The Official Star Wars: The Force Unleashed Thread

Well, i finished the DLC last night, i got all the achievements and stuff. Overall i'm very pleased with what we got.

So about how long did this end up being? When I saw "one level" I got a little turned off and didn't end up getting the DLC.

I meant to ask about this glitch I ran across.

I was going through a level when all of a sudden I'm stopped by a cliff leading to nowhere (although there was a visible holocron floating nearby). I tried to jump off the cliff, but I was blocked by "invisible energy" that I could target but it was seemingly immovable. There was other "invisible energy" before the cliff that I could target and force throw but the energy blocking the cliff I could not.

I figured it was some bizarre puzzle so I went back to see if there were any clues. I didn't see any so I went back to the cliff, which now was nowhere to be found. Instead a door to a building was in its place and I could continue the level as normal.

It was bizarre.

I'm at the
Star Destroyer battle
at the end of the shipyard mission, and I've gotta say...this is the most tedious fucking thing I've ever done. The devs have somehow turned what should have one of the coolest things ever in a Star Wars game into something even far more frustrating than God of War's blade towers.

I just want to finish this fucking mission and I've been trying to bring down this fucking
Star Destroyer
for 20 minutes!!!

edit - ok I finally did it :lol Thank God that's over.

Downloaded that level from the PSN.

Pros: it gives you all of the power crystals and color crystals from the start and you have almost all of the force combos and practically all of the powers leveled up. And getting the rest of those levels doesn't take very long as it throws a metric ton of enemies at you at key parts. It also makes you use the Force in a...unique(?) way in a puzzle. also, the skins you get are (to me, at least) better than the ones you get from the skin packs.

Cons: $10 for one level that is over in about 30-45 minutes? And you don't really learn anything new? (this last part is understandable as it would be akin to leaving out part of a story and making you pay for it but still.) Finally, you have to start a "new" game to play it.

The end result: none of the cons are real deal breakers. If you liked the game you'll like this. I didn't feel that bummed about the length as it was a new level that I was enjoying.

I think it's like Bune duggy said, not very long especially once you know what you're supposed to do but still very enjoyable for a fan.

Question about the training room: I'm almost done with the game, but there are still two modes that are unlocked (they're right beneath the force push modes; they're 3rd and 4th on the list overall). Anyone know what they are and how to unlock them?

That's weird, i'm pretty sure that they are each supposed to be unlocked once you complete previous one.

Are you supposed to get anything for completing all of the training challenges?

Yep, you get an achievement, i'm guessing a thropy for ps3 version.

Just finished it, and...I'm absolutely not pleased. IMHO, please don't be offended.

This is one of the most annoying, frustrating, flawed experience I've ever took part in. I don't know where to start: the mountain of glitches that made me hit the restart button more than in my life ever? Or the absolutely tedious corridor design, called "levels"? Or the camera which is doing the worst in boss battles? Or the battles itself with the camera and the aiming controls combined? Not to mention the low number of original levels. Or the worst QTE-s ever.

When it works - in areas with stormtroopers, for example on Kashyyk - it's a bareable experience, but every other time I wished it to be over as soon as possible. I think I've not been this angry since... I don't know, any other game. My controller barely survived.

The Darth Maul sequence was the most pathetic PR attempt I've ever seen

The story is not awful, it's enjoyable, but filled with too many clichés.

To be honest It is clear that it was designed by tech-savvy people and not by somebody who has a clear vision or experience in gameplay design. A gorgeous tech demo implanted into the Star Wars Universe, but nothing more.

So it's been a couple a months now, has there been any news about another DLC or atleast confirmation that they've started on TFU2?

Before in interviews it was said that they would see how the first DLC level(jedi temple) sold before looking to the future. I know the game sold well but have no idea as the how bad/good the DLC sold.
I personaly enjoyed it very much and i'm hoping they will do more stuff with Starkiller.

Actually i just found a recent interview with the project-lead Haden Blackman and according to him they didn't lose to whole team. I think is a real shame that they had to let some people go since their game(TFU) was quite succesful while other Lucasarts games bombed they had to pay the price for it.

Yeah, the psp was also a solid game, it was developed by Krome studios.

I bet Lucasarts fired more people then you think. Blackman is a PR guy that sugarcoats everything.

Sorry to bump this, but some new achievements just popped up for this game if you check it on your list on xbox.com.

New DLC/update incoming?

I hope so. This game was excellent. Could be something they announce at comic-con next week? That's my guess.

I am going to pick this one up. It seems to be on sale at EB, used for 39.99.

Okay, I know 7 months ago I said I would pick it up, but I will now for sure!!!

18.99 used at EB.

You guys realize, looking at those achievements, that we're going to get some badass classic Star Wars levels, right?!?! :D :D
hell yea! cant wait to face against Boba Fett and Obi-Wan.

Excellent news, I for one had an absolute blast with this game and was disappointed to only get one additional level of DLC.

Awesome, i'm so happy were getting more dlc for this, TFU was my favorite game of 2008, i bought all the previous dlc's for the 360.

I'm hoping we will again get new costumes with this new level, like how it was with the jedi temple.

So far people are speculating you will play as SithstalkerStarkiller from the non-canon ending and looking at the achievements, i agree with this.

Hopefully the other big news at comic-con will be the announcement of TFU2.

Just beat The Force Unleashed this afternoon, managed to clear it in two play sessions over two weekends. I picked it up late last week for 20$ because of EB Canada's deal of the day sales they got right now. I was really enjoying the experience up until the "boss" encounter in the eighth mission. It's not a perfect game by any means but it's a lot of fun, and probably as close as I'm going to get to a new Jedi Knight games any time soon, but that boss encounter kind of soured me on the rest of the experience.

The soft lock-on is only kind of stupid throughout most of the game but I really felt like I was wrestling with it killing off the
tie fighters
before the completely broken visual cues came up
for pulling the star destroyer out of the sky
. The visual prompts, at least for the right analog stick motions, are just fucking wrong, you will fail if you follow them. I couldn't figure out what I was doing wrong until I did a google search and found out you're better off ignoring the prompts for the right stick and just centering the
damned star destroiyer
on the screen.

Overall I still like the game, I think, and will play through it again to collect the few Jedi holocrons I missed. Given that I bought the game for so little I might buy the DLC that adds that Jedi Temple to the game. Is it worth the 10$? Edit: Just read one of the first posts on this page, looks like the dlc is worth it. maybe after I find the other holocrons.

Oh yeah, the story in this game makes for a better prelude to the original trilogy than the new one.

For those complaining about the gameplay: it's a lightsaber brawler with Force powers. Don't expect a NG, DMC, or GoW experience here. It's a pretty good looking game with glaring last-gen design (one corridor FTW) and invisible walls up the wazoo. Still, it's a fun, short action games, and it's satisfying as hell to plow through storm troopers or crush AT-ATs with the Force.

Also, the camera in this game is not that bad. I remember fighting with it at Kashykk and the last level, but it's bearable.

Not really. I found the ending of TFU to be just as lame as ROTS.

TFU has an alright story. It's cheesy as hell but bearable.

Apparently it's not just DLC but an actual special edition of the game coming out this fall. I hope it's discounted cause re-releasing it at 60 would be shit.

From G4's Live Blog:
Brand new compliation pack for The Force Unleashed: The Ultimate Sith edition. With all the DLC and an exclusive add-on: A level set on Hoth, where The Secret Apprentice will be at Darth Vader's side.
It will be available on Mac or PC, for the first time ever.

Will it be DLC also or disc only?

I will certainly get it on PC. I was dreaming for a PC release in the first place. Hopefully it will be on Steam day and date since Lucasarts is now supporting it.

I hope this Hoth level does not require people who own the game already to double dip. What's the point in having DLC if you won't even include shit as DLC? We'll see though. I think it's just a mixup in terminology.

Kagari said:
PC version? I might actually get this now.

My thoughts exactly. Just as long as they fix some of the fixable issues.

Also, remember when they said this was not coming to PC? Good times. Guess they needed more cash to fund the second game(Cannot imagine why, the first sold stellar across all platforms)

Looks like I'll be passing on the Tatooine DLC and getting the Ultimate Sith Edition so I can kill Luke as Starkiller. As nice as this rerelease it, I was really hoping for an announcement of another game in the series.

Man I only played the demo, but from that new trailer this means I'll be buying yet another game this holiday season. That looks like great fun.

Pretty sure that the Hoth level is exclusive to the Sith edition, the rest will be released as DLC.

Just to recap ... Sith Edition = The Force Unleashed + Coruscant DLC + Tatooine DLC + Planet Hoth mission (which is completely exclusive to this disked Sith Edition).

Not the best source, but it does tally with what other sites have been reporting.
