Metroid was unplayable in what I guess is "standard" mode (shoot/look with the pen, move with the d-pad), but was much better with the pen to look/ABXY to move-style control. I'm also not too sold on having to hold the DS with one hand use the pen, but I'd actually have to hold it (not just grip it on the display platform) to really get a feel for it
sammy said:Standard mode is when the game is runnin' on the top screen, and you use the 'touchpad' for mouse style controls... if 'unplayable' for you, then you must be terrible at PC fps's

I hadn't really spent any time with it, except for a brief test run before setting it aside to play Mario (which is truly excellent, never played the N64 version much).
My impression after attempting to complete the demo level? Horrible. If this is an indication of the final single player game, its downright awful. Sure the grpahics are pretty, and it controls well, soound pretty nice too, but its freaking boring. go from room to room, kill everything, and then got to the next room? That's it? And the boss battle is ridiculously hard, the damn enemy move to fast its just stupid. Then again, I prefer "real" world style FPS, Bond games, etc. At very least there has to be some elements of strategy.
Maybe the multi-player is better, but I dont know if ill ever get to try that.

Miami Florida is a barren wasteland of DS. THERE IS NONE TO BE FOUND.

I was by the same Gamestop this afternoon, the one in Town and Country Mall, and they had two more units for sell.
