yeah, all of the hype killed it. bj didn't even look like he wanted to be there.
I honestly don't know what you were expecting. It seems like alot of people get caught up in Penn's myth. He is a great fighter, not god. Penn doesn't finish fights off his back, and the only weakness for Penn to exploit was GSP's boxing, but it was obvious GSP corrected that flaw after the Fitch fight and it isn't like Penn could take GSP down. GSP had the advantage no matter where the fight went.

Machida get's KO of the night...the only KO on this card :D

Are you really surprised. He is far and away the best striker in MMA right now. There's a reason why he doesn't get touched during his fights. Hopefully they throw shogun in there with him.

Fuck yeah, GSP IS Van Damme!

Its all down hill from here folks. Mayweather, you know what you have to do. So who makes more money on these events, UFC or Boxing?

a good fight? i understand GSP had most of the advantages and expected him to win but not by a blowout.

I fell asleep as the Mashida fight started. I'll have to catch a replay of the GSP fight, but glad to see he won via amateur facial reconstruction surgery. That elbow may not be a scalpel, but it'll do the job all the same. :D PEACE.

Sorry dude, after seeing GSP fight, at this point it's like expecting Silva or Fedor not to kill their opponents.

Of course, unless they're playing around like what Silva did to Cote - of course, somehow Cote injured his knee when Silva was playing around....

In other words, their opponents will suffer regardless - directly or indirectly. :D

The Machida fight is actually the best fight in the whole bunch since he did a clinical Ryu Street Fighter string combo on Thiago - and then ending it with a double Shoryuken.

He destroyed Thiago for short. :D

George St. Pierre vs. B.J. Penn
- I got GSP by stoppage due to strikes. Penn doesn't have the heart Fitch does.

Lyoto Machida vs. Thiago Silva
- Lyoto by tko or knockdown then submission. Thiago rose the ranks due to being exciting, not through quality of competition. Thiago's good but Lyoto is on another level skill wise.
Oh yeah, I called it.
nevermind me only getting ~60% of my fight picks correct again. sigh..

WOW

very impressed with GSP, he dismantled Penn, i picked Penn to win, but i thought that GSP had just a good chance to win the fight, but the way he dominated Penn in rounds 2-4 was very impressive

have to give GSP a lot of credit, not sure what Thiago Silva can do to him honestly

think a fight between GSP and Anderson Silva would be very interesting for UFC 100

From the evidence of the first 2 rounds I think GSP will finish this via GnP in the 4th.

That's mine.

The winner was a forgone conclusion at the end of the second round although the same could have been said when BJ got in the cage after Fitch had been taken apart.

I also had faith in Machida tooling Thiago because T. Silva is not as good as his 13-0 record suggests and I believe Lyoto is top 5 P4P.

1.Fedor, 2. GSP , 3. Silva, 4. Lyoto, 5. Rashad

Oh man

I was at a friends place for a party and me and my buddy were ordering the fight and it kept saying it couldn't process the order.....

Buddy was on the phone with viewers choice for half an hour and then it finally worked and they gave us 10 bucks off.....

Out of the 15 people there we were the only ones who wanted to watch it so we were almost very pissed off.......

GSP!!!

"B.J. Penn is a world champion in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu so my strategy was in the first two rounds to make a wrestling match with him because he's got very quick hands and his shoulder is made for boxing," St. Pierre explained. "So because he has small soldiers, by making him wrestle, all the blood would go into his shoulder and it would have become stiff and his hand would not come out as it is usually."

Thiago is a knockout artist so he could end it early, who knows, but GSP will likely gnp him to death.

ya but will he be able to keep in standing? i doubt it, i mean fitch was able to take down thiago in their fight and impose his will, so i imagine GSP will be able to do that x2

how funny that Machida's fight was the only one that didnt go to decision or past round 3 tonight, i'm not a fan but he looked impressive in the win, lets see him versus one of the top of the division, if not or a title shot

The Fitch fight was a long time ago when Thiago was new to ufc. Thiago had little problem recently, taking out a great wrestler in Koschek. When GSP goes for a leg, he might eat a fight ending knee.

Diaz got robbed.

Stungun got robbed.

I was worried Jones was going to get robbed, but he wasn't.

Machida deserves the title shot. He's really trying, and for the first time I have to call one of his fights "exciting." Glad to see him speaking English and getting the crowd behind him.

People are going to call GSP #1 P4P, and possibly deservedly so. I still think Anderson Silva deserves it more though.

Fitch got fucked (by not getting televised).

How is Anderson's competition anywhere near what GSP has faced? Lutter? Marquardt? Not to mention Cote and now Leites, and let's not forget him beeing heelhooked by a welterweight. Anderson is nothing but a product of the UFC hype machine, and I would put my money on GSP if they ever end up fighting. The only person I could possibly put over GSP is Fedor in p4p talk.

GSP looked great. Some people I was with were arguing that he was just wrestling and not doing anything great. But, he was out grappling BJ. All the props in the world to toying with BJ as he pleased. To da det, GSP, I'm gonna fighcthu to a det.

First 3 fights were mostly snoozers, with some fucking horrible judging. Especially Diaz. Robbed so bad. That said Stun Gun and Jones only looked so good because Karo and Boner looked so bad.

Lyoto's the fucking man. First round KO by horizontal shoryuken. Instant lights out. So awesome.

Hopefully will catch the Fitch fight tomorrow. I think even the UFC/Dana feel "bad" it didn't air. I don't think anyone expected that many long distance fights.

Ah well, solid night all around. Main event was not the legendary bout it was made up to be, but seeing GSP work is always entertaining.

ya i think diaz should have won the fight, but given the way they score fights in the UFC i wasnt suprised that guida won the decision

i dont know how karo got the decision win vs the stungun, he looked like shit, he should be embarrassed with that performance

i hear the fitch had a real good performance in his fight, too bad it wasnt televised

as far as P4P lists go

1a. Fedor
1b. GSP
2. Anderson Silva

Fedor's and GSP's quality of opponents faced is much more impressive than Silva's imo, and Fedor being undefeated puts him at the top of the heap until he loses, but i would put GSP at the top of the list if he ever does face and beat Anderson Silva, which i think he would

Also incredibly happy for my boy Machida. Haters can eat a dick, he's the fucking man.

I was seriously impressed with Machida, I think he's going to take the belt and hold it for a long time.

Anderson's competition has been nowhere near Fedor or GSP, but he wasn't KO'ed by Matt fucking Serra two years ago. Anderson's last legitimate loss was the crazy flying heelhook that nobody could have seen coming over 5 years ago. If Fedor ever comes to the UFC and dominates, he'll deserve #1 status. He's had opportunity to come fight in the UFC, but he's avoided it.

Ethnicity is not a race!
Holy shit at Stungun getting hella robbed.

Jones is fucking awesome to watch. That was the most entertaining fight of the night to me.

Honestly? I don't think that even Fedor has a chance against GSP. Silva would get completely destroyed. GSP is simply on another level now. I really don't think anyone can touch him.

He's avoided it for good reason. And I would say getting caught by matt serra and then destroying him in his next meeting is better than getting mounted by travis lutter.

GSP is awesome and I would love to see him face (and whoop) Silva at 185.

I would love to see GSP fight Silva in a New Years Fight at 185. It would truly be the biggest spectacle in MMA, assuming neither loses before then. It would be a superfight that would live up to the hype.

I have a feeling UFC 100 will be July 4th and GSP and Penn will both defend their belts.

Oh and was it just me or was Rogan all over Penn's nuts the first few rounds? Talking about how calm Penn was, at the same time I was thinking "Calm, wtf? Penn looks lost..."

Joe has a mancrush on a lot of guys. Penn is one of them, and whenever he starts talking about tyson griffins thighs is when I press the mute button. But yeah I was thinking the same thing, I was thinking bj looks tired and knows he's getting his ass kicked.

B.J. Penn's camp has filed a formal complaint with the Nevada State Athletic Commission over Vaseline that was allegedly rubbed on Georges St. Pierre's back between rounds one and two. UFC president Dana White said at the post-fight press conference that he was aware of the complaint, and said he personally witnessed members of the commission take the Vaseline away from GSP's camp and rebuke them in the Octagon between rounds.

"I saw the commission jump up there and flipping out," said Dana White. They said one of the guys was rubbing Vaseline on Georges' back in between rounds. It was one and two, I think."

"The guys from the athletic commission went up there and started screaming at them. Knocked the Vaseline and kicked the Vaseline out of the Octagon."

White added that "some Vaseline on a guy's back didn't change the outcome of that fight, but you don't do it," and said the blame should fall on the cornerman responsible and not GSP.

"If a guy was intentionally putting Vaseline on a guy's back, he should never corner a mixed martial arts fight again."

As for what becomes of the complaint now, White said it's out of his hands.

"Who knows. That's up to the commission."

Dun dun duuuun. Not that it changes much, but yeah.

And why are people saying BJ quit? Wasn't it a doctor recommended ref. stoppage/TKO? It was loud but I remember reading TKO when GSP's hand was raised.

Sinatar

The commissioner also threw in a towel which the cornerman used to wipe the vaseline off. It's a non issue and just BJ being a fucking whiny bitch as per normal.
