The Official Sacrifice Appreciation Thread

Aside from Earthworm Jim, I think this was Shiny's best moment (because what they've done since has been... questionable... but I'm editorializing here.)

Got amazing reviews... and it's not surprise...

http://www.gamerankings.com/htmlpages2/914208.asp?q=sacrifice

- Great story and voice acting (Tim Curry !)

- Awesome gameplay (Think: Magic The Gathering meets Battlezone)

- Amazing graphics (for it's time, November 2000... spell effects, huge detailed textures, and the adaptive LOD was nice, at times)

- Fully destructible environments !

Anyway, the list goes on... when I bought my new computer, it's the first game I put on it. A true classic !

Shiny: Thank you for making this game... and please MAKE A SEQUEL !

oooh, this reminds me to try reinstalling this game. I tried recently and it had severe problems under windows 2000-I just flattened and reinstalled XP and I'd love to give this game another go-it's an unbelivably great game.

Loved it. It was really sad that you couldn't find a soul to play multiplayer with after a couple of months after release, because it was a blast online.

Great, great game. One of my favorite strategy titles ever, heck, one of my favorite PC games ever.

I never got to play online, how was it setup, we could get some GAF'ers together to play it

Damn, I misread the title as "The Official Scarface Appreciation Thread".

Sacrifice is a great game nonetheless.

Haha... I'd forgotten about the things the units say when you select them...

I'm gonna go re-install it :)

This game would really work well as a console game, if they just changed the targeting and spell selection system... it might help to get this great game out to the masses !

I still play this game every now and again - it has really held up well. I still think it shows one way to translate RTS's to console systems.

Yeah, it has shades of Pikmin...

Anyone know of any console games like it ?

Aren't Goblin Commander and Full Spectrum Warrior similar in some ways ?

Yes this was a really fun game. I remember having a blast with the multiplayer. FSW and Pikmin are similar in some aspects.

While we're at it, anyone remember Messiah? Sure it wasn't a good game but it had its random moments.

Hah, yes... I remember them touting their graphics technology...... too bad they didn't work as hard on the gameplay, it seems...

Shiny, Shiny, Shiny... what HAPPENED... :( Oh yeah... they took the blue pill :P

But I'm digressing... let's stay on the Sacrifice topic !

Sacrifice is indeed a great game. I was just thinking about installing it again last week. I still need to play it 3 more times until I fully complete it.

That's true ! Since you had to choose one of five different paths at each mission...

We should really get some people together to play online !

And Shiny has to make a sequel ! :)

This game looks just as good as some of this year's releases, and it was made in 2000. Fry's Electronics still has a whole rack of them, so there is no excuse not to have one. I'm up for a game if is still possible to play online.

Seriously, it's one of those games that SHOULD have sold truckloads, like Pandemic's Battlezone.

So good, so well reviewed, just not bought enough.

I wonder if the Action RTS genre is to blame ?

It's a double pack with "Messiah" I believe - for $10.

From what I remember, the game had problems running on several systems when it was first released.
