Giving established IP to dev teams that have never worked on that IP before seems like an extremely stupid idea to me. If I want an Elder Scrolls game experience, I don't want anyone other than Bethesda working on it. The last two Doom titles have been amazing, why would Microsoft give the franchise to another one of their studios? It makes absolutely no sense.

Also, is the news about Avowed being in development hell just another Twitter/forum rumor or confirmed by reliable sources?
If this is your position then I will say point blank:

Its a fucking stupid ass position.

Why? Because it would be MANY years before any of these games get done. Do you want to wait 10 years for next Fallout game? Next Elder Scrolls game? How many of the same people would still be present in the studio at that point where it would even matter.

If that is your position then thank god you are nowhere near developing games and owning IPs. It's not without precedent that IPs get handed off to other teams/studios. The Coalition took over Gears of War. Obsidian developed New Vegas. Those of some of many examples. You can also bring people from the main teams to oversee the development.

This is why I'm a little concerned about MS giving Perfect Dark and Fable to studios with no prior history with those games.
It's interesting to think about, but I wonder if there are so many people involved in a particular game's development that if you gave a game to another studio it would make a difference. Nintendo even farmed out some Zelda games to Capcom that reviewed well enough.

I'm personally of the opinion that Microsoft's problems with releasing games will come to an end in a year or two and at that point they'll be delivering stuff regularly. But on the other hand, I regularly wonder what the fuck 343 industries are doing and why something hasn't been done, it's not just the cost of running the studio to consider it's that they could have put out more games and made more money. Having 343 in charge of Halo has been very expensive, financially and reputationally.
It's not without precedent and yes how many of the original developers are even at the studio. If you followed Salty Popsicle Salty Popsicle 's genius idea, it'd be a good 10+ years before we get another Fallout game, 15+ for another Starfield, etc.

My biggest concern however and this does echo the sentiment from AmuroChan AmuroChan is can MS can be trusted to properly manage the development of these first party games? Aside from Gears and Forza, the first party development has been pretty dreadful. Halo Infinite cost untold millions of dollars in delays. I have yet to play it, but from what I gather its not a bad game, but not one that is truly great either. MS haven't done jack shit with Rare. Mr Reasonable Mr Reasonable I'm glad you are confident that they will start delivering stuff regularly. I wish I shared that sentiment since I have not seen a single sign that is actually happening.

Avowed was the game that I had huge hopes for, but now we know it's pretty much in development hell is what really set me off.

IPs get handed to other studios all the time but usually only when the original developer no longer exist or when a spin-off type game like Halo Wars which is an entirely different genre from the mainline titles is greenlit. The Coalition took over the Gears franchise because Microsoft purchased the IP from Epic Games, not because Epic Games was busy working on something else. Obsidian is the only example of yours that actually works to your favor, but again New Vegas was a spin-off and not a numbered entry.

Plus many times games get cancelled extremely early In development. I remember GoW was redone several times before they can even show us anything. It would suck to be shown a prototype and get told a year later that it’s changed to something else.

That's my point. They CAN do such things. My post didn't refer to JUST numbered entries.

I haven't even finished God of War 2018 and this still has me like:

You know, that shit just feels like someone at Sony being incredibly vindictive.

They *MUST* know how people have been asking for YEARS for BB to get ANY kind of update, whether its PS4 Pro, a PC port, and now a PS5 patch.

Ignoring it all this time just seems like deliberate dick move.
Same with not supporting 1440p on the PS5. Utterly ridiculous and anticonsumer. There are dozens of us using 1440p screens!

I would say no longer exists or had no interests in making more sequels. Media Molecule didn't want to make any more LBPs. So Sumo Digital made LBP 3, a numbered entry sequel to LBP 2. Bioshock 2 was made by 2K Marin and not Irrational because Ken Levine wanted to make Bioshock Infinite instead. Sly 4 was made by Sanzaru because Sucker Punch was done after Sly 3 and wanted to move on to something else.

Good IPs will persist for a long long time, but the original studio may not want to keep making games for that IP forever.

The snitch is about to get snitched:

Here's what I think happened. Sony uploaded a private teaser video to YouTube with bogus info. 'The Snitch' took the bait. Now Sony can determine for certain the leaker works for YouTube and request Google take action.

Might be referring to it only being a Blog post with no game updates, aside from the launch date and maybe the mention of a special edition or two.

I think the trailer is going to be held back for the showcase.

If that is the case why would he make this tweet a day before the news is suppose to drop?

What's the rush of knowing the release date? So let's say you know the release date is November 18th. What's the difference between knowing it now or knowing it in September?

Why can't people have patience? You still won't be able to play it until it releases.

A delay announcement is another thing, but in this case they haven't say anything other than 2022.
