Jon Jones' fight (or whatever his name is) was awesome.

Supplexes, spinning back 'elbows'--insane

Good wrestling, good striking, but zero jits. Hope he improves.

Really enjoyed the machida fight. Can't wait to see this guy's next fight.

Yep. That was my fav fight too.

I have only seen two matches with him, but I love his unique fighting style.

Someone needs to infiltrate Machida's camp and start a fued between him and Anderson Silva so we can see that fight.

Ok, I'm back. As a huge GSP fan you can all imagine how fucking epic my trip ended up being. Fun facts from the fight include (to my surprise) the crowd being about 70/30 in favor of Penn. EVERYONE and their mother had on fucking team Hawaii shirts. Every Asian we saw, regardless of their nationality was a Penn fan. After reading the lines here on GAF I hit up the Mirage sports book with a buddy and we bet on Silva. Realizing this wasn't totally practical, we also bet on GSP. Needless to say, we broke even cause Silva got fucked up.

For the pics or it didn't happen crowd...

In case this wasn't mentioned earlier in the thread, this is how Gono entered the ring. the pic looks like that cause I had to shoot the big screen for full effect. He's in the middle, the other dudes are in his camp. They were playing a Jpop song and doing a hilarious choreographed dance. Best entrance ever.

And the winnar!!! pardon the blurriness, you can imagine the chaos when BJ couldn't get out of the break.

The trip was a true success. IMO this was the biggest fight I've ever seen, and I'm not young. I love this sport.

No, we didn't go March 13th 06', disregard that.

Probably wouldnt even make Genki Sudo's top 10 entrances. :D

I'm glad GSP won because he's just a class act. However I wouldn't have minded if the match was a little more back and forth. It didn't look like "The best Penn" :(

Yeah very interesting style. I've seen a couple of his fights most of them exciting too and not as boring as people like to say sometimes.

Clay won at least though.

BJ needs to start taking people down and doing what he is best at. Him on his back looked terrible imo because he kept doing basically nothing with his one leg by putting it in a funky posistion like he can't help it.

I say go for it. I'd love to see GSP make Penn quit again. I dont think BJ wants any part of a rematch though.

I doubt there'd be a rematch. Penn would get destroyed a 3rd time. Still, it should be a No Contest though.

This is my #1 Dream fight. It would be the ultimate stand up clash IMO, Anderson's aggressive Muai Thai vs Machida's technical Karate. It's really too bad that we may never see them fight because that would be a hell of a fight. I wonder though, what if 2 years from now Anderson is sitting at 30-4 and Machida is 20-0, Dana just might be able to convince them to fight each other for a big pay day and because the fans are asking for it

I've always liked Machida, but i really and honestly thought Silva would tear him a new asshole. Ceezus he looked impressive.

It's like Machida's hands were loaded. It didn't look like he hit Silva all that hard, but he went down like a ton of bricks... and Silva was had been manhandling people in his previous fights.

For the past several days I have been reading statements made by St. Pierre and Greg Jackson about our fight on January 31. St. Pierre claims that he is “not a cheater” and that he and Greg Jackson will have “no problem with a rematch in the summer of 2009.” To the untrained eye the grease might not look like much, but every grappler knows the effect that it has. Being able to apply your submissions and sweeps or just being able to hold on to your opponent to defend yourself from being hit is absolutely critical! There is a reason why you are not allowed to put grease anywhere on your body except for the area around your eyes. Because of the grease applied to St.Pierre’s Body the Nevada State Athletic Commission’s executive director, Keith Kizer has stated that the Penn-St. Pierre fight “definitely wasn’t fair”. I hereby accept George St. Pierre and Greg Jackson’s challenge for a fight in the summer 2009. Lets call Dana now and set it up.

Why would BJ want another beating this Summer? Unless he wants to meet at LW, then it makes no sense. He's just gonna get gooned again. Even if there was grease, a greaseless GSP is still gonna dominate BJ all over the place. BJ has nothing in standup. He got taken down at will, as well. What's he hoping to do, get a win on his back while eating random elbows? Even when he didn't pass, GSP was still landing leather and joints on him. Sounds like a whole bushel of sour grapes shipped from Hawaii. PEACE.

Lubegate stealing the impact from this match, bleh.

Personally I don't think vaseline should be allowed at all. But, oh well, there's a lot I'd change. Replace the 10 Point Must system, knees to the head/soccer kicks/stomps to grounded opponents, and I'd probably replace the cage with some sort of solid transparent wall so grabbing it isn't a concern. One can dream!
