out very quickly, done with this line of chat.

Yeah, I just randomly choose to quote someone and say something that completely does not go with what was being quoted. You did not say if you joined a lobby or a game in progress in your post, which I asked/suggested as a possible reason why you were getting the boot in a later post on the page. If it was a game in progress, as I already said, there's a good possibility you were kicked because someone that was playing got disconnected and was trying to get back in. So it was nothing actually against you.

You're only being "attacked" because your responses so far to no-foul-intended questions make your username on GAF fit perfectly, and not really addressing the problem you are having in the game, as you are just lashing out at responders instead of attempting to listen to anybody. A couple of people have asked with sympathy, but you threw shit at them, put them on your ignore list, decided they don't know how to comprehend what you are saying. You don't really deserve any sympathy after that.

Well, since you are done, I hope you find non-kicky people and enjoy the game.
 
Man, has anyone else ever had this happen?

I think "Hey, I'll try playing easy, since I need that airport campaign achievement. Maybe I can get the pistol achievement and the no healing achievement too!" (playing online, friends only, but no one ever joined so I just used AI players)

I did get the spinal tap and airport achievement, but MAN...I think every single level had one, if not two tanks, and the final map had 3-4 tanks. There were 1-2 witches on at least a couple of the levels. I had to heal a bunch, and got incapacitated once or twice. The computer AI is pretty good sometimes, but still died a few times. I ran all over the place in the airport before realizing that one cargo plane was where you're supposed to go.

I did find out that you can respawn on that final map (you respawn way in the back in a room). I also found out through the campaign that if an AI human gets too far away, they may just teleport back to you.

And then the credits rolled and said difficulty: ADVANCED.

And then it went back to the lobby, which clearly still said difficulty: EASY. Is this yet another server thing, where some servers randomly decide to only allow advanced games? x_x

Oh, and to add to the annoyance, I didn't get the pistol achievement, after killing my hand with 1.25 hours worth of pistol shooting (2000+ zombies dead all told, and I think I killed the most). Does using medkits/pills/pipe bombs/molatovs count against that achievement? It's kind of annoying that computer players don't pick up or use explosives, but I guess they'd hit the human players too much otherwise.
 
Mutfox said pipe bombs and molotovs can't be used while going for Akimbo Assassin, so Pop on Arrival and I didn't use any and got the achievement.

I actually had something similar happen to me a few nights ago. I just jumped into a co op campaign via server browser and everything is going swimmingly. We clear without a hitch ( I didn't say a word the whole time btw..) and at the beginning of the last round (hospital roof), one guy intiates a vote kick on me and I'm gone like that. No rhyme nor reason. It's annoying to say the least. It was also the last time I used the server browser to find games. I just let the matchmaking handle it now and haven't come across issues like this.

Actually, I'm not 100% sure about it,
but it's better safe than sorry, as it's over an hour playing time. :P

I need to upgrade my power supply now to accomodate my new 9800GTX+.

It's been nothing but a hassle upgrading my PC, but I'm actually finding the problem solving that I have to go through in the process to be somewhat fun in itself.

On the plus side I now know FAR, FAR more about building PCs than I did before.

Yeah happened to me yesterday. We wanted to do an expert campaign and the lobby clearly said expert but when we were halfway through the first map and we didn't loose any health I looked it up through the voting menu and it did say normal. I voted to change to expert then. A heads-up for achievement whores (one of the guys involved was one, he was so jealous I got the headshot on a leaping hunter achievement too - I don't care about these things, too bad you can't gift achievements :lol ). Apparently if you vote expert difficulty after starting the campaign you won't get the achievements for expert, you have to vote on restarting the campaign too.

I had this happen too, and it was changing the game back to Normal after every chapter. We only noticed the first couple of times because the tank went down like it was made out of paper mache.

Yeah, Tanks on normal are just laughably easy, they don't strike fear into your heart like it should be.

Pretty much. Although sometimes I wish people WOULD leave and they won't -- a skill discrepancy in teams can really make Versus matches boring and frustrating.
 
Found some infos on a work-in-progress custom campaign. The creator has posted some screenshots and a description:

A WiP Campaign for L4D that will consist of 4 maps.

The setting is a tropical island resort/town

1. The Town - A small town with a highway running through it.
2. The Tunnels - A series of underground tunnels, catacombs and the like.
3. The Resort - A Large hotel called something like "The Paradise Inn", still deciding on a name
4. The Beach - The finale

After getting to the beach the survivors will have to radio for a rescue helicopter(Very original >_>)

Hm, is it just me or is Expert on Blood Harvest is hard as fuck? My friends and I got through Dead Toll on expert relatively easily (as in no restart 10x). But holy shit I was playing Blood Harvest on expert with Zyzyxxz, Hunter D and a friend of mine, we were getting raped a couple minutes into the first map. Had to bump it down to Advance to get through and when we changed it back to Expert on the 2nd map, we got raped repeatably again.

Helicopter escape is just fine. I mean, what? Is he gonna leave jetpacks for you to fly off on at the end of the finale? Can't wait.

His comment, not mine. I'm fine with reusing the escape vehicles, the finales are exciting enough as it is :D

You can bet some sweet vehicles will be added by the really skilled modders though.

Use Garry's mod to make a speedboat where everyone gets waterskis and jumps over a Tank or something.

Someone should totally make a level with vehicles already. I want to plow through thousands of zombies while just spamming the laugh button.

Haven't finished Blood Harvest either yet, we got to the third map but then the director screwed us over repeatedly. I think we tried for like an hour :lol .
