The Official Star Wars: The Force Unleashed Thread

Patch 1.02 isn't Trophies right ? Because I bought the game this morning and it seems that we have no trophies yet in Europe...

Europe gets Trophies on Thursday.

In case anyone is interested, I found a ton of copies at the local Target on clearance for $7.48. They only had it for 360, but PS3 version may be that price as well. Anyone who's been waiting to bite on this might want to check a nearby Target (I know Sith Edition is coming out, but come on, it's dirt cheap).

Tatooine dlc is out. I bought and finished it.
Pretty good but only for the real fans.
Sadly no extra skins.

The biggest highlights being
your fights with Boba fett and Obiwan, you kill Obi in a pretty gruesome manner, you hold him with the force behind the Falcon's engines when they ignite. And then you fight him again as a force-ghost. Fett explodes by his own rocket which Starkiller redirects to him, nothing left but his helmet, haha. Other neat little touches, Starkiller's lightning is purple, you meet Proxy again and the state he's in will have many of his haters happy, Obi's force push is awesome, 4 or so force blasts right after one another.

Sucks that we have to wait to november for the conclusion(Hoth).

I breezed through the game when it came out. I guess I'll do another run through for trophies, it was kinda fun, no Jedi Academy 3 though.

It's only one level similar to the Jedi temple dlc?

Awesome. Does this mean there's a chance the Hoth level will be DLC as well...? Or is it still exclusive to the rerelease in November?

Did anyone have any problems with being able to play Tatooine DLC on Xbox 360?
I downloaded it and it wont show up when I start the game. Im currently re-downloading it if that was the problem.

Awesome! it is also on sale at amazon.com for 360 for $9.99 even though Sith edition is coming out I could not pass it up at that price.

OK so I finally got around to finishing this game on normal difficulty (Sith Warrior), and as I understand it, I have to create a completely new game just to get the harder difficulty achievements?

All those powers, crystals and costumes collected for nothing? :(

Yeah, the achievements are a bit borked in this game. Punish them by using cheats, I'd say. There are tricks for the 360 version at least.

Ah, now that this topic has been bumped, I might as well share my thoughts since I platinum'd it some days ago. It's a decent game, it has a nice 'wow' factor at the beginning, especially since the physics are so great. But the further you go, the further the game gets broken; tons of graphical glitches, random bugs and borked bosses line your path. This is especially true for the Sith Master difficulty level; seriously, if you don't mind skipping trophies/achievements, save yourself the pain of playing this ridiculously unfair game. One of the few games this generation that has made me want to break the disc (eventhough I borrowed the game from a friend). Killzone 2's Elite difficulty level is a CAKEWALK compared to this.

Still, it's a decent game, but not one I would buy myself. It's overly short, it becomes highly repetitive as it goes on, but it has some interesting scenery, and throwing stormtroopers is fun when you wanna wind down. If only it got another 5 layers of polish...

The game is so frustrating that ive switched to easy and im just trying to get through it as quick as possible. Not a game to play right after Batman and also having the UC2 beta.

I had this experience when I first attempted to play it back in 2008, I found it incredibly frustrating on anything over Apprentice level.

I decided to give the game another chance though, cause I love all things Star Wars and thought it deserved a completion at least. This time I got the hang of using the force powers a lot more, and it was far more successful than running in with the lightsabre. A quick force grab and throw made all the difference, combined with lightning and dashing, took away most of the frustration.

I just took my time, chose my battles (by hiding behind crates), and actually had a more enjoyable experience.

I didn't notice any bugs on the 360 version though. There was the occasional corpse or object that would spasm or fly across the map, but nothing game breaking.

Do the codes disable achievements?
Yeah they do, but on the 360, there's a way around that fact.
You basically enter the cheats, run to a known checkpoint, quit to dashboard, restart the game & they are still there :) Some say you need to redo that every time you die but I didn't need to when I did it O_o Dunno if it's possible on the ps3 though. I'm not sure if the patch fixes this but if you just play offline with a clean install, if that's your thing, then it shouldn't be any problems.

Unfortunately, hard mode is hard even with cheats :S But you can get your health back to maximum by simply removing all force skills (iirc) & replacing the orbs again :lol It only costs one extra orb each time & you gain new ones from leveling etc.

Edit: http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/showthread.php?t=92460
There was a few more steps but nothing fancy.

Haha, was reading this week's Gamer Spotlight on Xbox Live, and the guy (gamertag: Mid7night) lists his favorite single player game as Star Wars: The Force Unleashed.

The torch still burns bright. :)

Since this thread has been bumped again, I might as well share my thoughts as well. Got 1000/1000 on the 360 version & disagree with the glitches & bugs. The only glitches I ever saw was a enemy getting stuck on a wall/floor once or twice.

I do agree this is one of the cheapest games ever made on the Sith Master difficulty. I had to resort to using the exploit to beat the game. In fact the last fight with Vader, I had to refill my entire health bar 40 times throughout. He gets you in one combo & your health bar is screwed, All his moves will break your guard, he will block & counter 100% all you force powers. You can't break his attack animation when it starts even if you hit him before he hits you, but he can do that to you.

The regular game is was also cheap, considering most of the enemies use guns & only 3-4 shoots can immediately kill you & of course there are usually a dozen enemies in any one room spread out shooting at you non-stop. It's like the projectile spam in Ninja Gaiden Master Ninja difficulty.

The 2.00 patch is out on the PS3, trophies are in. It tell you to delete your old save(s) to get trophies.

Trophies have been in for quite some time now on PS3, since before the Tatooine DLC launched if I remember correctly.

Really? Sorry, I thought they announced them with the new Sith version and said the patch would release when that version did. My mistake.

Yeah they actually launched them late summer, with version 1.01 patch or something.
Wonder whats new in 2.0?

I just Platinum'd the game and this is 100% true, and not only for Vader: All of the "person" bosses are like this, Proxy and that crazy Jedi especially. I'm debating getting the DLC trophies because you have to beat the Coruscant level on each difficulty as the trophies don't stack. Plus I can't do the Hoth level anyway since it's still not available as actual DLC yet.

Since this thread has been bumped again, im gonna say something!

If your game hero has a sword, in the sequel he needs two swords.

That´s the law, as made up by No More Heroes 2 and The Force Unleashed 2

So we can agree that The Force Unleashed 4 will have General Grievous as the main character

Bit of a bump here, but I'm playing through it and imagine I'm about halfway through it (I think).

The game has moments that are just insanely awesome.. but makes you wade through a whole lot of bullshit to get to them.

The game is buggy as fuck. I've fallen through the level about 10 times. I've had enemies fall through the level. Screen tearing is nuts. There was one section where they didn't even close in the skybox :lol

Boss fights are pure bullshit. The camera becomes nearly impossible during them. They just throw wave after wave of enemies at you to fight... while you are in the middle of a lightsave lockup animation you can still take damage. Sheesh.

I'm enjoying the art, story and characters and brief moments in the larger more open areas in the game. But the amount of shit you have to wade through to get to the good parts really isn't worth it.

I have to imagine LucasArts put this thing out well before it was ready. You can see the duct tape holding this thing together.

5/10 at best. Hopefully it gets stronger.

The first level was cool being insanely overpowered.. but it went on about 10 minutes too long

What a horseshit game.

At this point I'm dying about 1/3rd of the time because the game glitches out. I just finnished the boss fight on Kashyyk and the game glitched out and I have to go through the entire (pretty difficult) last section again. FFS.

I really am looking forward to the sequel because it feels as though there is a really fun game in here somewhere buried beneath some buggy glitchy shit.

Beat the game tonight..

Overall: I liked it. It had some really good ideas that worked really really well when things clicked. It had a shitload of bullshit to wade through and a ton of bugs.. and some wonky cameras.

It's like I liked the game inspite of itself in a lot of ways.

Story was solid, art work was aces.

Although, I have a hard time thinking my dude took out Vader and the Emporer straightup like that. :lol Also, what the fuck are you doing not letting him killer the Emperor. FFS old Jedi dude..

Not sure how they are going to retcon a sequel.

really? I haven't seen anything about it. *checks wikipedia* So it has, as of a few weeks ago. Well, hadn't checked the store for it in about a month so that figures. Maybe I should check the weekly PSN store threads more often. Danke.

Finally I can 100% the game.

800MS points is an awful lot for a level. Are they better than the rest of the game or something? Because I felt the game had the right length before it got too repetitive.

I'm still really early in the game,
Raxus Prime
, but i'm curious: Does the game ever get better, or good at all? I was in the mood for a good sci-fi game and have had this on my shelf for awhile now so I thought I would give it a go, but i'm disappointed so far. I love Star Wars, but this feels like a watered down version of the Jedi Knight games. But anyway, will my experience improve or should I go play Mass Effect 2 or something?

So I just bought the game on steam. It's running at 1 FPS. Everything is, including the menus. What should I do??? Thanks.

I tried to play this game. Story was pretty cool even though I'm on the second level. I want to know what happens, but it is so shitty to play :X

Yep. That's Force Unleashed.

I recommend the book and buying the soundtrack, or just watching the cutscenes on Youtube.

I finished this last week, bought it for 19$. Horrible controls, horrible playability, horrible combat :D interesting story though, better than the new trilogy.

Most frustrating was the platforming stuff, sometimes you can jump on things, sometimes you just go through or slide off...

And when the HEV Stormtroopers last a 5 hit combo from a lightsaber i was grinding teeth :P

Euphoria physics was pretty wasted with this one too... I hope the sequel vastly improves the gameplay.

I am thinking about picking this game up for $10 on the Ps3. Is it worth it? How bad and or glitchy is teh game really? Will I at least enjoy myself, I have played the demo several times and have become bored with that level. :lol
