The Official Left 4 Dead Thread

Man, it's so annoying when the game spawns you as a tank far away from the four. The game gives you hardly any time to navigate levels that sometime feels like mazes and then takes away control of the tank from you.

Has anyone ran into an areas were you can attack survivors through walls?

In the second part of the No Mercy campaign in the train next to the ammo cache in the tunnel I found that if a survivor is standing next to one of the door on the opposite side of the cache I could attack him or her.

I'm always up for a game, so please feel free to him me up (PC version of course). Steam ID -> Nusumenai

DaFish, I think I was playing with you the other night, and I had to bail in the middle of the Blood Harvest finale. (I was The Villain).

My girlfriend had gotten into a minor car accident and so I just left the computer immediately without signing out. How did you guys do?

Started a Versus No Mercy game tonight. My team was Survivors first, and we got pulled apart right near the end due to a well placed Smoker/Hunter combo.

So we're all planning our vengence, setting up, and we see the other team (all guys from the same clan) running around on top of the first apartment building...but going away from the stairs.

They all had high hopes that the jump-off-the-building shortcut would've worked and that we all would've been caught in the building unable to spawn quick enough.

Thankfully, one of them splattered on the pavement, and the other three were left hanging onto the side of the building.

Round ends. Null points.

Also, repeating my earlier server offer:

I'm still more than happy to link my server with the NeoGAF steam group (or the NeoGAF L4D group), but I need the group's steam ID number from whoever created it, and I'm not entirely sure who that is.

I dunno if Ryan Scott plays on the 360, but the dude I was playing with sure as hell sounded like him. Awesome game! Had a wicked run with some gaffers too.

x3n05 created the steam group.

I really hope the next Valve update includes prohibiting servers from enabling that team-swapping thing. Both vs servers I joined tonight randomly switched players back and forth every round, meaning your points are essentially meaningless.

yesterday was quite epic. me and a m8 stood on 2/4 on "what are you trying to achieve" with dead air and blood harvest being the ones left to be done so we loaded up dead air and off we went.

we had 2 mates who were willing to give it a go and we struggled our way through the first 2 chapters and hit the construction site which has to be the most annoying level ever! its just so damn long. all it would take is a tank in the wrong place or a witch who got a bit twitchy and it would be hard to recover and as such the level just grinds you down. after 3 hours we got all the way to the car park and all 4 of us were limping along only to lose two people to regular zombies. we got up to the bridge i limp my way along safe door in sight when i hear yes thats right a tank. but oh no before that a massive horde rushed us right on the bridge inches from the door :( i almost broke my desk. we eventually got through the level when again on the bridge we almost lost it but we ended up sacrificing one of the members and the other two limped into the safe room at last.

we made our way through the terminal easily enough and then got to the finale which hurt us quite hard. we holed up on the tail section of one of the downed planes but the tanks were taking us apart. then our 2 mates had to leave so after putting 4 hours into the game we decided to carry on with the bots just to finally get this one done. suffice to say it wasnt easy but we eventually won thanks to a tank who ran through the fire in the middle when we had no fire objects left i ended up going one way and my mate the other from the tail section for that final tank and it ended up being the perfect sacrifice to give us the win.

5 hours and 39 minutes it took.......

we then thought we might as well give blood harvest a run. in all honesty its hard but we made it through comparitively easy. which was helped when we picked up two friends who dropped in. but the finale again was making it very difficult for us. we tried different area's of the house the 2 rooms, the really small room etc etc but none of it worked when it came to the tank as he is so hard to spot when you are in the house. we eventually came to the conclusion the the house was a no no and tried the barn which worked magnificently and all 4 of us made it through to the end, even me who got nabbed by a smoker as the APC turned up :)

the funny thing being that up until this point i hadnt actually lived through any of the expert campaigns until then so i got zombicidal maniac and what are you trying to prove at the same time :)

was really long but enjoyed it but i think im going to put L4D down for a while as i have started to hear the witch cries in my sleep which cant be good! ;)

I was up on No Mercy's roof as a Hunter, I spawned behind the vent after the first of the survivors had jumped down and ran off for the radio solo.

They were all hugging the highest ledge on No Mercy's roof. All in a group firing down on a horde of infected trying hopelessly to crawl up the steep wall. I creep out behind them and pounced towards the ledge with all three survivors in huddled formation.
In one strike I knocked Louis and Bill off them off the ledge facing the radio and mauled Zoey- all three were incapped and unable to shoot me off. Francis, who ran off was either too hopeless or just ignorant of what was going on. Needless to say there was blood. A smoker and boomer eventually finished him off.

First time I've seen people running off actually resulting in the rest of their team being killed. Also the first time I really enjoyed Hunter. Then they kicked me. (I was fucking around as survivor anyway)

The L4D group or the Gaf group? I'd prefer the Gaf group because for some strange reason, it just won't save when I tried joining the L4D group.

I would guess the best way for Remy to find the Gaf group is to PM either Evilore or Teknopathetic. They're both mods of that group and if one of them didn't create the GAF group, I'm sure they know who did. I thought it was Teknopathetic though.

EDIT: Finally joined the L4D group. Don't know why it wasn't saving before.

Second time beating No Mercy and I didn't make it to the chopper. My friend bought the game last night and he was the only one who made it... I didn't want to try the next level until I survived No Mercy, but we'll see what happens tonight.

I <3 l4d.

While playing versus on No Mercy (360) last night my team ran into either an glitch or an exploit. After taking the elevator up to the unfinished portion of the hospital, when the door opened a nice mobile power generator was sitting right in the doorway, none of us survivors could get out until what seemed like the infected that were attacking were able to slowly budge it out of the way. After we finally got out of the elevator and were approaching the first big corner to turn, there was a forklift also blocking the path. The forklift was somewhat easy to get around by figuring out where to jump to get over it. Has anyone else seen this?

Fuck you guys. I decided to not bring my desktop home for winter break and I'm sitting here on my shit laptop installing Sins of a Solar Empire because its one of the few recent PC games I can run.

I'm hungry for L4D guys. So hungry.

:( *starts crying*

Haven't really played L4D much in the last two weeks but over break I definitely want to try to finish a Campaign on Expert, which I haven't done yet.

exploit.

its been fixed on the pc but not on the 360. unfortunately we dont know when it will be fixed :(

Has anyone had problems with the game freezing on the 360? It has happened 2 times while playing online.

I am thinking my 360 is about to RROD so I can get my 7th 360 from Microsoft. It only does it on L4D.

Time to mix some TF2/CoH into my play sessions :lol

TF2 is the best game to go to from Left 4 Dead. First, you'll use C a bunch for voicechat instead of V (I should just bind C to voicechat anyway, it's more comfortable than V).

Secondly, a spy will run up to you as an engineer, and you will attempt to melee him away by rightclicking, then shoot him with your shotgun. Unfortunately, melee won't work, and you be embarrassed and possibly dead.

=(

I hear smoker/hunter/boomer noises a lot when they're not there, and sometimes when I close my eyes I see the silhouettes of the four survivors.

And I don't play it anywhere near as much as some people here.

In the past few days, I have done all of this.

I'm having a slightly different problem - I set my ringtone to the Witch Encroacher song.

Now every time I'm playing, I think my phone is ringing.

My biggest thing is I'm now attuned to Tank detection. 99.9% of the time I hear tanks long before we encounter him or before my teammates hear him. Ask Scarlet Witch and she'll probably tell you I have a tank problem :lol

It gets worse when a bunch of people have microphones. The growls start, and we're all calling out "Tank" at the same time :lol

Attention Valve fans playing L4D on 360...Valve has announced that it's bringing out a massive patch for the 360 version of TF2 that will include all the additional content that the PC version has seen. No release date has been announced yet, but head over to the Online Forum and discuss it in the recently bumped TF2 360 thread.

Side note, servers with alltalk are awesome, I vastly prefer it to servers with random teamswitching. With alltalk it doesn't identify who's talking, so you just have a bunch of random dudes insulting the zombies they kill, or calling out fake information to confuse the other team.

Yeah that was me... can't remember what happened exactly, none the less I always have fun.

Girlfriend okay?

This game needs some new maps.

There's already a few community made maps that are ready to go, but no SDK is available to finalize them. Even when it is released, i'm somewhat worried about how we are going to be able to play them. Right now you'd have to use the server browser and that is hit or miss when playing with friends and trying to get everybody on together.

I've been replaying HL2 and keep trying to melee things out of my way/melee glass away. The number of times I've exploded a grenade right into my face is embarrassing. The only upside, also embarrassing considering how often I've played the game, is that I discovered right clicking the shotgun results in a double-barrel shot. How did I not know this?!

Sorry if this has already been answered, I didn't see it.

How many people can go online at once on one 360? I thought I read somewhere a while ago that 2 people can go online at once on one system, but I can't verify that anywhere. Some friends and I are planning a lan party this Friday, right now we've got two people to a console, so I'm crossing my fingers that my memory is correct. :D

2 people can play on one xbox online, I do this all the time with a friend of mine. Also it has guest support so only 1 live account is needed.

I played some last night, and boy was I frustrated with Versus. Apparantly noobish kids figured out that as infected you can move the forklifts and such to block the paths of survivers. On No Mercy, the level where you go to the sewer, if they are quick enough to block that warehouse door your stuck unless u can trick one of them into moving it. also, blocking the elevator and then moving the forklift to block that spot by it is annoying too since as survivers you cant really move them.

just wondering...

it IS possible to get all 4 campaigns in versus mode right?

so far i only have the dead harvest and the first one...

how do i get them? is there a specific way?

Nope, those are the only ones that are currently available.

If anyone wants to hop on this evening, Expert campaigning, versus, or whatever, I'll be on (360) around 9:30 GMT-5. XBL GT = Peronthious

I love it when games have gameplay that just feel like they belong in similar games that you play afterwards. L4D has this, Crysis had this with its nano-suit stuff (I was trying to use speed mode in other FPSs for months after Crysis), and Supreme Commander with its excellent tactical zoom.

I got Nothing Special over the weekend, and just beat Dead Air on expert today. Now I just need to beat expert Blood Harvest and I can fully dive into Versus again.

Also, what's the best strategy for the Blood Harvest finale? I left it last for a reason, I never really have a good plan for it.

Hahahaha you too?

I had a dream where I was playing a giant L4D map, with giant crocodiles lurking in a lake.
