The Official Left 4 Dead Thread

Can't wait until the weekend when I can play this again. :D I've been wanting to play it so badly, but I can't because I know I won't be able to put it down and I have to study for exams. :(

im a zombie. boomer to be exact. i was shot and exploded right when they were running to the shaft. bill went into the path of a hunter, the other 3 just fell off.

i love the players who bolt out of the safe room without saying a word. they usually do it while someone is loading.
 
played last night with freshair did some versus and we were doing REALLY good. He startled a witch one round and it went after me instead of him :lol

What Are You Trying To Prove? is mine now, after a 3 hour hell in Blood Harvest. The barn was definitly the best place for me, I was the only one alive against the tank and ended up running up to the second floor and down until it died, then I waited in the corner and saw a Boomer and a Hunter climb the ladder, took pills and just ran out the front into the vehicle.

Just need Zombie Genocidest for 1000/1000 now, at 30K now. :D

Yeah, BH was brutal with spawns. I got Pipe Bombs once and Moltovs a different time out of a ton of attempts. It threw Tanks at us a lot before the radio though, a few of them spawning IN THE GOD DAMN CORN FIELD. Yeah, a horde of zombies and a Tank you can barely see, thanks director. :lol

I'll take that over people who join games and kill everyone. I can't understand the mentality. It's so pointless - they're kicked almost instantly unlike many games where an admin is required.
 
Today I discovered the joy of taking a decent but uncoordinated team and being the leadership necessary to make them a fighting force capable of taking out the enemy team that completely steamrolled us in the first map.

It's a rewarding feeling.

The funny thing was the first time we triggered the horde in the final area and I was yanked away by a Smoker. The thing was killing me and I was wondering why the fuck you dudes were on the other side of the map instead of on top of the vehicle. I died and it was after the 2nd or 3rd time we went through it before I took a look at the difficulty level and saw "Expert." My mind went "Oh... OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH" :lol

Btw, how great is it to see a Tank jump on top of an airplaine and yank concerete out of the airplane? :lol
 
So yesterday i had a witch come after me. nothing new except i was playing Versus mode as a hunter. I was planning on making the survivors startle her so i jumped on top of her and got stuck, couldnt move at all. The survivors start shooting in my direction. The witch stood up,finally enabling me to move again so i jump away. Then witch goes crazy and starts running after me instead. :l is this normal?

During a VS. game earlier I noticed the same thing happen. The Witch was startled and she chased after the infected team instead. Really odd.
 
This is my public apology to Red, Juice, and Pop for accidentally using the term "lulz" vocally, albeit sarcastically. I promise it will not happen again.

Oh, and good game. That finale went fairly smoothly, except for poor Juice getting crushed.

Yes, if you pounce on her or do anything to block her way while she's startled, she will kill you instead, but it's not that big of a deal.
 
Just finished a versus game in No Mercy finale. The survivors camped out in this seemingly indestructible camp for 10 minutes and we had no way of getting through. Another 5 minutes passed,,, and there was no tank. Ok .. maybe theres a bug or something. Then another 10 minutes and still no goddamn tank. Finally the survivors ran out of ammo and went back to the safehouse. Suddenly all of the players in the room just realize that the survivors forgot to activate the event before hiding in that ramp :lol :lol :lol .
 
It's in fact possible to get her angry at you with no survivors around, which can be kind of useful as once she is done killing you she'll stay at her new location.

Yeah, or hitting the switch to start the horde without telling anyone. So you are in the middle of healing and 50 zombies are attacking you.

The trick is to overshoot it. Then just tap back on your movement controls to hone it in. Better to go past them, then back up in the air.

lol, I forgot about that! you also missed it, before you came on we had a horde spawn from a bathroom, which we checked beforehand mind you, TWICE. Nothing like checking a bathroom, finding nothing, closing the door, hearing a buzzing noise, and then seeing like 30 zombies run out of the previously empty bathroom. We were like, are they coming out of the toilet??!

I remember this, and the third time we left it alone and nothing came out. Apparantly the director didn't want us checking that room out :lol

I just put together a new computer last night and played the game for the first time. It is nice to be able to run this thing at 1920x1200 with max settings and a very smooth framerate. These guys did a good job making the game look good on the Source engine, too.

I only played for about 20 minutes, but damn this game is fun. Team-based zombie murdering is just awesome.

nice, the second part to Metal's hunter vid. that guy is a sick hunter.

i tried some of those moves from the first part and couldnt hit shit! time for more hunter practice.

edit: walljumping off of the telephone poles in NM1 is SICK. goddamn i want to be able to do some of those jumps.

i dont think the AI hunters in co-op even come close to doing any of the stuff they are capable of judging by these vids.
 
Looking for some people to play this with. On X Box (I know, I'm weaksauce). Gamertag's everluck.

I only have two friends with the game and they're hardly ever on. It's cool hopping into random groups and all, but half the time it's an uncoordinated mess.

just got into a group of dudes who just rambled about random crap and then would only chat in a party with his dickfaced friends abusing halo, really annoying.
 
Valve still needs to add teammate muting and FPS max limiting.

Of course, then people would mute me. :/ I haven't figured out if I'm annoying or not. I'm -not- fond of people spamming Zoey's death sound though...it's a really high-pitched noise like fingernails on a chalkboard or one of the zombie females, and I feel like it hurts my hearing along with hunter screams. X_X

Anyway, if anyone wants to do expert blood harvest tonight, let me know.

Talk about game of the forever broken online...trying to survive expert blood harvest, we got at least three different servers (two of them with weird settings), and two of them died after we got through a level or two, kicking us all off. :(
