Keep in mind their first two fights were in PRIDE which had a ring and rules that favor strikers, while the UFC cage and rules favor wrestlers.

Rampage might be able to lay and pray his way to a win, whereas PRIDE had more frequent and quicker stand-ups

They had Herb Dean as the ref and I swear to God half the time it didn't even look like Dean was paying attention.
