Website is up! Right now, it's just running on tumblr, but I'm working on installing a template which should be ready sometime this week. Going to start doing daily updates this week, as well. Hope y'all like it, have some fun stuff lined up for it.

Also, a public service announcement: Floorplan - Paradise is a fucking brilliant album. Hood dropping the heat as always, essential.

Some tracks that began what we know as Drum n Bass, pretty much all of them are classics. Listening to this album takes me back to my early raving days:

Fun fact:

MSX is the DnB station in Grand Theft Auto which plays Moving Shadow songs.

I always find myself listening to that station by accident. Love it to death. I've never really had a close relationship with DnB, but my older used to listen to it *all the time* when I was younger. I wish I could remember the URL, but there was one specific website that he had streaming nearly 24 hours a day, all DnB all day (with the occasional jungle set). It was such an awesome source, the two of us would just sit at his computer all day listening to it and play Grim Fandango and shit.

That Ashley Beedle edit has been really doing it for me at the moment. As a huuuuge prog head I thought nothing would beat the Infusion mix for me.

I was so ready to post the Infusion remix of it, you bastard. Also, I think you meant to link this one (going by your link title) for the first one?

Fun fact: The "Infusion remix" of Running wasn't really done by Infusion per-se, but only by Jamie Stevens (very much the core of their sound, from what I understand). It got whacked with the Infusion name/label when it came time to "release" it. If you have a chance, look up all the stuff he's done. It's far from being Beatport chart-toppers in any genre, but it's all super good quality and easy to appreciate if you're right into your music.

The first track I heard with his name on it, surprised the hell out of me that was that guy from Infusion:
Angel Freq - Nothing At All (Jamie Stevens remix)
His more recent stuff (I think that was '07?) is a lot more advanced and less commercial, mind.

Fun fact #2: One time there was a mention on Infusion's MySpace (that long ago!) about how Jamie had fallen down steps and fractured his wrist or ankle or something while in Europe. I wrote them a gushing email about how I'm massive a massive fan, owned several of their albums, that sort of thing. Got a reply from Jamie himself who, despite being overseas, asked for my postal address so he could arrange for an Infusion t-shirt (and badge-pins, it turns out) to be sent to me as a way of saying thanks for their support :) I see him out in Melbourne quite frequently, actually. Doubt he remembers that, though.

Also creeped him out one time when I saw him walking around Big W (a store like K-Mart or Target, I guess) in the city. I haven't been game enough to go up to him since, lest I look like a major creeper :(

God, you creep! Would love to talk to artists or DJs who actually are interesting, all I get to Finland is egoistical trance artists or someone who hasn't been relevant in years (Mauro Picotto being the last, that douche can fuck right off)
Agree on Infusion and Jamie Stevens being on top of the game in the progressive genre a few years ago. Too bad the whole scene is total garbage at the moment, makes me miss stuff like this one:

Rui Da Silva pres. The Four Elements - Fire
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F3tyXyFI2dg

I should get back into the older progressive business, so many under the radar gems in that genre, which imo are way better than what techno or deep house could offer at that time.

edit: LNTG edit of running up that hill, my life is complete.

Wait, so that wasn't what you were meant to link to? There ya go!

The whole prog scene (as in, if it's the one I'm thinking of, the one that wasn't generic as all hell) may be down at the moment, but Stevens is still on the top of his game. Probably the best way to suss out the sort of stuff he's churning out currently.

I'm gonna use this as an excuse to post some Infusion stuff. God damn, they were so good back in their day:
Do To You (In '82)
Spike (Morse mix)
"Untitled" from their 2004 EM (which later went onto become Love and Imitation... then Natural)
(and for some of dat prog/breaks, Junkie XL remix of Infusion's Legacy)

Speaking of old shit, I first saw Infusion at a pub in Melbourne, with their supporting act being Poxymusic. It's no sleight on Infusion (who always put on a ridiculously amazing sounding performance *every time*) to say that PM wiped the floor with them, IMO. One of the best live acts I've seen.
Poxymusic - Our Break
Ferry Corsten - Rock Your Body, Rock (Poxymusic & Kid Kenobi's Break Your Body Rockin' Remix)
Freestylers - Get A Life (Poxymusic remix)
Green Velvet - La La Land (Poxy Music vs Kid Kenobi Remix)

absolute belter, that bassline is such a driving force.

Bombdogs - I Can't Explain
Steve Lawler favorite from '04, still rocks the dancefloors.

I'll hook up my old HD this weekend to find more stuff like this, love the older progressive genre.

I've bought an unhealthy amount of electronica/techno vinyls lately, GOD HELP ME. :'(

Nice one man, he will rock the place. 40 years old and still on top of the game, crazy.

Nice, I'm really looking forward to it. I'm only 20 minutes in but this mix is incredible so far. The set times for the concert tomorrow were just posted:

Set times for StageONE tomorrow:
2 / Bill Patrick
4 / Davide Squillace
530 / Maya Jane Coles
7 / Guy Gerber
830 / Sasha

I'm only familiar with Sasha and MJC, but I look forward to checking the rest out as well.

This song is over a year old, I did a quick search and I don't think it has been posted before. I have been listening to this the past few days. I loooooove this song, It's a pretty cool remix because there hardly is anything recognizable from the original song from Destiny's Child.

Destiny's Child - Say My Name (Cyril Hahn Remix)

I always hear the name Sacha but I never heard any of his work. What are some good songs to start?

I love Cyril Hahn, his music is so otherworldly. I got an email yesterday that said he was going to be performing at Electric Zoo this year, so I get to see him live in early September. So psyched.

:D

This may or may not fry your brain... one of the guys from Poxymusic (Sameer Sen-Gupta, don't ask me how I remember his name) was one of the key members of Australian electronic group Southend waaaay back in the day (early-mid 90s).
Take Me Up
600 Miles From Nowhere
and for the hell of it, some Aussie classics:
Vision Four 5 - Everything You Need (Aapogee Mix)
Itch-E & Scratch-E - Sweetness & Light
and how could I ever forget...
Severed Heads - Dead Eyes Opened (original 1984 extended mix)

Oh that Bombdogs track is one of my favorites! Reminds me of when I saw Lawler and AVB tear up Guvernment in 2003!

There's some good prog out there, though it's harder to find now than in the early 2000's, where you were just tripping over quality progressive. I'm quite partial to the Mistique label, and both Relaunch and Basil O'Glue are keeping the sound alive, somewhat. Nick Warren is still holding steady, as well...

Sasha's Out of Control remix = super, super dope.

So everyone, looks like you can all suck it:

Percentage-wise it's not a great lineup, but I can definitely pick 7-8 acts I'd be happy to see. It's over two days, BTW (not overnight).

Edit: Here's my list (as I actually went through it to find how many I'd wanna see):

Maceo Plex
Solomun
Hot Natured (maybe)
Cajmere (obviously)
Claud Von Stroke (although last time I saw him, I think he might've been crap? Unless I'm thinking of someone else)
Kalkbrenner
DJ Falcon
Tommie Sunshine
Hot Since 82
LNTG!!!! (I only just saw his name then, otherwise I would've said already that the lineup was best evar)

Destiny's Child - Say My Name (Cyril Hahn Remix)

Yeah I am a big fan of Cyril's stuff.
His remix of Mariah Carey's 'Touch My Body' follows the same formula.

He just released an original which I'm pretty sure is his first. It's called Perfect Form and it's pretty sweet imo

I allways liked Involver2 out of everything hes done. Though he wont play much like that these days. Still It will be a damn good time.

Nice tunes coming out in a few weeks. I just spent llike £70 on records and now I have to spend more haha
Gorgon Sound Ft. Guy Calhoun - Righteous Dub
Gorgon Sound - Orion
Ishan Sound ft. Ras Addis - Clash of the Titans
Clash Of The Titans (Kahn Remix)(I have this one)

Gorgon sound is Kahn and Neek (Percy Bandulu 001 /Theif in the Night Bandulu 002)
Bandulu 003 teaser
