Infected spawns up top and blocks the exit with the power generator effectively ending the game there.

Had this happen today, we manage to knock the generator, out of the way and win the map and game (my friend either was able to get to the side and melee it or just melee and it eventually moved) then because they did that, we trashed talked them pretty bad just to rub it in.

had that happen last night when I joined a game as an infected they also blocked the sewer exit with a dumpster so the survivors couldn't get get out.

I just picked up the 360 version a week ago... Only person I know who plays is my cousin.

For anyone here still playing it, send me a friend invite, my gamertag is druie.

I woke up with the strangest feeling that day, it kind of felt like I stayed up all night playing :lol

Also, what's the best strategy for the Blood Harvest finale? I left it last for a reason, I never really have a good plan for it.

Defending the stairway with each person guarding an entrance seems to work well. Hunters are a non-issue inside, Smokers have a hard time pulling anything from that area and it doesn't matter if a Boomer slimes you since you will be using meele attacks non-stop and as long as everyone is doing their job you shouldn't get attacked from behind. When you hear the tank coming everyone goes outside and kites him around (hopefully you have a molotov or two left and of course auto-shotguns are right there).

Some people like to use the little kids room also. It has points that every member can easily defend to. Only downside is that fricken window. If you fall out or get pulled out by a Hunter or Smoker (though that kind of thing rarely happens in campaign mode... vs on the other hand) you are pretty much screwed.

Yeah, for Blood Harvest, I was playing with a pretty good team of dudes, and we went up in the barn, put fuel packs on most of the exits, and one guy covers the stairs & hole in the roof with the hay bails to his right, which also lets you load up on ammo without moving, another dude on the other side of the haybails, one in the corner and one closer to the ladder. Worked really well. Then you bail the fuck outside when a tank comes, molotov that prick and run circles around it. Repeat. Had so much fun today! Good when you fall into a good team. That was on advanced.

Tried Expert on Dead Air... Holy fucking shit... Brutal!

Easiest (and probably cheapest) Blood Harvest strategy is definitely using the bathroom. Two people on the sink, two in front constantly bashing. When someone gets grabbed, the other is there to immediately free them. When Tank time comes, you all high-tail it outside, Molotov his ass and kite him to kingdom-come (that is, if you don't use the ledge glitch). You want to stay close to the house so you can all heal up and get back to the bathroom for the next wave.

Personally for Blood Harvest finale I like to use the kids' room. You just need one person to crouch at the window and hold in their melee button and it completely negates any zombies entering that way. The other three cover the door at different angles. Tank comes, run outside.

I'm sure I'll fail Blood Harvest enough to try out every possible strategy. I like the barn one though, seems like it'd be easiest since the vehicle stops right outside it.

Yeah, that was a tough one. I ended up just going in that one room people respawn in and beat the crap out of everything, the second tank just ran through fire in the middle and went after a straggler and died. I barely made it but luckily someone was jumped by a hunter and the then barfed on, so the horde all moved past me for a quick run to the plane. It took a lot of attempts trying at other spots though. :x

I think Death Toll has been the easiest expert campaign though, the finale is a breeze for the most part on the docks.

Ledge glitch? Is that similar to the thing on No Mercy where people can stand on a narrow part of the building out of grasp from the Tank? Whenever I attempted that the Tank would still somehow grab on sometimes.

Yeah, I like to use the kids room the best too just for when the tank comes. Its easier to run and spread out really fast than it is from the bathroom. If you run out of the master bedroom and around the really thin ledgey-thing and run to the other side of the kid's room window from there (can't just go out through the kids room because you'll fall) and stand far enough away from the logs that the tank doesn't catch on. He'll just sit on the ledge in the kid's room window or below you far enough away from you that he can't hit you. From there you just have that guy use the auto-shotty until the tank dies.

This is obviously not for versus mode, but it works VERY well for expert campaign. I forgot who on my buddy list I did this with but I don't think it was anyone from gaf.

played with druie we had a pretty good co-op match sorry my mic died man. Going to pick a new mic up later on today. The last versus match I did was pretty bad there was no team work it was just a mad dash to the finish :\

Had some good times playing today. One noteworthy thing that happened was that me and a couple of my other friends started a match on Death Toll. We had one guy we didn't know on our team and this guy was a TOTAL dick. Me and my friends had been playing for a while and we were just messing around, but this guy was all serious and yelling at us saying that we sucked ass. After a while we got suck of him claiming that he was better than all 3 of us combined and yelling at us.... so we threw a propane tank at him, shot it, and then shot him until he quit.

Good Times. :D

hahaha

I remember one time I was so fed up with this one guy on my team that I just sat there and watched zombies down him. After they did I killed the zombies and contemplated helping him back up for a couple seconds. Then I shot him in the face until he died. Then I laughed into the mic (not because I actually meant to, but because its instinct to press C when I'm saying something).

They tried to boot me but my roommate was in the game so they couldn't. I kept on being an asshole to this guy (mainly by pointing out all the little mistakes he was making) after that so he eventually left. His last words were "Congratulations guys, you have made this game not fun for me anymore." After that happened we beat that level on the next round with a new guy who was awesome.

On a similar note, one thing I like to do is to harass someone who's on the other team in versus by saying stuff like "I'm fucking coming after you *guy's name*, you better watch your shit" everytime I spawn. If they take the game too seriously they'll start to type when the rest of their team is moving on or is ready too. I did this really successfully one of the few times I've felt like enough of an asshole to do it. Really messed up a team a couple of rounds.

People in Versus who like to rush rush rush through the entire level without much care about the well-being of their team-mates piss me off. I wonder if they realize that they get a significant multiplier for having more than one survivor reach the safe-house...

Also, people need to learn where the guns are in No Mercy and Blood Harvest. One time I got kicked because the rest of the team rode up the lift in Sewers while I was checking the room above the gas station for guns. Other easily missed guns are those hiding with the sleeping bags in Blood Harvest Train yards.

Dude, if you go somewhere ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS get someone to come with you. Never go anywhere alone. I always try to stress that when I feel like my team is underperforming. If your team does not care about those guns, you follow them, they aren't that important.

But yeah, I agree with you. Just make sure you communicate to your team when you think someone didn't pick up weapons, health, or whatever they should have.

Had an awsome game coop export yesterday with Roeder, Doma and Vebshost (or something similar).
(im lowlife555 btw)

I had an habit of limping around with 1hp left, nearing the end of the map. Doma and Veb was down and out, Roeder too had little hps left.

Safe room in sight, he jumped down and got in, me snailpacing behind got vomited by a boomer. Roeder stayed in safe room watching hilarious, while Veb kept yelling for me to melee. With 1 hp left, a single swipe from the incoming horde would get me.

I crept into a corner, crouched and waited.
Luckily I did manage to kill them all, still on 1hp. Boomer alive.
On way to drop down, I killed the boomer, and dropped down *on the wrong side of the fence*. lol.

okok I can still make it.

boooooom

again I get vomited by a new boomer, which I down quickly. Managed to creep into the _same_ corner. MELEEEEEEE!

Again I did it! woohoo. All of the incoming horde dead with a mixture of shotgun blasts and meleeing.

oh no! a hunter. This time Roeder took pity of me, having healed up in the safe room. "np I got him, crawl in here".
Only thing missing would been a smoker dragging me away 1 inch from the safe door, but thankfully the director liked what he saw.

Boathouse final we did on first try aswell, although only Doma survived.

I played some co-op Dead Air yesterday with friends. So, we get a tank in the second map, in the cubicles, we set it on fire and run the fuck away. He kills two guys andI see him going right towards me, but I get stuck on some wall while running backwards. I saw him raise his hand to kill me (I was seeing grey), my whole life flashed before my eyes, and then he just fell down and died.

That's why I love this game.

i swear only europeans play this game anymore on PC.

Either a patch royally ****ed the server finding algorithm or 95 percent of servers are in Europe.

I was playing Friend's Only yesterday and, again, for the life of us, could not get a good server (It's been at least a week since finding good servers was easy.) We even voted to go back to the lobby a bunch of times and restart.

Most people were getting a 200 ping everytime. And almost every server had a ranking of 0 and 0 times played. I don't know what was going on for the 1-2 week period where servers were good, but I miss it.

The only caveat may be this, some people seem to find better servers than others. I know when I pull up the server browser I can only see a small amount of servers (which is an improvement over the 0 I use to see.) And I've noticed certain gaffers who host the lobby tend to find the worst servers imaginable. So it's possible only a small amount of players are seeing the full server list and when they host, they "find" the good servers. Just a theory, though.

I believe this will be the one game I pick up this month. I was thinking PoP, but this just sounds too good to pass up and I have a ton of friends playing it as well.

When i first played theis game over 2 weeks ago i thought it was Meh! The more i'm playing now the more i'm loving it. Never played anything like this.

Now i'm not saying i'm good at it (as i'm not), but the feeling you get from blasting the crap out of a horde of undead, whilst helping teamates is just amazing.

Love it!!

More people need to buy this. My GOTY!!

Good game last night Neoism and Peronthious (even if it was just the last chapter). Neoism, you really know your way around that map! My bud and I usually get lost in the sewers, so your navigation help really carried us through. For the end of the final stand I had low health so I had to stay away from the tank. I shot at it from afar and he moved out of my view. At this point I ran for the helicopter pad because I knew it was coming soon. Peronthious became incapped or was hanging off a ledge, so my buddy ran for him. I threw my pipe bomb to keep the horde away from them but they still both became incapped. I had low health to begin with and running out for them would have been certain suicide, so I just hopped in the chopper. (first time I survived a campaign, 5th time is the charm!) My bud still hasn't been able to survive though

I plan to hit this up this afternoon (around 6 US Eastern Time) and try to get some of the Expert Campaigns done, if possible. Anyone on GAF up for it?

360 or PC? If 360, what's your gamertag? I'll be playing expert campaigns tonight as well, but 6pm EST might be too early for me.

I'd be down and I think the other 2 we played with before would be too. Sounds like RoH is interested as well though so we might not be able to all play together since that's 5. RoH, what's your gamertag? I'll keep an eye out for both you guys in case my plans fall through

you already have me added (ShogunofPain) I think :)

I plan to get on around 6. I might just mess around in versus until I see you on if 6 is too early. I try to play from around 6-11 if possible.

tried death toll on expert... 2 of our guys died right off the bat from the boomer and hunter there... Then we got into the tunnel and died from the horde.... There definitely is a big gap between advanced and expert :(

yup, already have you on my list. don't wait around for me though, my buds and I usually don't get on until 8pm, and I'll most likely have 2 others with me (another gaffer, Hero, and our friend from school). it looks like there are plenty others interested here, so hopefully everyone will be able to get in with a group of 4. I'll keep an eye out for you as well

The only downside to this game is that it makes players who are bad stick out like a sore thumb. Never in my life have I so frivolously tossed people out of the game for being "bad".

My definition of bad is really just how glued to the group you are. If you are running around off by yourself somewhere and are not within 15-20 paces of the group, than almost indefinitely you are bad.

The only important aspect of being a survivor in versus mode is maintaining a good pace and sticking with your group. If you find upgraded weapons or health items along the way, great, if your group decides to chill somewhere and hunt for items, fine...but don't make the decision on your own and ignore everyone else.

One bad player will degrade the group indefinitely, as you'll have to keep going back or speeding up to save this player, and it'll likely mean they have already taken a ton of damage that they shouldn't have, and either sent your whole team back, or prematurely brought them up.

Pace is everything. You need to know when to speed it up or slow it down.

One thing I found that helps a lot is to talk A LOT. Communicate with your team and make suggestions whenever you feel like your team should be doing better. When you're the infected plan ambushes for at least half of your spawns, especially if there is a witch.

Like in no mercy after you go across the roof after the lift I always make it a point to get everyone to go down at the same time, stay away from those FUCKING windows, and get out of that room as fast as possible. I swear, that room has fucked me up more than any other room in the game. You do not want to get stuck there.

This is excellent advice. Here is a tip in versus.

As infected on No Mercy Finale, upon your immediant start, smoker goes and runs to roof and sets up on building with satellite dish. Then setup hunters on rooftop of ladder building, and boomer as well. If the survivors aren't thinking, they rush right up and smoker grabs first, pulls him off and thats insta death. Hunters get next two, and boomer spews on last guy and the two the hunters grab if need be while smoker recharges. In skittish groups, what happens once first survivor is insta killed like that, the rest drop back down if they can to try and regroup/plan. if thats the case, boomer spews down the hole. If not and they stay up top fighting the horde, smoker uses recharged tongue to drop another to insta death or at least to hanging on for dear life. I've taken out so many survivor groups doing this to win the match for my team. Thats why I love it on that final level to see the boomer and hunters and smoker in the hallways. Kill them and run like hell to the top and get past that deathtrap. Its a good way to drop the survivors down to 1-2 people if you can do it right. Another option is just smoker does this and rest try to do as much damage as possible before they get to the roof. That way their health packs are gone and they have to use the ones provided for the end prematurely.

That's a great ambush, but everyone can get a spawn in before doing that. I recommend just getting a small ambush of a boomer and as many hunters you can gather at the beginning of each level. If you've got a smoker that's awesome. Basically the boomer vomits on everyone he can as soon as possible, then the hunters follow in the horde and if you have a smoker have him pick someone out from the survivors and get a hunter to pounce the first guy who tries to help. I can't think of any levels where you can't get another spawn in before an important ambush point. I think its a really intimidating way to start off, especially if you can pull it off well. If you all die you all die around the same time, but you'll all respawn before they get to the ladder and from there you can set up that ambush.

edit: Also I find the easiest way to tell if the other team is good or not before you really turn on the heat is to see how long it takes them to open the safe door at the start. The longer it takes the worse they are in general.

going to leave in a few to buy a new mic since mine died last night. I'm interested in doing an expert run if anyone wants to team up. I'd like to do an all gaffer run.

I have L4D on PC and love it but unfortunatly most of my games seem to end up with non english speaking people which is pretty annoying!

Im in the UK so maybe it puts me in a european pool or something but if any of you guys wanna play some time that would be cool, my steam id is "apoc.reg".

The tank achievement?

Just punch a forklift or a car at them all. Got it my first try when I learned you could do this. Seems like most people still don't realize this is possible for some reason.

I almost had it on the roof of No Mercy 4, but my swipe lagged or something and missed the guy on the last hit. And literally, there was one VS match where I was launching stuff at people and it DIDN'T DO ANY DAMAGE when it hit them. Ask Oreollio, he was there! I think he was pulling shenanigans. Or I just usually spawn not close enough to something I can launch.

Relinking this awesome Hunter pounce video, there's some clever techniques I want to try for myself. Hitting maximum damage in a single vertical fall sounds like a lot of fun.

I'm trash with the hunter.
I'll try that technique, though I expect to never actually land on anyone.

I also suck with smoker. It's like, if you're far away, it takes an hour for you to start doing damage. If you're close up, you're dead. If you're up top, you might get a couple hits in, but when your tongue is severed you have to wait forever to attack again.

I love being a boomer though. I wish the puke didn't take forever to recharge, or you could recharge it by attacking regular infected, or you could blow chunks when 25% 50% or 75% full.
